- Today we are pouring STEM WALLS for our shop/apartment build. We will be pouring the entire foundation by hand using the MudMixer.
The apartment will be our home until we finish with our main house (years down the road). And we cannot wait to get out of the RV and into the apartment!
Who are we??

oil kerosene mixture in a pump sprayer applied to all surfaces in contact with cement. duplex nails that can be pulled out easily. limit vibration to avoid blow out and form spread. Use smooth sheathing to prevent marks in finished concrete. Just a few steps I've learned over the years. We poured 2 block long pours that lasted a day and a half. One time we had an underpinning pit form blow out and cut down a street sign to sure up the pour in an emergency.
Vibration is used to consolidate the concrete by removing the aire so there are not any honeycombs (air pockets that can cause the concrete to expand if water gets in and freezes, concrete is porous and will absorb water). Proper bracing prevents blowouts.

Thank you! Yes, we will show a completed tiny house video. Sorry we left you all hanging with those videos. We were just too excited to start showing our shop/apartment build! We will try and get that tiny house video out soon!
Your channel popped up in my feed this evening and I am happy it did. I bought a MudMixer and the hopper extension just like you. It was really nice seeing you pour your concrete walls using it. Then I watched you pour your center floor. That success you had makes me now want to pour my piers and the entire floor in the 64' x 80" post frame barn. I know it will be slower than having a contractor come do the pour with cement trucks. The quote I got from the contractor was $30k. I think I can do it for far less.
That’s awesome! Yeah, we found that it was way cheaper to use the MudMixer than to have a contractor come out and pour for us. It is a lot more work but it was worth it for us!
How did it go?
This mixer takes forever
It does take a while, but it’s fast if you compare to a typical hand mixer!
Needed to spray those forms with diesel fuel so they release easier. You also better bed those DWV pipes in clean sand and clean gravel.
I will have a rib eye to that, looks like a large bon fire was in order.
Next time spray the forms with old oil or diesel fuel, then the wood will release much easier.
form oil goes a long way

If you used two headed nails . You just pull the nails and the rest will fall apart .
I am excited to see the progress you guys have made! Wow!! How are you testing your concrete when your have your inspections? I work in commercial and I think I would like to purchase one of these units for an offgrid project we are working on.
Good question! We don’t personally have to have our concrete tested, so I’m not sure what that process looks like. We are planning to do a complete review video soon where we talk about all the variables that play into the consistency of the concrete.

Curious how long it took to pour the stem wall start to finish? Did the beginning dry out before you got back around to it?
It took about five hours and yes, it did dry before we got back to the beginning.
Or no building strength 😂
