First as a black American woman and for the ones that I know it wasn't good to be average at school either. Secondly, I want people to understand what average actually means. By definition, "average" refers to the central or typical value in a set of data. It represents what is NORMAL and standard among a group of people. Being average literally just means you are part of the majority. Social media gives people this concept that they HAVE to be celebrity adjacent or deified for existing or important but the truth of the matter is a majority (the average) aren't.
Yep. And also, since everyone is striving to be above average at the same time, the average is going to move and the vast majority of people will be in the same place they were before. Trying to be exceptional is a trap to get us working harder and harder for less money by the rich and the powerful. Focusing on doing things your own way and being in community are what's actually good for most people.
It just shows again that people don’t read before they just spewing out words. A lot of people are average then if you put it this way. These so called “ above average “ people are starting to become average because it’s the norm to look like and be like instagram , influencers etc.
I think that we feel like being called average takes away from our individuality. We all have things that are very unique to us and we want to be known. But being “average” does not mean that you aren’t special or that you’re boring. Your value isn’t tied to your achievement or looks.
I've realised recently that because of social media and the same face syndrome being pushed into us, I've started to find average people waaay more interesting and attractive. Each individual has their own charm and becomes more memorable to me somehow Edit : also irl is different from social media. You'll be 10x more attractive in real life than in the microcosm of TikTok
When I heard the news that Francesca Amewudah-Rivers will not be in the Romeo and Juliet play anymore I was so sad she deserved sm better and her coworkers did not even defend her...
She’s not in the play anymore?!? Wowww! Tbh once I started reading all the backlash she was getting I had to stop reading it because the comments were soooo disrespectful! I cant believe that none of her coworkers came to her defence too, I thought they released a statement but I could b wrong
The Francesca situation really made me sad, because she resembles me and other black girls who surf the internet, so to see so many people just being disrespectful about her looks, it just really made me feel some kind of way. I understand we're not going to look good to everyone and thats ok, but at the end of the day, its like as a society we can't tolerate anything else unless it looks perfect when it comes to looks. Just the fact she had the position to be Juliet and from what I understood she had really good acting skills, thats a beautiful thing. Seeing so many people of my race say she shouldn't represent us also made me think on a deeper issue too, who should represent us and why should someone represent us. At the end of the day, we have varying looks to us so how could there be one look. Francesca is living her dream how she wants by being in theater and I hope to do the same with my own dreams.
The whole situation was SOOOO DISHEARTENING I wanted to make a full video about it but just thinking about it was really draining🥲was worse is the fact that it was other black people who were loudest when it came to criticizing her looks! I had to mute any posts pertaining to the whole situation because it was sooooo disrespectful. If someone is ugly to you keep it to yourself smh!
@@NkirukasWrldyet it was other Black men criticizing this sweet girls appearance. Majority of them were colorist, featurist, and texturist when it comes to Francesca..
Honestly I blame the whole 'average looking' epidemic on social media. Seeing pretty girls with similar traits -eg. small noses, hourglass figures, flat stomachs etc - has made a lot of people feel like that's how everyone looks these days and that you can only ever be pretty if you have these ultra specific features because we are constantly bombarded by these videos and pictures due to beauty favouring algorithms on apps like TikTok. I see so many girls calling themselves average because they don't look like the girls on Instagram however if you really rounded up a bunch of randomly picked girls from the street, you'd see that 'average' is not so average at all and that these girls on social media are a TINY percentage of the worlds population. Social media really knows how to get to your insecurities so please don't let it!
