this is an interesting one! what sd card are you using? its possible thats the cause of all your issues. if you have another spare laying around, i would try a fresh install on that (just to rule it out). in my tests, if you have the wrong screen files, you get nothing on the screen (not even the "_"). so this again makes me think of a bad install or bad sd card. what screen type did the online tool identify? also, does your stock SD still work and boot fine?

it can run a few linux distros which makes it way more useful, but for everyday use its still not recommended. thanks for watching!

the left SD is purely for ROMs on the clones stock OS. by default, the fresh arkOS install will read roms from the same sd card it was installed to (right slot). you can set arkOS to read roms from the right slot, but theres currently issues so its not recommended. to answer your question, i would keep the left side sd (stock one full of roms) out of the console and keep it somewhere safe like inside the box it came in

Ok then after downloading the arkos system in the right sd and its works . Should i back the left sd witch have all of the games or it will have two system now ?!

@@skratchyspy the fresh install wont have any games on it, so you will want to copy over any games from the old SD to the new sd. it sounds like your r36s has internal flash it boots from, so with your new SD card inserted in the right slot it will boot from that SD, and with no SD cards in the right slot it will boot from the internal flash

its possible windows isnt mounting the partition, or you could have a clone console. double check its a legit r36s (easiest would be to remove all sd cards from the handheld and power it on - if anything appears on the screen then its a clone

this is a strange one! are you using a dual sd card setup?

@SjslTech Yes, it's actually my friend's console. He asked me to put some games on it. I thought I just needed to put the games on the second SD card in second slot. After I put the second SD card in the console, all the games from the first SD card were gone. I need to use force mount external to load the games back. 😅😅 any idea how to solve this?? I aldy checked my friend console its a clone

you will always need an sd card in slot 1 to boot from in genuine r36s consoles

you do need internet access to stream games. you could use a little wifi adapter like in the video, or use usb tethering from your android phone

yeah, we are mainly using the stock DTB files to identify what screen we have, but if for whatever reason you cant get any screen files to work on the fresh install then you should be able to use your stock screen files (copied over to the new sd cards boot patition) the arkOS image we write using rufus contains 3 partitions, including the easyroms partition. it creates all these blank folders since some people dont have access to their stock SD roms, dont want to use the weird stock roms included or just want to copy over the systems they want. the fresh image does not come with any roms and you will need to add them yourself

this specific build doesnt work on the clones, but there is a special version of arkOS for the r36s clones. I have a video guide if you are interested :)

double check you have a legit r36s and not a clone before you continue - theres a load of great info on reddit which shows what to look for

@@lowly7303 there is a custom arkos build for the clones too, which hopefully works on your (its still not as good as a genuine tho, so if possible try and return it). I have a video on how to install arkos on the clones if you decide to go that route which might help

if you have access to your original SD then this is an option

have you tried different chargers for your r36s clone? as for save files, they are generally in the same folder as the ROMs (eg, gba folder for gba saves)

​@@SjslTech Yes, it just dont react to any charges. Probably dead battery. I do have r36s. but saves are not visible. They are there (so i can play the game), but i cant export save to nowhere.

@ its possible your pc is hiding them, but if you navigate to the systems folder inside easy roms (eg N64), there should be the rom file, and with the exact same name but with a different extension should be the save file... for example "Ocarina of Time.N64" & "Ocarina of Time.sav"

you can try the other 2 links next to the google drive link - they should all be mirrors of the same file

if you have 2 sd readers, its as easy as connecting both sd cards to your pc and dragging the roms over from the old sd card to the new one! if you only have 1 sd reader, then you will need to copy them to your pc first, and then from the pc to the new sd card

I havent tried the portmaster app on the r36s clone yet, but the 3 ports seen in this video can be installed manually from the portmaster website. The basic steps are pretty much the same as my GTA Vice City portmaster guide video, but in my tests have noticed some controls are mapped incorrectly (depending on the game) ruclips.net/video/Sr-p8lVRUuE/видео.html

@ looking up the game on the compatibility chart shows the short name as "tentacle". I obviously cant help with obtaining the game, but pretty much copy everything I did in the video but replace mother goose with day of the tentacle or LSL

it depends on how its connected internally. give it a try, and if your drive doesnt show up in Rufus, try click "list USB HDDs"

this is only really good if your stock SD has fully corrupted and you want to continue using the stock OS on the built in flash. I have a video on how to install arkOS on these clones coming out tomorrow (my other arkOS guide is for genuine r36s units)

So you have to download those batch files and games? I thought I downloaded the games from somewhere but no batch files that I know of. And it’s zipped. Does it need to be unzipped. All this is so confusing. I just wanted to play games for cheap and now I’m 70$ and days in and no games still

