      @jvacarpyadventures7045 my wife threw away the nozzles to my sausage gun so I'm currently have to hand roll them which stinks. I fish in the USA so we have to pre bait heavily to get any action typically. So I've been trying to discover new ideas while I wait for the new ones to arrive. Not a fan of hand rolling 5 kilo at a time

    Mushroom trays mate. Ask your supermarket if they have any they're throwing out, I got 5 for free from my workplace because they'd order food and the cafe would put the food orders in them to deliver it to us, so I'd take the tray once everyone got their food lol. They interlock so they're great as drying racks

      Far better steaming mate softer bait to flavours don't wash out with in a hour like most boiled baits

    • @JackTheHatDisabledCarpAngler
      @JackTheHatDisabledCarpAngler Год назад

      Steaming baits is a good thing to do as long as you steam them for a bit longer than you would normally boil baits for of you do boil your baits still like I do add a extra two or three ml of flavourings or if you don't want to do that when there finished boiling and you get Ur baits out to dry just before they fully dry spray and soak your baits with 3-5ml of liquid flavours so as they dry they soak up the extra liquid and take all the juice in when fully dried you can coat them again in A couple ml of flavourings again until Ur happy they are smelling to the strength you want them same with High attract hook baits ;)

    Can you do a video of how to cut the nozzle to the size of the table please

    • @jvacarpyadventures7045
      @jvacarpyadventures7045  Год назад +1

      Sorry dude I'm no expert at boilie making but there ate a couple video on RUclips. Generally I use calipers to measure about 3mm smaller than the table size then make a 1 egg mix to test it. Then trim a little at a time till its right ✅️

    Cool. May of missed it, what’s in your dry base mix? Any idea how much it costs roughly to roll your own, per kg?

    • @jvacarpyadventures7045
      @jvacarpyadventures7045  2 года назад

      Think it works out about £6 a kilo so not necessarily cheap but you got full control of.whats in it. Lots of different stuff in the base mix, here's a few of them LT94 Fishmeal, Fish Solubles, Krill Meal

      In France at the mo, I have my recipes written down at home. This video wasn't about showing people the exact bait I was making more of a how to. There are plenty of good boilie recipes on the Internet. Experiment with flavours, colours and different mixes. Sample mixes are on BAF. Good luck

    what size nozzle for what size boilie?

    • @jvacarpyadventures7045
      @jvacarpyadventures7045  Год назад +1

      Very good question, there is a little pic somewhere showing you BUT it does vary with your mix. My best advice and I'm no expert is cut it 3mm smaller then gradually trim it to your preference. I prefer dumbell shapes to round, so these are 5 or 6mm smaller.

    Just started making my own and it’s not working out in the slightest. Started off with 30% John Baker shellfish, 30% a Robin red groundbait which consists of all natural stuff, some flour and powders to try and get the colour red, paprika, turmeric, some John Baker flavourings added to the eggs, all mixed well. Totally over boiled the first lot of 2 minutes then air dried and they were far too soft to have on a hook.
    Then tried boiling for less time, varied between 30 seconds and 90 seconds, none of which made a difference to hardness.
    Then tried another mix: no fish meal this time, 50/50 semolina and almond flour with beetroot powder and this time used egg whites only, left out the yolks as I read that a boilie hardening ingredient is egg albumen powder which obviously implies egg whites will harden. Still terribly soft after 1 minute boil and air dried in garden.
    Another issue was the colour and flavour washing out massively.
    Htf do boilie companies make theirs so hard and still extremely flavoursome? Surely they must flavour AFTER the boiling process as many I’ve noticed have a glazed look about them that u could never have from a post boiled mix.
    HOW DO BAIT COMPANIES DO IT?

    • @jvacarpyadventures7045
      @jvacarpyadventures7045  Год назад +1

      I'll be honest apart from some pop up mix I bought, I've never had any problems with how the boilies turned out.
      Obviously I Steam them rather than boil them but mine.do still lose a bit of colour once they've been in the water a while.
      There's a couple good bait making groups on Facebook, maybe worth joining one. I've always found them helpful with queries I've had.
