A MUCH better explanation and demonstration of this product than the first video I watched. In the first one the reviewer used high speed jets that he had NO business flying... quickly wrecked them and giggled. I've been away from flying RC for over 20 years.. am 60 years old now and am thinking about getting back into it. I still have all of my planes, glow engines and radios. Thought this program might give me some stick time without crashing up everything I own. Thanks for this MUCH better review
@@brettskinner5824 yeah it's kind of BS they have 1 military style jet, the F15. something tells me its planned so they can offer an upgrade for another $100
I wanted to purchase this but I see there is only 1 Align heli, an older trex 500 with a flybar. Why not add some more modern Align heli’s like the trex 550x and such. Im not going to purchase this if there is no support for Align. Even Blade heli’s are few, were is the 330s ?
It's very disappointing that Knife-edge is no longer supporting the DVD version of RF 9.5. Up-grading to the steam version is free, but it makes the DVD's un-usable. Since RF is sporting the Spektrum Transmitter, it would have been nice if they included audio switch events.
Just upgraded from RF7.5 to 9.5. Very familiar user interface so there wasn't much of a User transition, and it didn't require a steep learning curve. I consider that a plus. I am however disappointed that RealFlight did not recognize an obvious failure mode on their new Interlink DX Controller. The USB cable coming through the grommet at the top of the case is burdened by the bulky, and heavy, EMI choke wrapped on the cable. Repeated flexing of the cable running through the grommet eventually damages the internal wires. Using a couple of Cable-Ties, I affixed the Choke to the Handle on the back of the case to keep the emerging cable from flexing. Easy fix. Come visit FLORIDA FUNPORT INTERNATIONAL airport on Multiplayer 9.5. Fly between 4 very detailed airports, and maybe I can even add a few more when I get time. Definitely check out OUTER LIMITS, an airport on the extreme edge, where the graphics airport transitions to the photofield. A Twilight Zone experience. Hope to see y'all there. Thanks guys for the great video.
Better make sure you buy a usb 2.0 hub and run your interlink thru it. What they aren’t telling you about here is the unacceptable 1/2 second LAG AND DELAY the interlink controller is having with new usb 3.0 on newer PCs. Had to troubleshoot for hours then came across a forum thread on how to fix the lag that was causing unacceptable input delay and crashes. If you run a 2.0 hub (either powered or non powered) from your Pc, then plug interlink into the 2.0 hub it will eliminate the lag. You’re welcome. Guys were saying horizon hobby themselves had zero clue on how to fix this. Figured I’d put the solution with their “promo” of this product. Once working right is is an exceptional product. I’m also running it thru my hd out to my 6 foot 4k tv and it works just fine now 👍
We are aware of and already working to resolve this issue long-term. In the meantime, the issue is caused by the computer, not the InterLink, and MOST (95+% of RealFlight users) are not affected. Those affected simply need to use a separate powered or non-powered USB hub to resolve the issue caused by their particular computer.
@@HorizonHobbyProducts it’s good youre finally acknowledging the issue when you didn’t before but the fact remains: i spent alot of money on the product. As well as another 2k or more on hh planes and products. And when i went to use your product I was frustrated and lost. Had troubleshoot myself for hours because the problems that you guys want to try to minimalizecby saying “95% of our users don’t have this issue” is much more widespread than you think or want to admit to. Just look at any forum and the real world guys discussing this. The issue happened on a brand new out of the box hp i7 laptop. Not a cheap pos entry level machine. Since I got mine I found out another club member had the same issue on an even higher end brand new dell. So I’m glad you’re addressing the issue, but it’s rather immature for you to try to pass the blame onto the users Pc or hardware. Fix your product and stop trying to pass the buck man. Also you brag up and down about all the current planes being in here?? No way. No ranger 1200mm no ranger 800, no rv-7, no leader 480, no carbon cub, no super ez? Where’s all the new planes you’re bragging about? Do I have to buy them seperately from the software? When are you gonna stop bragging on the new site design and actually restock all the back ordered products on your site? Lots of work ahead guys stop bragging passing blame and tie up your loose ends. A lot of guys in my club are disappointed in ya younglings.
