Great video Jerry. I think Kia are really killing it in terms of design for their whole range.
On a side note you drove very close to my old house just off Cape Hill rd 😜
Anyone reading comments and looking for a vehicle in Auckland, can highly recommend Jerry at Ebbett. He’s the best there is when it comes to service and support 👍
I thought I had another new huge fan reading the comment but glad to have you Josh:)
Stumbled upon your channel randomly, its really good! keep up the good work
Thanks for your support!
Great video! Been waiting for this
Thanks for your support!
Good solid EV, roomy without being overlarge imv of this
Love your channel Jerry
Thank you so much for the support!
An SUV! So exciting !!
:( there are more coming
Thanks for the review Jerry! On your follow up review in the future, would you please look into the vehicle-to-load and, if available, vehicle-to-grid/home function in the Kia EV5?
Thanks for the comment. I will try my best to do a video on how to charge and V2L in the future (not near future unfortunately).
solid review.
Thanks for your support!
571lt boot that's a great size!
i think you're the first to post a drive review of this car. been waiting for this. but i want to ask what's the red beeping thing on the screen when you drive?
It’s the face / motion monitor. It flashes or beeps when you are not focusing on the road. I had GoPro on my head and it’s probably mistaking that as an human eyes.
good rear wiper design
Hey Jerry, great video. Did the rear seat have the drop-down tray table?
Thanks for the comment. I didn't see it but others are commenting on the "cushion thing" on the back of the rear seats. I will find out what that does.
Jerry next time please make a consumption test at speed 60mph / 100km/h on eco mode
Thanks for the suggestion. I will try but cannot promise. With the distance I can drive in these videos, I find it unfair to use my consumption for others' reference.
I wish we were getting this in the US. Right now we are getting the EV 9 which seems great, and is very similar but I have no need of 3 rows.
I'm assuming this is very unlikely to happen for the US since this car is built in Kia China factory. The US tariff on Chinese cars is now 100% :(
@@JerryPanandCars Yes, I heard we won’t get it. The EV 3 might make it to our shores, but that’s a bit smaller than I’d like. I’ll probably buy an Ioniq 5.
Can you post measurements of the boot dimensions?
Innovative and efficient
Looking at other reviews looks like the double shelf in the back does not exist for this model? Did they remove it in the NZ market?
Shouldn't the rear seats fold flat w/ additional flap to cover the small gap between seats and trunk space to create big flat cargo area?
in Thailand, the shelf at the back of the car is only for the AWD (top) model unfortunately
It looks amazing, I just don't like the position of the ventilation options at all. You can't see them because they're behind the steering wheel
Steering looks quite soft but other than that I like it.
The wheels seem undersized compared to the rest of the body.. I was surprised to hear they are 19"
Price is good, love the powered tail gate and size of the trunk+frunk though
Thanks. I also find the whole car looks larger in person that the dimension suggests.
What is the sound system and how many speakers in Earth? Wireless apple CarPlay, ventilated charger?
The GT-Line gets 8 speakers Harman Kardon and all the other trims get 6 speakers non-branded. I haven't tested it much but it is normal not bad but not superb either. CarPlay is wired.
Ev3 looks so much nicer 😮
Please update about charging power, time and rate, in case you have free time. Thank you.
Will do the video when there is a chance. Thanks
Can you make video show us how setup kia connect and pair it with phone . And show us intertanment in this car .
Thank you
Hi, it is certainly possible for a future video but not in the nearest future as it takes time to get to know these features. Thanks
@@JerryPanandCars
Thank you for that .and it's ok just please keep this note with you . And i'm looking for your video.
Thanks.
From what it looks like I see no ventilated seats nor the cooling/heating box and also no fingerprint sensor to start the car. Can you confirm if these are going to be part of the GT-Line only? I found a brochure off of the Kia website that is no longer available stating the Earth AWD is supposed to have these.
According to our brochure, only the GT-Line has those figures you mentioned.
@@JerryPanandCars Damn, do you have a link to this brochure? I would love to see it in its entirety.
@@Hoochiemamma72 I don’t have the full spec just a colour brochure. Give me your email I can send you one. Or you can send an email to me.
@@JerryPanandCars Email sent
Anyone have a theory as to why there is and extra cushion on the passenger seat? Looks like it makes a bench seat, but the center console would make it an unusable place to sit. I guess it removes a gap where things can fall through between the passenger and the console.
Yes, I noticed that when I rechecked the video as well. I have to go back and check next time. Thanks for pointing it out.
Anyone know why this is available in NZ but isn't going to make its way to Europe for another year or so? Clashes with EV3 launch in Europe?
I think that is due to EU's tax against Chinese manufactured cars? This car is actually built in Kia's Chinese factory.
