@@thenotsookayguy Étude d'exécution transcendante d'après Paganini no. 4 (1838 version) has also a tempo marking! It's Andante quasi allegretto so it's like ~ quarter note=116 bpm Nikolai Patrov can play it at ~104 bpm
@@Vexalord Well, but no. The score has a tempo marking added by the editor of the sheet, but Liszt left it unmarked. Oh and I'm pretty sure Nikolia played it closer to 60bpm
@@thenotsookayguy No, regarding Patrov, I measured his speed with a metronome. Concerning Liszt, the fact that no metronome marking is left does not surprise me because he did not always give them. On the other hand, I am very surprised that Liszt left this movement without tempo indications in Italian because it is contrary to the usual way in which he worked with publishers. Did you have access to the manuscript?
Yep, this is the 2nd one for S.700, its like no.1, but after the animato from no.1, you'll enter a whole new world, because after that, you have to play the crazy hand crossing part. And it contains a much crazy coda.

Shame he rushes 13:00 , it's so much better when it's taken slowly. Otherwise, great performance.

Is this harder than Étude d'exécution transcendante d'après Paganini no. 4 (1838 version) ?
Yes, and unlike that Etude it has a tempo marking.