@@jetsetretro Well said. People are tired of the old software dev excuse of blaming the hardware. My problem was even worse than yours. Program crashed or altogether refused to load at all. I was able to get RF to load a few times but never could calibrate anything on the controller. This was on a top of the line Razer gaming laptop that, until RF, ran everything I threw at it. After several hours of troubleshooting I called it quits. Returned RF to my RC store for a refund. Wish I could get back the wasted hours. I downloaded AccuRC which runs like a top.
I have just bought RF 9.5 on steam. When the simulator loads, it crashes saying "not responding". The sim is fully unplayable. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Any advice on what to do?
This could be the issue you're encountering....per the RF developers: "The short version is that RF9/9.5 works with driver version 20.4.2, which is AMD's recommended driver. RealFlight and many other DircectX 9 titles do not run with the newest drivers. To be clear, this is a problem caused by the AMD drivers, not a change to RealFlight.: • With the "Recommended" (by AMD) 20.4.2 driver, RealFlight 9/9.5 runs fine. • With the "Latest" 20.8.1 driver, RealFlight 9/9.5 hangs on the loading screen and stops responding. The "Recommended" driver is the one that AMD designates as stable. A quick survey suggests that the "Latest" driver, while not named as a beta, seems to have issues on many titles, not just RealFlight."
Hi,which best laptop (in graphics) would you consider for Realflight 9 (price range: $800 ).For me a flight simulator only makes sense, if you have realistic high quality graphics. For the moment we use RC Next simulator for helicopters with an old NVIDIA graphics processor with medium quality.
I just got RF9 and added wx1000, I am using a Dx-8 transmitter. Does it not allow me to use all my switches. I was trying to set it up the same way I fly it at the field. For some reason it renders half my switches useless. The aren’t found when I try to assign them in controller set up. I move them and nothing happens. I thought the dongle acted just like a receiver. Can you give any suggestions.
You should've added a simple Pause function; also being able to pause the game in 3D mode and save the position and aircraft type, and reload it later midair with another model. When you're paying $100 for a simple upgrade you could have included a new 3D scenery as an alternative to the Sierra textures, something different, like Scandinavian topography with fjords and mountains. Otherwise it's an excellent sim and fun to use, especially with the hundreds of addons made by passionate users.
The WS1000 only gives 4 ch! WS100, DX7S, RF8 DVD and 9.5 Steam. Aileron, Elevator, Rudder, Throttle. NO Flaps or Gear. "Flight Mode/Dual rates" and "Hold/Throttle Cut" are not channels... I can't change the flaps or close that damn ramp on the EC1500. These three things should work fllawlessly. I should have at least 6 real channels, like a real receiver, right?
I would sure like for you guys to show how to setup the ix12 with this. I have the spectrum wireless dongle you sell and this product and cant seem to get the switches to do the right thing.
I think it would be awesome if you guys would put a poll on Facebook or whatever, asking which aircraft your customers would want added to RF9. Love playing it at my local hobby shop.
I have been using the RealFlight sim's since RF4, and the flat earth you could fly past the edge of. I have also bought and used RF6, RF7, updated to RF7.5, RF8, and all of the expansion packs and add-on's. So I know a little about RealFlight. And I wanted to say that this is the best discussion and presentation of RealFlight that I have ever seen. Well done, guys! 👍 Coincidentally, I went to my local hobby shop today and picked up RF9. Since I use a Spektrum DX8G2, it will be so much nicer to use an Interlink that is the same as my actual RC transmitter! 😎
HorizonHobbyProducts thanks! Will you ever offer native mac compatibility? There’s a huge number of Mac users out there ready to buy this should it become Mac compatible. Boot camp is not worth the pain and is far too difficult for most.
Question - if I would buy the package with the controller, and use the ‘code’ on the box to install it on my laptop, can I also then install it on my desktop as well, or do I have to purchase another software version and do a separate install?
