- It's time for another mega comparo. This one is about the mid-sized SUVs; a segment ruled by the Hyundai Creta. Even though it's older than its rivals, it still dominates the segment. We have the Volkswagen Taigun which is one of the best-handling SUVs of the class. The Honda Elevate is the newest kid on the block. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara with its hybrid powertrain is one of the most frugal SUVs, and it has a very well-tuned chassis. The Kia Seltos has been recently updated and it has got the performance, the features, and it looks good too. The Citroen C3 Aircross offers a good amount of space, but the cost-cutting on this French SUV is quite evident. The MG Astor offers a ton of features, but it lacks in a few places. All these SUVs competing for the top spot but which one is the king of the segment? Editor Sirish Chandran and Anand Mohan find out in this mega comparo.

Which one of these SUVs will you put your money on?
Creta
Elevate and c3 aircross
You mean look like suv cars!!!
Completely copied back from Jeep meridian
Real suv at this price I will buy Scorpio classic
I have taken the test drive of C3 Aircross. It's very comfortable in seating and has supreme ride quality.
Honda Elevate ownere here. Drove almost 2500 km so far on highways. Its the best NA engine out there. Suspension setup and comfort is just perfect.
what is the mileage
Glad to hear you are loving it!
what is the mileage on highway and city?
Tell us more.... How was the showroom experience
I agree, it is the best NA engine by far
I am missing the Duster..... the drivability, the ride quality, the suspension setup & the peppy nature of the top end version is very impressive. I definitely want it to come back
@@rohansehrawat6467 Hope Renault takes launching of the duster seriously. It is the only car which will keep them afloat in the Indian car market
Let's hope Renault has plans to bring it back!
Apparently new Duster will come. but 2 years away
mine 10 years still dont want to let go of it, but c3 aircross is got the duster dna but does not have diesel
@@rameinaussie C3 should get more equipment to keep up with the competition. Its has got the fundamentals right and ride & handling like the duster, but it begs more to live up to the market's expectations
C3 Air Cross is the best.... Unnecessary gadgets are only for show offs😂
As a Taigun GT owner, it’s pure joy to listen to Sirish speak about Taigun! Every time he speaks about the taigun, I feel I made the best choice possible out there by buying Taigun GT.
Haha! We wish you many happy miles with it!
you made a great choice!
@@sirishchThanks Sirish. You were one of the guiding force behind the decision😇😍
How much onroad sir and what varient
@@siddharthamishra8952Hi, I bought the Taigun GT manual variant in March, 2022. ~18lakhs onroad.
Taigun GT putting the new Seltos 1.5TGDI to shame is just epic!🔥
Haha! Like Anand said, German horses are stronger than Korean horses!
@@evoIndiaAbsolutely💯
That's why we do these tests. Even we were surprised!
@@sirishchThanks for these exclusive content you guys keep generating time and again🙌
LOL seltos is the heaviest car in the segment by kerb weight and is much bigger in size than taigun gt and is ridding on 18 inch wheels and hence lost but not by a big margin. If you really want to see what Korean horses are check out Verna turbo vs virtus or slavia as they are of similar weight and size🤦

Hi fellow automotive community, whats the word on the reliability of DSG gearbox on the kushaq/ Taigun. No doubt its dream to drive but in the past DSG boxes were known for issues
Too good. Reviews are nice. Looks and features of Astor is cool.
Apne Astor me wrap lagvaya hai kya, Kaafi achhi lg rhi.
Which offers better T.o.D .. or which is a better drivers car - GV 1.5 NA manual smart hybrid or Seltos 1.5 NA manual ?

I test drove the Astor and it was a great experience. The handling and performance were top-notch.
Taigun anytime.
1. Safety
2. Driving pleasure
3. The design
Great choice!