@ if you already have the sd card, you can just copy paste that over to a fresh sd. this video is really for if you didnt get a stock SD or its fully corrupted. if you are wanting to create a fresh SD, you just need to create the correct system folders its looking for. you can either download the zip, unzip it on your device so all the folders are on the root (first thing you see when opening the sd card), OR copy the batch file to the sd and double click on it and it will create all the folders you need. you will still need to add your own games to the folders

how did you "copy" the sd card? if you cloned a 64gb to a 128gb card, you would need to expand the roms partition. I would personally just do a fresh install of arkos on the new 128gb card, then drag all the roms over. as for the write protection issue, if you are using a microSD to SD adapter, double check the little switch on the adapter isnt set to "lock". also, it could just be windows marking the drive as read only - try restarting your pc, or right clicking on the drive > permissions > change ownership (recursive)

@SjslTech I used a program called Win32 disk imager it's all working and cloned i think i need to expand the ROMs partition like you said because all my leftover memory is in the other folder how would I do that?

@@Stompa1989 its much easier to just do a fresh install of the latest version of arkOS. if you still just want to expand your partition, be aware that some programs may damage the partition table and make it no longer boot. I believe some other users on reddit have gone this route and might be able to better assist

@SjslTech thanks for replying, I've sorted it now. I just needed to expand the roms partition, which I did through diskgenius. This is all new to me learning lol but thanks anyway

when you initially boot (even with the wrong screen files), its important to wait 2-3 min for it to finish its initial setup (even though the screen is blank). after a few min, hard power off the system and start trying the screen files once more

@@SjslTech Thanks for a swift response. Caught me off guard.😅 Using the tool in the website that assess which panel is the correct panel. I was met with "unrecognized file" so, following your instructions, try all the other panel files. Ive met no success. I thought perhaps dropping the all the files from the panel folder into the drive. Look forward to your guidance. Thank you.

@@SameetJeer double check you have a legit r36s and not a clone. if the online tool cant detect it, its either a clone or a different screen revision. if you still have access to the original sd card, you might be able to copy the stock dtb files over

@@SjslTech so the main reason why i have had to go through this is because, i corrupted my og stock card by playing with the settings. Would a copy and paste work from the og card to a new one since ive corrupted the former? i also thought it worth mentioning, ive managed to download a functioning Arkos onto the device and after following your guide (which is the only reliable source) i have message expressing (no gamepads detected)

@@SameetJeer a copy paste by itself won't work, but you might have luck copying the dtb files over to the fresh arkOS sd to hopefully fix the gamepad issue

@@SjslTech Unfortunately that didn't help. When I went into disk management that 128GB drive had 4 spaces to it. a black bar 16MB unallocated. 512MB Healthy (EFI System partition) <--(pretty sure that's the one i need) 8.0GB (Primary partition) and a EasyRoms (J:) 103.79 GB exfat. I made a backup of the Easy roms from the last video and it shows up as Drive J:. But the system partition is inaccessible. when I right click , every option is greyed out except "Help" which just opens Windows tutorials online. Not giving up yet though

@@livebyhonor if it wont let you assign a drive letter to the 512mb partition, it sounds like windows is locking that partition for some reason. you could try restarting your pc, and if that doesnt work, restart in safe mode which should allow you to backup the boot files to your pc (and then just restart normally)

this video assumes you are running the latest version of arkos. if you are using the stock OS or have a clone its likely it wont work

the one in slot 1 (right hand side) is the one that holds the boot files

it sounds like you have a clone console and your stock sd has failed. remove all sd cards and turn the system on - if you still see the message "no systems found" then you have a clone, and just need to create all the correct folders on a fresh sd and copy some games over (this version of arkos will not work on it unfortunately)

@Ra_knight7 i have a video coming out on how to do it this tuesday, but its super easy to do... basically, format a high quality sd card as fat32 (ideally not the stock one since that will fail again). next, create all the system folders on the sd card (download and extract the zip drive.google.com/drive/folders/17kgPWl4JVUe7IW3Mxf76HdmrjRpAIBbU), and then just copy your roms over to the correct folders and put the sd card back in the left slot on your r36s clone

its default on the latest versions of AeolusUX arkOS build. are you using the stock OS?

@SjslTech ah okay, no flashed new SD cards using your guide with ark OS from AeolusUX.

@ oh you are correct! they changed it so now "select" starts the screensaver (no longer need fn + select). if you press start on the main menu > ui settings > screensaver > change type to "blank" it will turn the screen off. you can change it back after scraping if needed

does the update file appear on the sd card? if so, then your unit might already be patched out of the factory and doesnt need to be done again