I vote for the upgrade at a lower cost. As for now another $100 each year is rough and not really worth the change. However at a lower cost as I'm already a customer and owner of a real flight version would be worth it. :)
I heard something suggesting you can only fly the aircraft in the simulator if you already own it in real life. ( 27:32 ) Is this true and does this mean if I only own one rc plane that's the only one I can fly in the simulator? I'd like to test how other RC planes fly using the simulator without buying them first
RealFlight 9.5 includes more than 170 aircraft and 40 different flying sites you can use at any time. From the product page ( www.horizonhobby.com/product/realflight-9.5-flight-simulator-with-interlink-controller/RFL1200.html ): "With more than 170 different aircraft to fly - including airplanes, helicopters, drones and more - at over 40 different flying sites, plus the ability to edit aircraft and sites, there's an almost infinite number of flying options available. Add in game-like challenges that make flight training fun, multiplayer options so you can fly and compete with other pilots online, compatibility with VR headsets, and many, many more features, and you have everything you need to succeed at the field - because you can "fly" on a desktop at home, or on a laptop just about anywhere else!"
How many channels are available on the wireless dongle? And is there any documentation / SDK available for the wired controller and the wireless dongle? Would be neat to control robotic platforms or rc hauler trucks using such a wireless dongle connected to a arduino or raspberry pi.
Thanks for the discussion boys, looks great; have my PC laptop from Dell built and ready... waiting on the Sept shipment of RC9 with the DX interlink controller; looking forward to trying my DX8 with the wireless dongle... thanks again.
3:38 ... so if I have this right, you get the convenience of being tethered to your pc with a cord .. I see. Does 9.5 have this same 'convenience' ? 🤣🥱😕😞
Can you advise best settings to use when projecting to an HD Tv with the HDMI cord. I am getting pixelation of the model making the quality not looking to realistic. Warren South Africa
Good review. I do have Aerofly RC 5 on Mac and that was cool. Can't find any comparisons between that one and yours. Might order RF to practice wintertime :-) Can you have it installed on several computers as in desktop and your laptop, or do you have to purchase 2 licenses?
I never liked using my DX9 Gen2 as a controller for RF7.5. Thats why i bought RF9 with the new InterLinkDX controller. The USB cable is just perfect. And the controller feels similar to the Spektrum radios.
we are the 31 juli 2021. new planes are coming.... (turbo timber evolution, eflite viper 90, etc....) these planes shall be includes in real flight 9.5 (with a patche) ???
RealFlight was developed from the ground up for PC/Windows use nearly two decades ago. Unfortunately it would be extremely costly and time consuming to re-develop it for use on Mac. That said, you can purchase a laptop/Chromebook with Windows that will easily run RealFlight for less than $200, or you can purchase and install Windows on a Mac using Boot Camp (which Apple includes on Macs for exactly this reason: support.apple.com/boot-camp ).
When using a DX eight generation two and trying to use a Blade 230s in the mode selection only beginner works properly intermediate or advanced does not work properly A fix is needed.
does this have Mini quads also? they meantione VR goggle can I use my Fatsharks? My problem with the SIM is the feeling it doent feel natural Flying with goggles as if I'm standing at the field I think would help a lot. as well if there is mini quads and learning FPV as well.
You mentioned a few great new models, please add FMS models, i will order a real flite 9 as soon as you add an FMS jet, like the AVANTI or FUTURA...Thanks.
Do you have any training on how to build your own airport adding the airport I fly at here in Rochester? I took pics and flew my Phantom 4 around getting shots. Like to get into building an airport. There was an AMA video that talked about it but didn't go into it to much
Can different users log in and therefore let the software track their progress separately? It seems that the software unlocks a particular skill but I don't want that because I will have multiple students using it at different times. Thanks
Can i use my own transmitter, with a trainer cable for example, and change how the model behaves relative to program and function changes I make within the transmitter? Do I have to use a Spektrum Tx to take advantage of the RF interface?
You can use a computer transmitter and make adjustments in the transmitter (e.g. exponential and control rates) that will affect the function of the model in the sim (just like they would affect an actual model). You can also make these changes for each model in the sim with any controller/transmitter. And RealFlight works with any controller/transmitter that can connect to a PC and operate as a game controller/joystick! This includes the Spektrum InterLink DX simulator controller (which includes a USB connector: www.horizonhobby.com/product/interlink-dx-simulator-controller-with-usb-plug/SPMRFTX1.html ), all Spektrum NX series transmitters (by using a USB-C cable: www.horizonhobby.com/search?q=NX+transmitter+only&search-button=&lang=default&srule=price-low-to-high&sz=24 ), and all other Spektrum transmitters using the WS2000 Wireless Simulator Dongle (for wireless operation: www.horizonhobby.com/product/ws2000-wireless-simulator-usb-dongle/SPMWS2000.html ). Other brands of controllers/transmitters will also work, but these options offer the easiest compatibility/operation!
