Question. I noticed you only worked with one SD card which was for both the OS and the ROMs? Mine has one for the games and one for the OS. (Left and right) are these two different devices? Sorry if you explained this in your video and I missed it.
theres an option in arkos on the r36s that lets you change between 1 and 2 sd cards. I have another video that shows how to configure a 2 SD card setup if thats what you were interested in. by default, arkos is configured for 1 sd card though
Mine is original panel without fn button but when i tried to flash it on my 32 gb sandisk ultra sd card, it didn't work. I even tried to replace the new dtb files and boot file with the dtb files from my stock card or dti files from aeolus but it still doesn't work, so is there any solutions for that?
I messed with the CPU overvolt setting and it corrupted something I think, now my device shows a black screen but stil boots up and still displays through the hmdi but aslo indicates 0 battery percentage when it's charged. Can anyone help me fix it or do I have to start from scratch?
GENTS! I did a wifi update. Straight after, when I turned on my R36S it would show the logo then just turn into a black screen.. I spent hours trying to figure this out and finally got it to work.. My R36S was the single SD card version. I believe with the update, you will need 2x SD cards to make it work. I copied all the files on a new branded SD card. I put that in the right slot and the old SD card that came with the R36S on the left side and it now works perfectly! Hope this works for you all. Youre welcome 😁
Hi i think all files on my sd card got deleted..is there a way to download the files on internet to move on another sd card...i got the same problem with the black screen..i put the sd card on my smartphone. On my phone was ssying Issues with the device. I removed it and re insert in the game. Now only it seems not switching on. Only the swith on and off led light turns on. But not the screen now
Hi, i purchased an R362 couple weeks ago for my son and it worked fine untill it didnt, i tried doing a fix and it wiped the SD card. ive purchased a new card and followed your instructions but it dosnt turn on at all just a dim red flashing light. it previously ran emulec. any help please?
it sounds like it was a "fake" r36s. you might have luck asking if anyone has an sd image of the original card. afaik, arkos wont work on the clone console
they usually ship with an older or modified version of arkOS, so most people choose to do a fresh install from a known trusted source on a new SD. Some sellers also ship without an SD (accidently or for a slight discount), in which case you would need to supply your own with an OS in order to use the handheld. I have another video showing what it can do out of the box without changing any settings which might be of interest
Everything works and when I boot up the device with the new OS installed, it worked great. When I went to put the new card back in my computer though, BOOT isn't showing up in my file explorer, only EASYROMS. It also shows USB Drive(F) but that's the one that it asks to format. Could this be an issue with my SD card reader or something else you know of? Thanks for the great guide!
i wouldnt worry about boot not showing up, its not a file system windows can read out of the box. the drive letter issue is probably just windows glitching out. a restart should fix it, but i wouldnt worry about it personally
now how do i save games because it does not work. i have tried save state but when i turn off and on the console the save state does not load and just gives me a error. and saving for example pokemon games throught the normal save feature do not work as the save file is not longer there after you refresh
are you using a high quality sd card? this sounds like the symptoms of a failing sd. when pressing save state (fn + right trigger), does it say "state saved" on screen?
yeah when starting fresh you only need the 1 SD. I have made another video on how to setup dual SD cards if thats something you want to do (but you still need to install a fresh copy of ArkOS first)
Bro you are an absolute LEGEND *, much appreciation for your help, I fixed mine and also my friend's R36s, your tutorial is simple and absolutely working. You have earned a subscriber.
you still have to tweak things like n64 cores, but i found the latest versions much more stable than the much older version typically shipped with the r36s
@@SjslTechthank you for the reply. Do SNES games look good on it? The stock ArkOS 2.0 I have is a bit of a mess in something like Super Mario World, with coloring off or colors missing, boxes around objects, and parts of the environment completely vanishing or flickering, distorted audio, and text that is unreadable. I’m hoping the emulators that are packaged on this work better.
@@SjslTechglad to hear. Yeah that’s the first thing that crossed my mind, but it does have ArkOS 2, so I’m not sure how else to tell. The AliExpress seller i used does turn out to be on a known counterfeit list though. The screen does have some washout in the four corners when black, but that may be normal. Not sure what else to check.
you only need to do this is your screen doesnt work with the default arkOS you installed, and you didnt upload your screen file to the online tool to check which version you have. download all the folders from the git shown (screen 1, screen 2, etc), then copy the boot.ini and dtb files over to the boot partition of your fresh ArkOS install (it should ask if you want to overwrite the existing files, press yes). safely eject the sd card from the pc, pop it back in the r36s and see if it works. if still nothing on the screen, repeat the steps again for the next screen files (eg, screen 2)
Watched another channels setup and regretted it. Guy didn't state which Panel to look for and I wasted about 2 hours. Found this video and boom, easy pezy! THANK YOU for making this one dummy proof! Subbed!
I don‘t have the EASYROOMS folder ,and the MiniTool Partition Wizard just do not work ,i can not chenge the leather there is no Way ,IT shows the folder but YOU can’t change IT ,any idea ?
SD1 is the boot SD, and that would be the one to backup and grab the screen files from. SD2 would be the ROMs card. When doing a fresh install, it will be setup as a single card system by default (i have made a guide on how to setup a dual card system once the fresh install is complete if you were interested in that)
@ got it, thanks. So basically I can copy/paste the ROMs from the original sd card to the new one and then, for the OS I still can follow this video? I ask this because from your other video it seems that the original ROMs sd card comes empty, but I don’t think so, right? Thank you again
Amazing video - almost everything worked properly and did what yours did as well. However : I have loaded the roms (copied and pasted to EASYROMS) and it shows 43GB used, so it should be there. My console does not recognize any games though.. any idea?
just checking you put them all in the correct folders? NES roms inside the NES folder, SNES inside snes, etc? are they zipped or unzipped? if zipped, what format? also, if you press start inside arkOS, theres an option to "refresh roms list" which might be worth trying
@@SjslTech yes well I just copied all ROMS from the stock SD and pasted it in a backup folder on my Windows. And in the end copied everything 1:1 on the EASYROMS partition. When I check the folders on my pc, some folders appear to be empty, others aren't (zip folders in it, some just weird files). Should all folders be extracted first?
@@markoosterling7480 zip files should be fine for most\all systems. i would manually copy 1 game (NES for example), make sure its extracted first for testing, and place it inside the correct easyroms folder just to see if the issue is with arkos or the roms
@@SjslTech ok weird but true, ran a test with the game "wimbledon" from gamegear, unzipped it and copied to drive. Now it is visible. Bad news, I think I need ALL folders to do them one after one haha
Quick question, sir: I noticed here at 11:05 that the update is 2.0. I just got mine in the mail today, but it already has ArkOs 2.0. Do I still need to download this update? I am not savvy with these kinds of things; this is my first emulated console. So please, any feedback helps. I might come back with more questions in the future.
although they are both 2.0, there would be many smaller updates (like v2.0.X.Y.Z) in the newer versions, but you dont really need to do a fresh install. if you are happy with it out of the box. The included SD card is likely to fail fairly quickly, so at the minimum you should backup the boot files to make a fresh install easier down the line (and the roms if you like)
@@SjslTech Oh? If that's the case, may I just copy from the original SD card, paste it to my laptop, and then just copy and paste it to the new SD card?
@@DavidandBE unfortunately its not quite that simple. if you dont want to do a fresh install, you could use something like "imageUSB" to clone the cards, but you would need to make sure the new sd card is larger than the old one (and maybe expand the ROMs partition afterwards)
Does your/this version still work now?both of them on a single microsd? Because I would like to have a bigger MicroSD, e.g 128 GB and have them both on one card ( rooms and arkos ) Why I’m asking is because I heard that now you need 2 Micro SD instead of one. the ( games micro sd slot ) has to be formated as exFat and not as fat32 And the second one as you showed but again to be formated as exfat I don’t want 2 microsd but one that’s why I’m asking If indeed your/this version still works, 1 MicroSD instead of one that means that I need to copy all the games from the SD card that came with the R36S and paste it on a fresh new MicroSD ( a Brad new one, formated etc ) but I’m guessing copy paste will work? From the old MicroSD to the new one or are there some specific steps to copy them?
this works as of last week, and i see no reason it shouldnt work now. yeah, you can use 1 sd or 2 (your choice), and can just copy the easy roms folder from the original sd to the new arkos install sd
@@TrungNguyen-zs8zj I have read that too, but they have to conform to a standard to be able to be called "microSD". Im pretty sure people are just formatting them as exfat or ntfs instead of fat32

