Late here, but as an e500, E-1, E-3 shooter that has owned a e620 as well -- love the old CCD sensors. Much less color noise between 200-800 than the "LiveMOS" sensors in the E3 and e620. So ironically I prefer my E3 up to 200 ISO but accually prefer the E1 for certain shots. Recently invested in 50-200 SWD and 7-14 Ultrawide--amd I'm having all sorts of fun!
    That's all...

Great video! I love the colors of my E-1, they are really punchy and nostalgic. My E-1 has a few issues too, the mode dial is faulty and so you fiddle with it to move it out of program mode and it takes a while to register a different lens (when you change lens). However, when you get it working who cares if it takes a bit longer to set up. Also the photos are lovely!

Fun to see, for nearly 2 decades, people always looking for new cameras with more pixels and features and finally, we discovered the earliest digital cameras, with their 5-10MP were far better than the 30-50MP today's cameras, even the lenses were amazingly great.

@@shutterslaps4938Digital cameras, are like traveling by plane, in the early days, cameras were made for people who could afford them, and were very expensive, the first usable dslr were derivate from high-grade pro camera and the lenses were also built to compensate the low res of the sensors.
The manufacturers, did a lot of efforts to change the mind of the customers and convince them to move from film to digital.
When done, when technologies were mature enough, they started to extend the lines with "cheap" entry level, by reducing the built quality and removing features. And now, we have 2 categories of cameras, the entry level with crappy lenses and pro grade cameras but with also shortcuts in quality to use as much as possible the same parts as for the low cost ones.
Exactly the same story as traveling by plane, in the early days, plane were like palace, with beds, a chef to cook, and in some case even an orchestra, in the 60s-70s and the democratization of charters, the services were reduced, even un 1st classe or business and now with the invasion of ultra low cost companies, what's called today business is the eco of the 90s, and what's called 1st classe is the charter of the 60s.

Wonderful review. I own Oly E-1, E-510, E-500, E3 and all are great. E1 is so easy to handle and so is E-500. E-3 is too complcated in practice, but great photos. I also own aome modern mft cameras and a few days ago I took out my E-500 again and at first glance was a bit so and so about the quality seen on the screen, but when opened on the computer they really shine and don’t need much extra. Great colours and vintage looks. I really love my Olympus Em-1 and Pannie G85, but the ‘old’ FT bunch with 14-54 and 50-200(my favourite) give me lots of pleasure and fun. Thanks for bringing the ‘old guy(s) into spotlihts again. FT lives😊🍀

It is/was highly criticized to avoid vintage lenses w/adapter for these bodies. However, if you use a third party magnifying eyepiece (view finder is tiny) and keep the crop factor in mind (try 28mm) you can get an even more vintage look paired with vintage glass... People gripe using full frame lenses on these, but they have their own look on these Kodak Full Frame compensated sensors that is jaw dropping.

Also, your shutter problem MIGHT be a low voltage battery. Power cycling the camera to take a single picture each time means it functions, but it might not have enough voltage to seat the shutter.
The older OEM batteries sometimes work, but they typically degrade and may not have the correct voltage nor amperage. The China batteries are hit or miss too. In turn, the shutter might not work because the voltage is wonky. Consider getting a new battery. A work around, might be to lower the LCD brightness to the lowest setting or switch it to off and toggle.

I bought this camera in 2005 with the Zuiko 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5 mark II when it came out and the next year I shot an outdoor sunset wedding using the Zuiko 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 lens (unrequested, unpaid family wedding) and gave beautiful 8x10 prints to the couple as a gift. Although its performance in low light was not good by today's standards, the images I captured were breathtaking, the couple loved them, and it was an exciting experience for me, as this camera was my first DSLR. I LOVE the sound of the shutter on it, and how it feels in the hand. And with todays Denoise software, I’m going back over some of the shots that were too noisy to see what I can salvage.