The Francesca situation was weird seeing people think it's a hollywood conspiracy that they only hire "ugly women"; but will also call out influencers for unrealistic beauty standards. And it's ironic cause Tom Holland is no looker but is marketed as one.
lmao right? he still looks like the child i saw on the impossible, I even questioned what zendaya saw in him but hey I love them together so I can't complain
This, i mean i agree that francesca is not conventionally attractive but i dont think Tom Holland is one either, so I don't know why she's the only one getting that kind of hate. Sometime i feel like when it comes to women, the standard is just on the heavens when men being at least standard is enough. ( I feel like this many time when i see Hollywood movie or even kdrama )
@@Anafuji7553facts, because they don't want women to be intelligent or opinionated. They just want them to be pretty. That's why their standards are so shallow and depend mainly on looks, whereas women value more important qualities in men, like hardworking, talented, kind hearted, gentle, good with kids. Looks do have a role, but not to the extend that men hold women to
There is more to living then being average or not being average. I am 22, turning 23 years old and I dont have a career nor do I have a drivers license and I live with my parents. I do have things going on, trying to figure out personal things and not focusing on how "useless" my life is. Because it isnt. I have achieved things that I am proud of, I love drawing, playing Video games, I love my dog and my family. They support me. I've already traveled to some places and who cares? Just let people be people. I hate what social media does and the "influencers" do by presenting the perfection of their lives. There is no perfection. Its all pretentious.
@@charlene4419OHHH MY GOD. I watched this motivational video by one of those people on RUclips that think cursing and talking loud will get you motivated. She said one thing that stuck With me, “the lazy people will be forgotten.” Or some bs. First of all, why do our lives have to resolve around go getting non stop? What happens when you reach that goal and have nothing else? Strive for another hard goal?? That seems exhausting. Sometimes i want to exist without proving i deserve to feel special to myself by either starting a businesses, or whatever society deems to be “commendable.” Some of those self help channels are part of the problem, because for some reason it’s wrong to be average
Dont boo me, but i feel like being average is great. Having ur little routine and being diligent in your everyday life. Extraordinary is good and that but we're not all gonna stand out and that's fine❤
I chased external validation. I bought into the "stand out" mentality, prioritizing what society deemed prestigious over what truly mattered to me. This led me to a demanding career that, frankly, I dislike. But hey, at least I learned a valuable lesson! Now, I'm prioritizing what truly matters - a life with less stress and room for the things I cherish, like starting a family. An average, quiet life sounds pretty good to me.
@@ML-ni1tkcongrats! I only learned this lesson in my 30s, and somehow I'm glad I finally learned it. My average life is soo peaceful and filled with genuine connections and friendships.
When I see kids graduating younger than me I just feel so horrible about myself. Especially being Nigerian because my parents have great jobs and I'm the oldest child with ADD/ADHD and it just sucks because I'm just average in my class. I don't get high honor roll I only get honor roll and I get A's and B's. I just want to be above average in my classes so I just keep studying but my ADD/ADHD makes it hard
No matter what, you've achieved something. Everyone has, and I'm so sorry you feel like you're not doing enough. We see the perfect parts of these people's lives, but we never see the struggles that everyone has. You're doing amazing and you've gone so far @Starbbz. I hope you live the happy life that you deserve
I know there is a lot of pressure to achieve, but I promise you are doing great. I cant imagine how hard it is to keep focused with ADD/ADHD, and I’m really proud of you for doing your best. Your worth is not tied to your grades or how much you accomplish. And honestly your grades are helpful for college but won’t mean much beyond education. Your character is what will matter more. Personal success is the greatest act of rebellion, so exceed in being you! Sending hugs!
same....i feellike i have adhd too, its so hard trying to focus to study. and with my african parents telling me to get good grades, it just makes it harder 😢
I like to remind myself that God chooses average people to do his work. A lot of people in the Bible were just average citizens doing their best to get by, and God used them for His glory and those individuals had purpose in their lives.
For me my biggest gripe in life is that I don’t have one single marketable quality. Not good at art, not some revolutionary genius and create things, not pretty and slim enough to profit off my looks, can’t sing or dance outside of just amusing myself, not interested in writing or acting. The only thing I’ve liked in my life was baking and decorating cakes but don’t love it enough to monetize it. The reason I don’t like how average I am is that it is standing in the way of genuine financial freedom. It literally affects my earning potential in life. I’m studying a fairly lucrative course and hopefully I can navigate a career path that will at least allow me to retire in peace but I won’t lie I’m resentful of just how much easier some people have it to reach a similar goal and even the opportunity freedom to try many various things and risks. Even social media platforms like RUclips reward beauty and other anomalies
I highly recommend finding a business partner who is creative and starting from the ground up with them. Figure out what skills and resources you can contribute as an equal partner while they create and flesh out most of the ideas. You do NOT have to do this alone.
