Here in America, the tobacco tax didn't stop anybody from smoking one bit. It just made them poorer.
Wrong smoking in America was reduced by 55% from 2005 to 2021. Only 11.5% of Americans smoke now. That's a very significant reduction.
This is the stupidest thing! Sugar is not the only issue. People think that diabetes is caused by too much sugar, but that’s not the truth. All of these I’m about to list are factors: Family history, metabolism, muscle mass, pancreas issues, liver issues, how often you are eating, simple carbohydrates, seed oils, fried foods, fat and sugar among others. What will work for one diabetic won’t work for another. These “diabetic health professionals” really do not know anything past the books. And that’s to their disadvantaged. Their book won’t work for most diabetics. If they are taxing sugar, it needs to be on everything that has sugar in it. Including tomato sauce! Yes, tomato sauce will raise some diabetic’s blood sugar. It’s not just candy, cakes, cookies and such.
Exactly that’s not the only thing
No you cannnot reduce diabetes within the population with sugar tax, however you can use it to fund treatment for diabetic patients.
Sugar also causes other serious inflammation called neurological disease. Other sources of sugar is processed and unprocessed foods. India is in grip of diabetes.
@@skwish6401 Yes you are correct, issue is that we people will not stop buying sugar and too high tax will cause policy issue linked to affordability.
There is already medical insurance for that
@@elksalmon84 Meaning that everyone in the world can afford medical insurance? or are we saying that every public Hospital can afford diabetic meds or treatment?
@@Junior-llll Most of eastern world countries have base mandatory insurance available to everyone, whatever paid or not.
Australians anually consume 110 kg meat, which is highest in the world. This is linked to type 2 diabetes. Tax more on meats.
The damage was actually don't decades ago. If people have high blood sugar levels certain product could be reduced, but food company's didn't want to lose customers, so the started selling diet, no sugar an low sugar products but they also started adding non nutritive sweetener to products which further messed up people's diets. The America's, UK and Australia consume alot of processed foods that also leads to insulin resistance, pcos, hypothyroidism and many other health risk
sugar is last product,.... liquor is first-- molasses,.....
They have put a fat tax on certain dairys in Sweden like butter and other things. It has no effect just annoys the customers.
Good idea...Save the medical system from overloading any further.
please do a story on reservation in india from today's lens
Yea sure stop stop lung cancer by having a tax on cigarettes lol
India should implement a 'honking tax'. Patch cars with some recording device, and levy proportionate tax on the number of hours honked.
Might deter car and bike owners from needlessly blaring their horns.
I feel like this is definitely a good idea, especially in America at this time. Everyone is in their health era now.
There was a Fat tax in Kerala (another type of sin tax).. but...
Just quit drinking the sodas 😂
Even India should have such Tax .
But the companies would find loopholes like instead of added sugar they will put sucralose ,invert syrup or some other sweetner
Australian govt can make insulin more affordable rather than pulling this BS stunt 😅
Old habits of politics is to collect taxes and fill their coffer
We want sugar tax in India too.
