I bought this camera in 2005 when it came out and the next year I shot an outdoor sunset wedding using the 50-200 f/2.8-3.5 lens (unrequested, unpaid family wedding) and gave the photos to the couple as a gift. Although its performance in low light was not good by today's standards (not so good by even 2005 standards), the images I captured were breathtaking, the couple loved them, and it was an exciting experience for me, as this camera was my first DSLR. I LOVED the sound of the shutter on it, and still do.

I have both this and the E1 and they are great cameras. The menu that lets you change all functions on the screen is called the super control panel. Modern Olympus cameras still have it, in case you get to try a micro 4/3rds body.

Hello! I just came across your video about the Vivitar ps35. I’m brand new to owning a camera and I’m trying to figure out what type / size of film to buy for it? I purchased it at a thrift store near me and it’s in great condition. I was wondering if you could possibly help answer my question! Thank you!!

You'll need 35mm film, like Fuji Superia (color) or Ilford HP5+ (black and white). You can purchase online from eBay or Adorama, or maybe you have a local camera store/film lab that could use the support. Enjoy your film shooting adventure! I had 216 rolls left to develop the last time I counted...

I have two Olympus E500 camera bodies one with a wide angle and the other with a telephoto lens 99% of the pics I shoot or of live entertainment at night usually with colored stage lights in the background! Using an external flash what setting, f-stop & ISO shutter speed do you reccomend recommend?

I’m wondering if you ever had any trouble capturing purple in your photos. My e-500 seems to shift them to blue, and I’ve wondered if that was true for all e500s or if mine just has a fault due to an extensive repair early in its life.

Great videos as usual! I have the older E-300 and I see the E-500 as both a cheaper and a more refined version of the E-300. I believe they use the same sensor. The build of the E-300 was more expensive because of the tilted mirror box and probably overall quality, but the E-500 is better in almost any other way. I love the kind of analog output these cameras have. As far as the auto focus is concerned the E-300 is faster than you expect of cameras of this age. Probably the E-500 is even faster.

I didn't have the E-300, but I recall one factor with AF on these cameras was the lens motor. At the time the E-500 came out, Olympus was ramping up production of lenses with their new SWD drives (supersonic wave drive, I believe they called it), which was much faster at focusing than the previous generation.