Chris Rock said it best " I'm a millionaire and my neighbor is a dentist. He's not the top dentist, he isn't the most talented or well known, he's just a dentist, and he's my neighbor. I have to be award winning, legendary comedian Chris Rock to afford this house." His average dentist neighbor is quietly living an above average lifestyle.
One thing I also realized was that, if we didn’t have fast food workers, we wouldn’t have Fast Food. If we didn’t have Walmart workers, we wouldn’t have Walmart. Simple jobs like that makes a difference in our lives. We all work at some point in our lives and our lives are not just attached to the jobs we work as if they bring most or almost all of the meaning to our lives.
For the longest time, especially in my teenage years , I was surrounded by friends and people who always seem to be better than average. If I got a 98 on a test, my friend still got that 100 even if she didn’t study. I tried so hard to be above average. I was in marching band, vocal jazz, ensemble, orchestra, select choir, model Congress, I was in three honors societies. I got to college and I realized I didn’t have to do that, but it’s because I found the thing I like to do. But now that I’m out of college, I’m dealing with this existential fear of is this really my life now?
There is nothing wrong with being average. I personally just don’t want to be average because the type of lifestyle that I’ve always envisioned for myself requires me to go above and beyond, and I’m willing to secure that by any means necessary. especially black of course they’re certain ones that get away with being average especially depending on their skin tone but being black in general compared to other races, we cannot be average so I feel like it was already in the cards for me bust my ass
Agreed. I have a type of life in my head that I want to live out when I’m older. And I don’t think being average is going to cut it. But at the same time going above and beyond is good because it lets people know you know how to work hard for what you want or need.
I think the curse about being average is that you don’t get the « privileges » people who are above average have, and at the same time, the benefits you get from not being below average are not that tangible
In my mind I’m the center of the universe and the most beautiful girl but I know that in reality I’m average af and it somehow gives me lots of comfort
As someone who strived to be perfect early in life, it crushed me mentally and physically. Being above average and beyond is so difficult; losing sleep, social life, and time with other people in order to achieve perfect grades and a perfect-looking resume is not worth it. I learned in college and currently in my masters, turning 23 soon, that it's okay to be average. Whether it's about appearance, career, or achievements, I feel much happier when I don't strive to be the best and just do what is necessary to meet the requirements. I can't say that C's lead to degrees, as my program requires a 3.0 average to graduate, but I can say that B's and A's lead to degrees; we don't need perfect straight As in life. Being there to do the work and not overstressing every step helps; we need to take it one step at a time.
i didnt know that ppl get a lot of compliments on their personality and talents. the best compliment i get is “you look pretty” “you look nice” and stuff. idk maybe because im shy and i dont talk to much ppl
as a black women who’s perceived as pretty (by others) I’ve found that the level of pretty i am is different in different places. I’m def not Miami or Las Vegas pretty but more ATL, DC, Houston pretty. and even then i personally think my type of pretty is just average 😭
@@Alexus347 💀 this might sound weird but i usually look at the bottle girls in the area to see what the standard “pretty” is in that area as someone who partied in Vegas a lot i never saw a women who looked like me working at the big name clubs. 'Princess treatment' or 'queen treatment' would also be a really interesting video concept. I always see these 'princess treatment' videos where the man always does everything for her like open doors, pays for her food, carries her, buys her extravagant gifts,... and the girl, almost every time appears 'child-like'. A video concept that always stuck out to me was the men putting on the women's stockings, but the men are all dressed in dark coloured clothes, while the women sit there as they put on them these colourful stockings, giving you that 'strong' man and 'tiny' girl type of vibe that always rubbed me the wrong way. I just think that TikTok has really fantasized the concept of 'princess treatment', making it appear way more out of proportion, where in reality, it is just a really nice gesture to show somebody you love them and that it's not a lifestyle. Also great video bae!!