한국에서도 얼릉 보고싶다
Does the battery pack drop down below the car body?
only for china ev haha
@@dhhsvis4920 have u seen it for urself?
How do you change the rear wiper blade?
I think someone said put the car in service mode and it drops down.
@@Orange_Manbaby yep, service mode.
Engage service mode on rear wiper. It will drop
Ev3 in next?
Love to do one but the EV3 won't arrive in New Zealand until 4th quarter of 2024.
What’s the Chinese build quality like?
On bar with Korea-built Kia. I cannot see any difference.
Can u move the car in/out of the parking space using the remote key?
Yes, on this Earth Spec and also GT-Line spec. New Zealand of course
@@JerryPanandCars lucky. For the TH spec, this feature gets chop off.
Just wait until a kid in a child seat kicks mud into the USB port.
No US spec is a mistake
Made in Korea or China?
Currently, for cars supplied to Australia and New Zealand, the EV5 is made in China; at a Kia owned and operated factory.
China. EV5 isn’t even available in Korea yet.
Hi Jerry, why are you driving so fast on these small roads. It's a family SUV, not a sports car!
:( Sorry, I wanted to give the audience some insights on how it looks like on windy road although I doubt many will drive in this condition every day. My bad. I will slow down next time.
I think it’s the perspective of the camera he’s using which looks like an X3? Makes it look faster than it is.
@@geoffsemon7411 Thanks. That’s correct. I actually reviewed the video a few times. The camera is set to 30fps and that’s why the surrounding roads disappear quite fast. If it is set to 60fps, things around it will be much smoother.
@@geoffsemon7411 I was looking at the digital speedometer, I presume that's accurate?
@@Richard-sl8we I saw the speedo which wasn't that fast but my comment was on the perspective the camera gives. I use a x3 when I'm paddling my surf ski and it always looks like I'm going faster than I am. ( If 10kmhr can look fast )
In terms of evs, hyundai Kia Tesla are top 3
BYD, MG and other Chinese manufactures are also catching up, while, in New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia and other markets that is not Europe or North America.
@@JerryPanandCars unless china's market is as free as others they will always be behind. In china, a lot of evs catch fire.
I trust BYD more than Kia or Hyundai, but that’s just me. BYD is so experienced in producing EV batteries, compared to Kia or Hyundai.
@@Dom-bn1ru haha chinese need to prove themselves for at least 2 decades just like others did. There is no shortcut no matter how much you chinese try online. Plus china needs to open its market if it wants to enter others. Plus chinese media is not as open as others so non chinese have no reason to trust them more others.
@@Dom-bn1ru nice try chinese 😀😀
you might need to obey the speed limit on the road or test the car in a controlled environment
I came here to say the same
Thanks for pointing that out. I will try and be a better driver next time.
EV5는 뉴질랜드에서도 LFP로 판매하네요. 한국에서도 LFP로 구매할 수 있으면 좋겠네요....뉴질랜드 예비오너들이 부럽네요ㅠ
Lfp is shit
Why is everyone driving on the wrong side of the road, looks weird...
It's not the wrong side of the road, it's the left side of the road.
@@Richard-sl8we exactly, the wrong side. We need some global mandate to force countries to drive on the correct side.
Did u fart in it?
Never buy a frontwheeldrive car
Why?
Almost all cars are front wheel drive xD
?
Hahaha
Looks a bit lower quality inside than my model 3 which is 20k less in price
Your opinion; for me Tesla has a poor quality interior and the ride comfort is too harsh. People in Australia have stopped buying them and there are 100's sitting in the sun at the port in Melbourne.
Ugly car, cheap steel material uou can hear from the door, bad sound noise proof as well, kia cars battery capacity decrease dramatically after two years , only 70-80% left, bad investment, tortally waste money on kia electric cars
:(
I cannot argue with first few things you mentioned and that's of course your opinion.
For battery degradation though, this car has the LFP battery (sourced from BYD according to the news). It is way more durable with longer lifespan compared to the older NMC battery pack.
@@Richard-sl8wewhere's your expert knowledge about LFP battery tech coming from? Probs just trolling and you actually know sweetFA
@@Richard-sl8wewhere's your expert knowledge about LFP battery tech coming from? Probs just trolling and you actually know sweetFA
@@williamjohns1490 Apologies, I wanted to reply to "AntihuaGoxiba" who made a comment about the steel used by Kia and the battery.
LFP batteries are excellent, best in the market currently.
Keep lying dreamer. Kia is ev and design of the year. Even VW buys Mobis battery system and supercars buy NCM instead of cheap Chinese, a totally waste of money. NCM capacity decreases 20% slowly in 10 years. BYD battery range decreases dramtically, only 70% left right now in cold weather. Byd is the worst investment.