Hi, may I ask how does this simulator compare to others, like X-plane ? I want to validate the dynamic stability of a RC model project. Thank you in advance
i bought this with the dongle2000 and connect it with dx9 i am not able to control helicopoter right , not able to set switched between as3x to on or off, any link where i can set my dx9 right for this. ?
Neither my Interlink nor my NX10 will work on my computer. This computer is only 5 years old. The RF 9.5s has been downloaded, but my computer will not recognize my controllers. Help!
Yes! You can use the DXe transmitter with a Spektrum WS2000 Wireless Simulator Dongle ( www.horizonhobby.com/product/ws2000-wireless-simulator-usb-dongle/SPMWS2000.html ) purchased separately.
I had RF 7.5 and loved it. My computer bricked. I wanted to download it a few years ago, but it was no longer available for download after getting my new machine. Since then I bought another new computer. I now have no idea of my serial number, product number or whatever the number is called. Big Bummer. How long until the same thing happens with RF 9?
As long as you have the CD/DVD to load the software and/or the serial number we can get you up and running so always be sure to hang on to one or both of those! Or, another option that's becoming popular is to purchase RF9 on Steam. Then you can download and use it on many different devices...pretty much forever!
@@HorizonHobbyProductsThanks. At this time I might find the serial number in a file on an old external hard drive some place, but it's likely that it would take quite some time to find again. I had the serial number in hand those few years ago when I tried to find a site from which to download it when I got the first replacement computer, but it was no longer available on line at that time. I never understood why. These days they don't put disc drives in hardly any new computers and my new computer doesn't have one. You seem to be saying there's a download site available now and I can get back up and running with the serial number. What's the link? Maybe I can load it onto an SD card or in C Drive and find the serial number when I can take the time to search for it. I think I also wrote the serial number in a notebook, but that was some years back. Finding that old notebook might be a miracle. As I recall the simulator loaded into the computer with the disc drive, but required the serial number before it would activate. I'll likely have to buy a new dongle. I remember buying a replacement dongle because the original one quit working and I doubt I could find the replacement dongle I bought. Thanks.
@@southernexposure123 We did check and unfortunately it is not possible to download RealFlight 7.5...the software for that version can only be loaded/installed from the original DVD as noted here: www.realflight.com/support/kb/article.php?p=RealFlight7&q=16-1036 However, we do offer digital download options for RF8, RF8 HHE and RF9 now for those who do not have a disc drive, lose the original DVDs, etc: www.realflight.com/dlrf8/ In any of these cases you must have the serial number to prove ownership of the simulator/license. Or, you can purchase RealFlight on Steam because then you can download and use it on many devices, even without the serial number, pretty much forever: store.steampowered.com/app/1070820/RealFlight_9/
@@HorizonHobbyProducts That download information is the same I gathered previously. Thanks for confirming it's the same now. The remainder I understand.
After flying real aircraft, high wing Cesna's and my favorite, the Piper Cherokee 180 B, I feel this will be beneficial to my learning curve of RC aircraft as it IS different from real flight!
How realistic is this. Let’s say I’ve never flown an RC plane before. If I put the time into this and got good at flying would I be able to transfer to a real beginner RC plane and be a decent flyer?
You'll need the Spektrum WS2000 Wireless Simulator Dongle ( www.horizonhobby.com/product/ws2000-wireless-simulator-usb-dongle/SPMWS2000.html ) to use your DX6 with RealFlight wirelessly. Or you can purchase RF9 with the Spektrum InterLink DX Simulator Controller with USB Plug ( horizonhobby.com/product/rf9-flight-simulator-with-spektrum-controller/RFL1100.html ) then use that controller. The InterLink DX is also available separately ( www.horizonhobby.com/product/interlink-dx-simulator-controller-with-usb-plug/SPMRFTX1.html ).

BRO. Are you the one who hosted that airport? I loved that one. It's cool to hear you're still hosting it. Maybe I'll drop by again sometime.