I love the fact that Astor offers so many customization options, you can really make it your own.
Well as a hector owner, i dont trust them on reliability

The safety features in Astor are really reassuring, especially for family use.
You Guys made the excellent video.👍 Missing here Ford & Ford Territory 😢

Elevate is great VFM, no question
Citroen C3 aircross the ultimate powerful engine ( 190 ) torque with great mileage

Its a 1.2L Turbo engine on the C3 Aircross 🔥
Sir which one is the best suspension and comfortable in this segment
C3 aircross. If you are not bothered by features.
Perfection = diesel creta, power=diesel creta, satisfaction in one word is the diesel creta.
Don't know what the hyundai has equipped in it's diesel engine but truly it's a Gem
Haha! No wonder they sell so many of those!
No matter what the other manufacturers say, diesel is still so relevant
I have heard great things about the after-sales service of Astor, which is very important for me.
This mid SUV segment looks so exciting! Among these I liked Astor and Seltos.
What about the base engine options of all these cars which is a better pick??
It doesn't change the fundamentals about the cars. All you lose are some features.

Wow yaar. So many options in the segment. Liked Creta, Astor and Seltos
Among these, I have used Astor and Creta and both are really nice.
I had Taigun GT plus DSG and it’s a fun to drive car
The Taigun definitely is fun!
The technology integration in Astor is very advanced, it feels like a futuristic car.
Also does anyone refer to NA petrol as Nat-As? I honestly am hearing it for the first time and it does sound very weird to me 😅
Just a way of speaking, nothing wrong with it.
@@evoIndia nothing wrong ofcourse. Just felt a bit weird that's all 😅
The interior of Astor is really impressive, especially the digital cockpit.
Finally some review is there which shows proper verdict. Otherwise rest says 'We leave it to you to decide '!!!
And we did the math for the verdict!
These looks nice. I likek the design of mid-size SUVs. It’s good for family cars.
I feel the elevate not suited for people with height 6ft and +, as i find it difficult while ingress egress and also the driverside seat adjustment is somehow limited thats causing this issue as i also tried with steering adjustments. Tried the city, but there was no such issue. Any thoughts on this?
Then definitely u shouldn't by it....if it's not comfortable for u....
If you didn't find it comfortable, so be it. There are others in the segment you can look at.
was asking because i have seen in many videos in which people saying there height as 6ft feeling comfortable. Just want to check am i the only one feeling this issue 😣
@@aravindmnair_my brother is 6.2 and I won't say he was outright comfortable but the sales person did driver seat setup in such way that he was able to sit with better comfort. He moved seat fully back, lower seat height and moved stearing somehow which created space.
@@dipanshu4807 how did he felt when getting in and out?
Can't wait to watch how curv will set the system❤
Uptill then creta/ seltos are seriously dope in this class
We can't wait to see that either.
The boot space in Astor is quite generous, perfect for family trips and luggage.
When comes to styling ❤ the Taigun especially the pineapple colour.
Super ji and thank for your effort 🎉🎉
Thank you so much!
When you complete a trip and you see 21-22km/L on petrol GV , it definitely brings a smile 😃
At 13.5lakh GV is best deal but if you can spend 18lakhs making choice is tough
Can't beat the frugality aspect.
That's exactly why the strong hybrid GV doesn't win this test....
The engine performance of Astor is quite impressive, it has a good amount of power.
Expecting to do the same comparo with C segment Sedans.
We did do a drag battle with those: ruclips.net/video/wytxeQdTZmI/видео.html
The ride quality of Astor is very smooth and comfortable, even on rough roads.
Great content! 24:43 Sirish feels the "Swift" 😃- I got my Swift Zxi due to Sirish's hatchback mega comparo video way back in 2014. Enjoying it every second and hard to let go. But Sirish's choice may prevail again, who knows?
Haha! Glad to hear you loved the video!
The Swift was a game changer back then!
Great Comparo.
Would like to draw your kind attention more than 90+ % of these Cars are used for City Driving. Occasionally or less than 10% use for highways.
All your tests were done on highway driving.
We as most Indians buy Car as extension of our Status & Personality in our Society.
We care more for VFM package with respect to trust & confidence on Brand, Low Cost of Maintenance, Service Stn Network, Ground Clearance, Cabinspace for family, Efficiency & than what's under the hood & technology.
However good Taigun-Kushaq are both looks like a big hatch with high Pricing. Good for highways and performs below expectation in the City especially the 1.0 TSI Engine.
Taigun-Kushaq would be the 6th & 7th choice after Creata-Seltos, Vitara-Hyryder & Elevate. Last would be Astor on the list.
Be patient & wait for Hyundai to offer their Best effort for CREATA to retain it's No.1 spot as King of the 4.3 Mts. Mid-size Segment.
Incase, if Creata scores 5 Star Safety Rating in Crash test like Verna than it would be difficult for others to sell in big nos.
I don't think Taigun deserves the 2nd spot.
It lacks a lot of features
The material quality is straight up bad
It doesn't have the space as its competition
It has a stiff ride (Although I like it)
It just looks like a jacked up Polo and looks like a segment lower
VWs usually have bad resale (personally experienced)
Reliability is still a question mark
Although mechanically it is still very good
Also I feel Seltos should have won it maybe along with Elevate also. You said just 1 shortcoming, stiff ride. It has improved from the outgoing one and another shortcoming maybe crash test (I don't think it is a major concern because of the introduction of ADAS).
All said, there's nothing from these that's so much fun to drive as the Taigun.
@@evoIndia Agreed, it's my favourite too. But emotions shouldn't be a factor in comparisons.😅