I agree!!! I saw 2 videos like this where the man gives his wife/gf this “toy wheel” and He’s driving the car and the girl is trying to mimic him, and As much as I like couples being cute to each other. THAT IS SO WEIRD TO ME😭😭😭😭😭😭, like are you trying to act childish???? One of the videos I watched the Caption was literally “He’s teaching me how to drive but I’m baby🎀🥺” I’m being serious rn LIKE HELLO ITS SO WEIRD😭😭😭😭😭
@@Azura59 I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT THAT! I don't believe they act like that off camera (at least I don't think so) but it really messes with your expectations, cuz girl that ain't 'princess treatment', that's 'baby treatment' 😭.
@@sugar_zBread I Love princess treatment, It's something I want for myself. But there's a limit to it, I wouldn't mind my man picking me up spoiling me and stuff that's fine, BUT THE DRIVING THING? SAYING HOW TINY YOU ARE COMPARED TO HIM USING THE WORDS "daddy" HELLO😭😭😭😭
I mean I consider myself ugly because my guy friends called me ugly so I never tried standing out but I always had people approached me about my eyes and being “sad” but also my friends said they thought I was mean. Most people notice my eyes. I had some notice my chest others my legs (or my shape) but personally everyone makes me uncomfortable no matter if I like em or not people just make me uncomfortable in general. But I am at 1K on tiktok not because im pretty but because of my art so Im pretty proud of that but im pretty okay with being average or below average
It sounds like to me you think you’re ugly but I don’t believe that is the case. People around you have made you think your ugly and your not🙏🏾 I’m sure your art is beautiful and keep honing in on what makes you happy and feel good🙏🏾
I can relate as an African. My dad is never comfortable with average results he always want's us to become the best in class especially when it comes to our academics and that has Caused serious problems between the two of us.

i agree with the logic of finding people attractive intimidating! and then i go "maybe ppl dont approach me bc they find me so attractive they're nervous to come up to me!" ☠️which isnt true lmao
Being average is looked down upon in these groups everyone looks to, but ultimately, after all, living an average life is ACTUALLY the fucking best. Ever. ❤
Nah coz how I really wanted to be this big CEO when I was like 11 and didn't know any better. Coz the the CEO in the movies and media were the boss, really rich but u never saw them working😭. Take ur Christian Gray: this hotshot billionaire who u never see him work. His job was just being Anastasia boyfriend 😂.
@ville__if you wanna get people watching your stuff you should try being positive instead of negative. Getting interaction on this comment isn't doing what you think it's doing. No one is gonna go and watch your stuff just because you came here to be messy. Like I can't even be bothered to click through and check your claims because it's just playing into your hands and it's also more effort than you're worth lol.
Pound for pound CEOs really aren't working that hard or that smart. That doesn't mean it's an easy job, but I think most people massively overestimate how "smart and hard working" you have to be to be a CEO. We don't live in a meritocracy. Your parent's income, social capital, and what degree you studied are often more important in determining whether someone becomes a CEO than their actual IQ or work ethic.
Same! I chased external validation. I bought into the "stand out" mentality, prioritizing what society deemed prestigious over what truly mattered to me. I’m 32 and average but that’s subjective because there’s always someone with a worser life then you ether worser job or in bad health. I have a traditional mind and always thought you needed a college degree to be anything significant but with social media and the right personality looks and luck there’s potential to make millions. I’m envious and bitter about that but understand it. In my mind you are extraordinarily talented your videos are high quality and your blessed with model looks. For a lot of people they can work hard and never break thru or just reach a plateau. Just try your best with the resources you have available even if it’s not as much as others. Also try not to compare yourself to others they might be outwardly successful but they actually might be mentally depressed or even secretly evil. Like celebrities that commit suicide or do drugs or worse things.