I copied all the files on a new branded SD card. I put that in the right slot and the old SD card that came with the R36S on the left side and it now works perfectly!
Hope this works for you all. Youre welcome 😁

@SjslTech cheers, thanks for the information. Ill be requesting a refund and purchasing an original.
What is this ArkOS used for? Do I need to install it on the device before I can use it or is it ready to use right out of the box ?
they usually ship with an older or modified version of arkOS, so most people choose to do a fresh install from a known trusted source on a new SD. Some sellers also ship without an SD (accidently or for a slight discount), in which case you would need to supply your own with an OS in order to use the handheld. I have another video showing what it can do out of the box without changing any settings which might be of interest
@@SjslTech thanks for the info 👍
Everything works and when I boot up the device with the new OS installed, it worked great. When I went to put the new card back in my computer though, BOOT isn't showing up in my file explorer, only EASYROMS. It also shows USB Drive(F) but that's the one that it asks to format. Could this be an issue with my SD card reader or something else you know of? Thanks for the great guide!
i wouldnt worry about boot not showing up, its not a file system windows can read out of the box. the drive letter issue is probably just windows glitching out. a restart should fix it, but i wouldnt worry about it personally

you only need to do this is your screen doesnt work with the default arkOS you installed, and you didnt upload your screen file to the online tool to check which version you have.
download all the folders from the git shown (screen 1, screen 2, etc), then copy the boot.ini and dtb files over to the boot partition of your fresh ArkOS install (it should ask if you want to overwrite the existing files, press yes). safely eject the sd card from the pc, pop it back in the r36s and see if it works. if still nothing on the screen, repeat the steps again for the next screen files (eg, screen 2)