DEAR STAFF AT HORIZON HOBBY I HAVE THE REALFLIGHT 7 AND I WANT TO USE THE JUMPER T8SG PLUS TRANSMITTER COULD YOU TELL ME HOW THANK YOU
When is the E-flight F-18 coming to the program? I'm a bit nervous about flying it and this would be perfect for training.
When ?
Could you guys put in a winter flying field or two?
Great suggestion!! We're going to add it to our list of ideas for future updates :)
@@HorizonHobbyProducts Thank you.
I have just bought RF 9.5 on steam. When the simulator loads, it crashes saying "not responding". The sim is fully unplayable. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Any advice on what to do?
This could be the issue you're encountering....per the RF developers:
"The short version is that RF9/9.5 works with driver version 20.4.2, which is AMD's recommended driver. RealFlight and many other DircectX 9 titles do not run with the newest drivers. To be clear, this is a problem caused by the AMD drivers, not a change to RealFlight.:
• With the "Recommended" (by AMD) 20.4.2 driver, RealFlight 9/9.5 runs fine.
Thanks you. I have downloaded the stable version and it works fine. Thanks again
Hi guy heard you say you can put yourself in cockpit how this is done?
I just got RF9 and added wx1000, I am using a Dx-8 transmitter. Does it not allow me to use all my switches. I was trying to set it up the same way I fly it at the field. For some reason it renders half my switches useless. The aren’t found when I try to assign them in controller set up. I move them and nothing happens. I thought the dongle acted just like a receiver. Can you give any suggestions.
Thanks guys for the details on the digital download aspects. Just what I needed.
For me the USB transmitter sticks are to hard to move even on the lightestes setting. Its so bad, that my fingers hurt after 5 minutes of 3D flying.
If there is some decent black friday pricing on the full version I'll buy it just for the fun of it.
I think it would be awesome if you guys would put a poll on Facebook or whatever, asking which aircraft your customers would want added to RF9. Love playing it at my local hobby shop.
I have a RF8 ... want to move to RF9 ... but only if I can pur my OWN custom Airfield and Custom Airplane and Drone. ADVICE? Links? PLEASE 😊
Will the IX20 work with this? Thank You.
Can you assign different channels to any switch on the included controller ?
When are we going to see the latest EDF jets and warbirds added?
I have been using the RealFlight sim's since RF4, and the flat earth you could fly past the edge of. I have also bought and used RF6, RF7, updated to RF7.5, RF8, and all of the expansion packs and add-on's. So I know a little about RealFlight. And I wanted to say that this is the best discussion and presentation of RealFlight that I have ever seen. Well done, guys! 👍
Coincidentally, I went to my local hobby shop today and picked up RF9. Since I use a Spektrum DX8G2, it will be so much nicer to use an Interlink that is the same as my actual RC transmitter! 😎
I am impressed with this unit! Time to purchase.
This is an excellent presentation, answering all the questions I had in mind...particularly about laptop requirements to run the programme. Thank you.
When will you incorporate more jets?
Mac compatibility?
That's what I was wondering. I have a Mac computer that Is about 5 years old.
Please see the 43:30 and 45:25 marks for more info on Mac compatibility.
HorizonHobbyProducts thanks! Will you ever offer native mac compatibility? There’s a huge number of Mac users out there ready to buy this should it become Mac compatible. Boot camp is not worth the pain and is far too difficult for most.
If boot camp sounds too hard just get vmware or virtualbox... totally fool proof.
Is the t28 trojan in your plans to add
Question - if I would buy the package with the controller, and use the ‘code’ on the box to install it on my laptop, can I also then install it on my desktop as well, or do I have to purchase another software version and do a separate install?
Yes! You can load/use it on multiple machines at the same time using the same serial number/code.
HorizonHobbyProducts Thank you for your reply! Great news! Thank you for allowing us to do that! Now to convince Santa to get it - :)
Can you change the set up of each airplane like expo, trims, making it fly the way I do?
I vote for the upgrade at a lower cost. As for now another $100 each year is rough and not really worth the change. However at a lower cost as I'm already a customer and owner of a real flight version would be worth it. :)
They think they're the CoD franchise hahahaha thieving dogs.
Please please add more align helicopters.
do the virtual planes come with virtual plane engine audio ?