I agree with most of the video. My only pushback would be you only have but so much time to be above average situations. Outside of looks, and upbringing, realistically, I would say most people are average in many things. I would also say i'm only above average in skills invested enough time into. As soon as i'm put outside my element, i'm average or even below average. It's like my brother who was all book smart with straight A's and would be arrogant about it at the dinner table, but when he tried sports, he struggled compared to me. He was placed outside his element and his average ways showed.I find it really unbelievable that people will be above average in every aspect of their life.
You're absolutely right about being average. And being above average looks different for everyone. I think for me it's being average but also being above average in certain parts of my life. Also, being okay with not doing the most for everything. It makes life mucb simpler, and I've been able to love what i see in the mirror each day. 💙💜
Honestly, I think it's more fulfilling to work towards your dreams, goals, desires and genuine wants, rather than falling into what other people deem ✌🏽 "successful"✌🏽 or worthy of recognition and appreciation. Like idk about y'all...👀😂 but I think it would be more fulfilling to embrace the journey towards something that would actually make you feel authentic, enthusiastic, grateful, inspired and tranquil, for multiple years, rather than doing something that is equally hard, but only gives you a taste of gratification, recognition or appreciation (or ego boost). Not only that, if it makes you genuinely happy, provides or fulfills an internal want or need & helps you on your soul mission that should be the definition of success, because we all are unique & have a reason to be, period. ✨️ I aspire to have a life where I can not only afford necessities without too much struggle, splurge occasionally & receive things through abundance, while focusing on the things I actually want & already have, but have unbreakable meaningful connections internally & with others. 😂❤ That, sounds like success to me. 😗✌🏽
When you are average, it is only okay if you are chilled with that and not wishing for much; if you want great things, then you can’t just act like what average people do, that’s for sure. For a while I’ve been bombarded with contents like “It’s okay to be average”, which got me into thinking that “geezz don’t worry, it’s normal to do this ‘cause people do it too”. I kinda slackened up and feel satisfied with the “average” things that I do everyday. But gradually I realized this is not what I want. Feeling alright with being average is actually just an excuse for my laziness and demotivation. I want to reach for the greatness! If you want the things other people don’t have, then you have to what others won’t. How could I be like everyone else while wishing that I would be the best? Anyways I am back in my track and nothing can stop me now :)) I hope that everyone could find the joy in what they’re doing - whether they want to strive for ‘perfection’, or live a peaceful and simple life. As long as you are happy, it’s all okayyyyy ❤
Average is bad. Don't be average You can't help how you look, but you can help almost everything else If you were born into unfortunate circumstances, you may not be able to change it now but you don't have to rush it. Take it one step at a time just don't settle
Ohh teaaa that’s a good one i somehwhat talked about that in a previous video but i focused mostly on our weird obsession w serial killers beyond their looks but i did mention their looks too!
I’ve recently noticed just how low my pride in myself/my accomplishments are, because they’re not insanely above and beyond or the best ever in the whole world. I’m leaving my job to go to graduate school this fall, and whenever I tell someone at work why I’m leaving, they get excited and congratulate me on getting into grad school. To me, this isn’t even an accomplishment - it’s just whatever. When people tell me I’m beautiful or men approach me/hit on me, I just think that I’m not beautiful enough. I think part of this issue is that I just have low self-esteem (which I’m working on!!), so even my biggest accomplishments don’t mean much to me. For example, I did an honors thesis in undergrad, and instead of being proud of my research, I just thought that it should’ve been better. I’m planning on applying to PhD soon, and I wonder if I’ll even feel proud if I get into a program. My top choice school is very hard to get into (and I have realistic expectations, I know it’s a reach lol), and I think I’ll be proud if I get in there. But if I only get into the “lower tier” schools, I don’t know if I’ll even see it as an accomplishment. I think that instead of pride, I may just feel relief that I got in somewhere…because if I don’t get in anywhere, I know I’ll feel absolutely horrible. This was a great video that made me think a lot…keep up the awesome work!!
