Why not speak? Iwoyld like you say this is the living room and the masterbedroom, dinner, bathroom etc. Hear you voice, see how you are so enyway hello from México my city is Mexicali.
use to have a castle in the family many years ago somewhere in England not sure where abouts of it or what's left of it the only thing that we have left is the family coat of arms that was given to me by my old man,. great vid matey.
Helen - I wouldn't say vandalized so much as the missing windows and doors, etc., were probably harvested as architectural salvage and sold for use elsewhere. I'd also say it is likely that some of the stonework went the same way to be used again and probably is still in use in another structure of some kind locally. Quality dressed stone can always be used again.
@@RevengeLawn Thankyou. The walls generally are not as thick as those of many castles. Guess it was decorative rather than defensive. As it was built in the 1800s that has to be the case. Would have acted as a pleasing ornament to the whole valley in its time.
@@sarahstrong7174 - So many Irish families with and without money emigrated from Ireland because of the potato famine and the country is just now really recovering her [pre-famine] population at about 9 million. I don't know the specific history here but I'd say there's a good chance that the owners moved on because they lost money and workers in the area and couldn't continue to maintain the building and their lifestyle. So many came to the US and elsewhere, that it would be interesting to see how thy fared after they left Ireland and if they would ever come home to the family lands.
This looks INCREDIBLY difficult to heat in winter ....good job with the video !
Thankyou for sharing this amazing old place.

Visited this home a few years back. There was a JCB parked there. I can't understand. The destruction.
Wonderful architecture. Such would not get planning permission today with EPA and an taisce and someone would find a frog
Such a shame this has been vandalised.

Dang shame: seems like it's not that far gone; whereupon it couldn't be fixed up.
Open planned with possibilities I guess a real estate agent would say :-)
Did this place burn or has it slowly decayed?
Just slowly decayed, I think.

@@sarahstrong7174 It was abandoned in 1894 and left to rot. These old mansions are very expensive to maintain.
@@toniguinn4037 Yes, it is a shame that. The pretty & characterful old buildings decline & new ones are often very dull.

John D'Arcy did soo much for clifden. Shame his home couldn't have been preserved. Clifden heritage lost and lining some pockets
They can't even build structures like that these days?.
My Family home land.
Lis Heanue are you related to John D'Arcy? He was my 5th great grandfather.