@@kostinarain7373 VW is overrated? Really? No Kia or Hyundai is in the top ten world's most valuable brands on the list. But VW is in 4th place.
Companies like Maruti and Hyundai have exploited India's lower middle-class and cost-conscious customers. Hence, they are mass-producing unsafe vehicles consistently in huge numbers. Numbers alone won't define better products. Glossy Looks and plush features are subjective and secondary. If you look at the cars and objectively measure them up, primary factors like safety, drivability, handling, and high-speed stability (no matter how big or small in size) are the essential factors. There's a difference between mass (Hyundai, Kia, Maruti, etc.) and class (VW, Skoda, etc).
VW for Virtus and Taigun has indeed cut corners to stay relevant and competent in a cost-conscious market like India. But still, that doesn't take away your safety, driving pleasure, handling, and stability. That's the difference!
FYI - My first car was a Hyundai i20. The second is a VW Vento. I know the machines in both worlds. VW is a class apart!
Terrano going, C3 aircross coming! Didn't like the ride quality of any other cars, even a segment above.
Took delivery of C3 turbo on Diwali..... ignore the features, gem a car otherwise in terms of engine and suspension
Hey we hope you have a great time with your car!
The warranty package for Astor is quite comprehensive, giving me peace of mind.
I did Delhi to Chandigarh in Astor and it was dam comfortable…lovely car and its 1.3 turbo not 1.5 😀👍
Well, as long as it was the best for you.
You were really enjoying driving the Taigun. VW Taigun all the way for me.

