    I get pop color, I am in Real Estate for 30 plus and have bought more then my share of homes, to pop a bathroom with heavy color like greens, purple in the tiles, when that goes out in 5 to 8 years, it will be really dated. one should pop with accents in cabinets. tiles need to stay even tones. or you will go out real quick, and not everybody likes greens. The early 70's when I was a kid, all the hard colors that were popular, and you paid extra for the upgrade, in the less then 10 years later, all light colors and beiges. was all the rage, the houses 10 years earlier that got standard fixtures, with white appliances, and light cabinets sold for 10% more then the upgraded trendy colors that one paid extra. You never go wrong with staying basic in the expensive stuff like wall tile, floors. and trendy with the accents. take it from a 37 year house investor.

      Thank you Robert, for sharing your valuable insights from all your years of experience! I agree it is more practical to use the trendy colors sparingly. For example I put some
      "trendy" peel and stick wallpaper behind my bathroom vanity mirror, that I can easily change out if it becomes dated. What trend do you think is going to be "out" really quickly?

    I still like white bathroom, especially for the small bathroom. Furthermore, one can not change their bathroom every year according to trend! As my son said to me once..."I want my trend," and he likes timeless

    • @pennymodern
      @pennymodern  9 месяцев назад

      Totally agree that you want the design to be somewhat timeless. White is a great choice but some people have had a white bathroom for 15 years, and are ready for a change. Are you looking to do any renovations any time soon?

    • @HomeFromFarAway

      trends are useful for new ideas when a room actually does get upgraded. few people would ever remodel every year but when we do, boy do we need all the good ideas we can find!

    I like the wood look tiles giving a more earthy feel and warmth to the bathroom. Thinking about doing just an accent wall in wood look and the rest in warm white.

    I am loving your content, it's not the same OBVIOUS stuff many others spout out over luxurious or horrendous decor photos.
    I did sound production for many years, and I'm just suggesting you consider throwing out words in your script that wouldn't come up in your normal speech patterns. Trade _furthermore_ for _also,_ _as well as_ for _and._ You can also get a far more natural read with a couple of tricks (depends on the voice actor.) One is to have a glass or three of wine before hitting the mic, having a friend (or a picture of them and pretend) in the booth (room) with you and speak _to them._ Another that's hard to muster if you're shy, but worked great for me, is going over the top with your performance. Try to imitate a stewardess doing the safety demo, a demented used car salesman's 3 am TV spot or that gossipy aunt you used to sit next to at the church picnic. Getting "out" of yourself can honestly really help you find your own rhythm and tone.
    Keep it up. Great stuff.

    • @pennymodern
      @pennymodern  9 месяцев назад +3

      HI Dara, I know it's crazy that beige, taupe, and browns are coming back in style. Sometimes you just want something different. I would recommend creamy white walls, and maybe use warm wood tones for the vanity, along with some modern, but classic tiles.

      What modernized my bathroom a lot was adding black! I painted my mirror cabinet and changed the plastic beige 80s towel hooks with a black towel rail and it looks amazing and modern with the beige and brown from former centuries.
      Also changing other hardware like the holder for toilet paper can make a huge difference

    Wouldn't a blue bathroom just be a passing trend? I could see painting the walls and adding accessories in blue, but not the tiling, unless you can afford to switch it out in a few years.
    Also, IMO, when you have a large bathroom and are aiming to make it your sanctuary, a toilet and/or bidet should be behind another wall so you don't have to see it.

    • @pennymodern

      It might help to chop the recording session into shorter sections so you can pause in between and keep the energy going. reading a loooong passage of text is pretty draining and then editing it afterwards is worse.
      well done on good, useful content, so many bathroom videos are actually not even vaguely useful ❤