I heard something suggesting you can only fly the aircraft in the simulator if you already own it in real life. ( 27:32 )
Is this true and does this mean if I only own one rc plane that's the only one I can fly in the simulator?
I'd like to test how other RC planes fly using the simulator without buying them first
RealFlight 9.5 includes more than 170 aircraft and 40 different flying sites you can use at any time. From the product page ( www.horizonhobby.com/product/realflight-9.5-flight-simulator-with-interlink-controller/RFL1200.html ):
"With more than 170 different aircraft to fly - including airplanes, helicopters, drones and more - at over 40 different flying sites, plus the ability to edit aircraft and sites, there's an almost infinite number of flying options available.
Buy it on Steam O in stall issues, and patches and updates are automatic!
Not much simulator time here in California mostly just flying flying flying!
how do you setup realflight9.5 for helicopter with opentx?????
How many channels are available on the wireless dongle? And is there any documentation / SDK available for the wired controller and the wireless dongle? Would be neat to control robotic platforms or rc hauler trucks using such a wireless dongle connected to a arduino or raspberry pi.
Thanks for the discussion boys, looks great; have my PC laptop from Dell built and ready... waiting on the Sept shipment of RC9 with the DX interlink controller; looking forward to trying my DX8 with the wireless dongle... thanks again.
Does this have a rescue button or can you assign one
while flying helicopter's with the supplied transmitter?
3:38 ... so if I have this right, you
get the convenience of being tethered
to your pc with a cord .. I see. Does 9.5
have this same 'convenience' ? 🤣🥱😕😞
Can you advise best settings to use when projecting to an HD Tv with the HDMI cord. I am getting pixelation of the model making the quality not looking to realistic.

Are you guys working on MAC version for this??? I really hate using boot camp.
Will this work on an Xbox1? I can’t get it to work on my Mac or smart TVs? There’s a usb it’s binded up I can’t figure it out. Thanks
What cable do you guys use?
Can I use a .stl file (Nx cad) and put it to fly in the simulator?
I cant get the spot landing challenge to work. Any suggestions? All the others work fine.
How about an advanced DXe radio editing for RF9? How to setup the bind button as a gun switch, the rate switch, the aux switch for landing gear etc???
Why isn’t this available for Mac?
RealFlight was developed from the ground up for PC/Windows use nearly two decades ago. Unfortunately it would be extremely costly and time consuming to re-develop it for use on Mac. That said, you can purchase a laptop/Chromebook with Windows that will easily run RealFlight for less than $200, or you can purchase and install Windows on a Mac using Boot Camp (which Apple includes on Macs for exactly this reason: support.apple.com/boot-camp ).
Can I use this on the M1 iPad Pro if not can or will you make this possible ???
When using a DX eight generation two and trying to use a Blade 230s in the mode selection only beginner works properly intermediate or advanced does not work properly A fix is needed.
does this have Mini quads also? they meantione VR goggle can I use my Fatsharks? My problem with the SIM is the feeling it doent feel natural Flying with goggles as if I'm standing at the field I think would help a lot. as well if there is mini quads and learning FPV as well.
will realflight 9 work with any other transmitter other than spektrum on futaba, i would like to know .
Thanks
Hi while on multiplayer rf 9.5 flying with my buddy who also has rf 9.5 what causes the airplanes to become transparent on the field?
i bought it today!
Will all the updates be automatic or do you have to some how ask for an update.
What is a good computer or ipad to get in order to use realflight 9?

I fly Mode One. Is this system setup to change Modes??
Thanks.
@@southernexposure123 We did check and unfortunately it is not possible to download RealFlight 7.5...the software for that version can only be loaded/installed from the original DVD as noted here: www.realflight.com/support/kb/article.php?p=RealFlight7&q=16-1036
However, we do offer digital download options for RF8, RF8 HHE and RF9 now for those who do not have a disc drive, lose the original DVDs, etc: www.realflight.com/dlrf8/
In any of these cases you must have the serial number to prove ownership of the simulator/license. Or, you can purchase RealFlight on Steam because then you can download and use it on many devices, even without the serial number, pretty much forever: store.steampowered.com/app/1070820/RealFlight_9/

MrBonger88 especially for planes very accurate. Still need to practice in real life to get the most out of it
I have the DX6 spektrum controller. Besides the software is there anything else I need to purchase?