Because I would like to have a bigger MicroSD, e.g 128 GB and have them both on one card ( rooms and arkos )
Why I’m asking is because I heard that now you need 2 Micro SD instead of one.
the ( games micro sd slot ) has to be formated as exFat and not as fat32
And the second one as you showed but again to be formated as exfat
I don’t want 2 microsd but one that’s why I’m asking

you would need to find a program to write the image to the sd card (something like balenaetcher)
@@SjslTech ive got it to the sd card I just get a flashing red light on the console
@@SuperNathan90 its possible it didnt write correctly, or you have the wrong screen file
@@SjslTech possible but I think I worked out I have a clone console
@@SjslTech don't think its a clone has all the correct chips, but tried everything still get flashing light or a non powering console
Thanks a lot, you save me bro❤
Спасибо, очень помогло
How do you do this when your original card has a bunch of folders with nothing in it and my screen is just black.. didn’t even have a gaming system to begin with, just a black screen. Over this stupid waste of money
I would start with v4 screen image, and if it doesnt work, try the other screen files mentioned. Also try contacting the seller to see if they can send a working sd card
My r36s didn't come with any micro sd card..so its empty.I purchased two new sd cards one for system sandisk 32GB and samsung micro sd card 64GB for games..please help me..😭😭😭
try using v4 arkos image first, and if that doesnt work, go through all the screen files one by one. if you want to use the 2nd sd for roms, there should be an option in arkos to "setup 2nd sd"
I got the device. I booted updated version on a new sd card. Everything was fine. I tried to install postmaster via ethernet. Bam. Nothing happened and I have a 2GB non working sd card now. It was a 128gb card. Can I recover my sd card? 😂
you could start fresh and write a new arkOS image using rufus. your sd will still be 128gb, just partitioned (you will lose all your files on the SD when you write a new image). im not too sure what went wrong with portmaster though. i have a video out soon on how to setup and use portmaster which might help
@@SjslTech I tried many ways which includes Rufus. Still there is no solution.
@@stranqer771 on the latest version of rufus, select the correct sd card and pick "non bootable". under the filename keep it empty. click start. once its formatted, inside explorer right click on the sd card and click properties. double check the filesize there. let me know how you go
@@SjslTech I tried but the result is same.
@@stranqer771 are you able to upload of a pic of "disk management"?
I followed every step, and when going to enter in the systems, it gives an error of NO GAMEPADS DETECTED. Tried different panels, and .dtb, and it always ends into the same error. 😢😢
are you 100% it is a genuine console and not a clone? if its legit, you could copy your old dtb files from the original sd card over
I don‘t have the EASYROOMS folder ,and the MiniTool Partition Wizard just do not work ,i can not chenge the leather there is no Way ,IT shows the folder but YOU can’t change IT ,any idea ?
what step are you stuck at?
I have installed the operating sistem and it does work ,but i have no games ,AND from the old sd card i can’t GET them Because IT does not show me the easyroom folder
When i put the sd card in my PC ,i have only the E:Boot
@@JosipJelic-s1h ahh, are you on a windows pc? if so, its possible windows didnt "auto-mount" the 2nd parition. if so, you can open "disk management", find your sd card in there (look for correct size and drive letter of the first partition), and right click on the 2nd partition (should be the larger of the 2) and click "assign drive letter" - can just pick whatever letter is free. click next\ok and it should show up in explorer
I did try This already but IT wont do IT ,i dont know why ,is there anywhere a image of the easyrooms where i can Download IT ,Because nothing else work ,and i can’t find IT anywhere on the web ,or Maybe the second sd card image with games on IT to Download
hi i have a problem, when i put the original sd in the computer i don't get the boot part but only the page where there are the emulator folders, how can i understand which screen my r36s mounts? thanks.
double check its a genuine r36s before you proceed (arkOS wont install if its a clone)
@SjslTech yes it is authentic because it arrived with arkos already installed. and only that the sd card is not reliable and I want to replace it with a scandisk.
ahh ok, assuming you are on windows, it might not have assigned a drive letter for that partition. if you are using a USB SD reader, changing the port should make windows re-assign drive letters. if not, opening disk management (right click start menu > disk management), selecting the first partition on the SD card drive and clicking "change drive letter" should let you manually add a drive letter.
Be VERY careful in disk management as you can accidently destroy all your data on the pc or other drives
@@SjslTechThanks, I'll try it as soon as I get home and let you know.
@@SjslTech thanks it worked. but now I have another problem, when I insert the second SD card into the left slot, it gives me this error.... "unable to find a fat, fat32, exfat, ext4 or ntfs based SD card to mount from slot2". how can I solve it? Thank you.
When I press select to click on the arkos img, the file or wtv doesn’t show for me. Is there anything I’m doing wrong
do you mean when you upload the screen files to check which panel?
@ no it’s when I use Rufus and I’m going to click select img and the arkos file doesn’t show for me
@@mateomacias9155 navigate to your downloads folder, and make sure you extract the zip first
@@SjslTechI was able to get arkos all good and the game boots up but there are little to no emulators how do I get more
Wait nvm