best and honest comparison in recent times
Glad you liked it!
@8:46 😂 "I've taken him. Is he going to take me?!" 😅
Great that you have included c3 aircross
Happy to hear we could help!
I have been researching on mid-size SUVs and Astor seems to be the best option.
The swift diesel had 190 NM of torque, and coupled with around 950kgs of kerb weight, it was a screamer, pulls crazy even at higher gears. I have got mine doing 1.5 lacs+ on the odo, but on a free highway, still brings a grin when I smoke vehicles 2-3 segments above it, while returning 23km/ltr.. Breaks my heart, considering the diesel dilemma. In a pursuit of finding a similar engine.
Oh wow! The Swift diesel is so legendary. Always a hoot.
It was a quite good comparison and yes, the verict was surprising... Still creta on 🔥
It is! Creta fares well in almost all aspects.
Even we were surprised by the verdict!
40:11 seltos does comes with imt aswell right?
Yep, with the nat-asp 1.5 petrol.
@@evoIndia yep and in diesel also. Cos i own one.
There will be a time when people start considering ride quality and handling as features. Then c3 aircross will stand tall against all of them for the money we pay. 🤞
Comparing top models of others costing 20 lakh plus and complaining about missing features in 14 lakh C3.Still it managed to beat some of them
I like c3 design very much
@@sensocaredelhi2292exactly.
The C3 Aircross has a good ride quality, no doubt. Only if Citroen hadn't cut costs so much.
@@evoIndia here the comparison is of a sub 15L car to sub 20L cars. C3A should be compared to its competitors NA 1st or 2nd base varient. Like creta E, kushaq ambition, elevate V.. yes the cost cutting is evident when compared to others top end, but not with even 2nd base.
As a human stereotypes are a given but they do not allow impartial judgements.
It was visible with all the cars and it seemed fine but it was all so visible with the C3 aircross. It feels the company did the disservice by not kitting the car and reviewers here have done it by not highlighting the good points but putting the curtain of lack of kit and 3 cylinder over everything. It has quirks, ex: powerful ac but not climate control, but it is delivering all at a price!
Similar thing happened to c3. It didn't have the features, everyone says, but no one does at the price. It keeps on getting compared to cars much pricier than it. That's kinda good actually.
Would you pick the C3 Aircross over its rivals?
@@evoIndia for 13L rupees and need for a 7 seater yes. And 5 seater is even cheaper. For the price creta doesn't even get Rear camera or climate control or telescopic steering or telematics or LED lights. An unkitted creta seems to be inferior.
The infotainment system in Astor is very user-friendly and intuitive.
Why r u calling it as compact suv video when there is no BOLERO NEO :(
It's a slightly different segment.

Citroen C3 Aircross is always best in this segment.... Rite quality, suspension and etc ..... As a owner I'm happy...❤
Yes. It's sad the ride quality at this price point can be shown in a video.
Great ride quality for sure!
In most reviews one imp bit is the headlight performance which is rarely being discussed; may be you can do one episode on the light throw comparison quality.
Also VW/Skoda has to lift up the game as they are known to give some crazy light tech along with working on plastics and especially improving that boot carpeting which looks really bad to make a better product package.
Thanks for the suggestion! We shall definitely try for that.
Why there no kushaq?
Already owning a Taigun 1.0 tsi ❤

Bhai Honda manual lete to diffence hota ya iska automatic leke
Honda ka CVT kaafi strong hai. Ye humne pehle bhi dekha hai. Par C3 Aircross ka torque kaafi jyada hai Elevate se.
Is it possible that the Tiagun is faster because it is lot lighter than the Seltos? The Honda Elevate seems to be the under dog
Oh wow! Astor mujhe looks me sahi lagi yaar.
Missing the pocket rocket from Nissan Kicks with the powerfull turbocharged 1.3 GDI Turbo petrol. They should relaunch the car with different name and proper updates.
Yeah! It was really fun car.
After watching the review, I sort in my opinion Astor is came out a very good Contender in the segment. It is a really good car.

Citroen C3 Aircross for those bad Indian roads for a comfortable ride
It definitely has a comfy ride.
Great space, great seats, great boot, fantastic engine, good safety....the Elevate is a trademark Honda.....all at good price. So Elevate it id.
it definitely depends on the driver also. German Petrol engines are better than any other. But when it comes to Diesel engine in this particular line up CRDI will lead.
In the end, it all depends on what one likes.

@evoIndia, I would beg to differ on your verdict on MG Astor, I am a proud owner of one and trust me it is one of the most sought after cars in this segment, I recently did a road trip from Kolkata to Delhi and trust me, it was a really comfortable drive and also the ride and handling is really good on most parts. It may not be a perfectionist in one account but as a package it's one damn good car. Still love your content and wish u all the best for all your future videos 📹😊
Hey, as long as it fits your bill perfectly, its the best car for you. Doesn't matter what we say. Like always, test drive and decide.
Thank you for your feedback. In back to back testing the Astor didn't fare very well against the others in terms of handling, steering feel and enthusiasm