You know what’s crazy??? I used to be 234 lbs and NO GUY would look at me, not even my male “friends” at the time. But now that I’m 175 lbs (my waist is smaller, my hips and butt are more sculpted bc of hourglass genetics, and my chest is a bit smaller), I get treated like I’m some sort of princess. Especially since less girls would compliment me and more guys would try and talk to me. It sucks how people put pretty privilege on a pedestal……but lowkey I’m not complaining.
@@feliznavidad6958 No???? I'm just saying that despite the sudden positive attention I receive, witnessing how shallow humans can be is a very confusing reveal. I wanted to lose weight because I was obese and very unhealthy, not to get catcalled by a gross p0rn addict.
@@afrofaeries Your description mentioned an uptick in attention and validation from men which you attributed as pretty privilege. So again, male validation is a privilege?
Omg for real… people are fabricating sooo many things in their head and wasting so much time on them when you can do something that can bring you joy instead :/
Personally I think that a lot of people finding you to stand out or be attractive comes from having a collection of very unique features that make you fascinating. Like I myself have really narrow lips, freckles, a curved nose and big bug green eyes but I get compliments, even though Tik tok pretty is big lips button nose and almond eyes. And I also definitely find other people who don’t fit society standards to be pretty because I find their faces fascinating, like the medieval painting rather than “iPhone face” trend
As someone who's above average(in attraction) you get mixed experiences by both genders and it depends on the person and how they view you. These are real life examples I've experienced If you interact with someone smart they'll see you as stupid and expect you to make a mistake and forever remind you on that tiny mistake you've made because it's likely their way of saying "see at least you're flawed and I'm smarter than you" NEVER ever lift yourself up even if you're joking, ppl will take that as you being arrogant and would make it their mission to humble you(I've noticed this more commonly with guys* boys) Once you show skin you're viewed as a sex object BUT if you maintain modesty you're viewed as a prude unless you state your excuse Certain types of girls(mainly the baddies) would likely not wanna be frnds with you cuz you're seen as competition and treat you like they don't see you.(As if I'm begging for your attention miss ma'am😂)
Today I learned that I’m average and below average when it comes to my looks. I had a glow up about 10 years ago and yeah I got more attention. That glow up ended when the pandemic started. I don’t want to be seen anymore But I make a difference in the world every single day and I am fulfilled and never question my purpose in this life.
Why are we not talking about the fact that capitalism is the reason behind a lot of this feeling around being ‘average’ as a bad thing? ‘Look better to earn more money, work harder to earn more money, be better educated to earn more money.’ etc. What if we were just ‘being’ human, surely ‘average’ would be a new positive construct.
19:17 THIS! this is one reason why the guys who I wasn’t attracted to showed interest in me growing up. it’s so much easier to interact with someone when you don’t feel the need to impress/look good
““But as for you, Israel my servant, Jacob my chosen one, descended from Abraham my friend, I have called you back from the ends of the earth, saying, ‘You are my servant.’ For I have chosen you and will not throw you away. I consider myself below average lol but I like it tbh I have social anxiety and I am very introverted so I love that people (especially men no hate to men tho✌🏾) wouldn’t come up to me and try to start a conversation when I was younger ( 16-18) I would try so hard to “fit in” but now about to be 21 I just don’t care 🤷🏾♀️ I enjoy my life the way I want it financially, physically, and emotionally so long story short it’s not that bad being below average/ ugly at least for me ✌🏾

That is what I like about being gen X: we didn't have this insane competition, we didn't have internet social media, we didn't care what other people do and how they live unless we knew and cared about them. It's just... when I was the age of today's gen Z, I had no freaking idea what's average, how other people live or what they do or whatever. It was just... live in the moment, who cares! It has to be tough to be young today.
I’d like to classify myself as an above average looking woman in real life. I get alot of compliments in real life but I’m not TikTok pretty . I won’t go viral for my looks but I don’t think that makes average or mid. I’ll still draw every eye in the room
You can only be successful at something specific. Otherwise you're average in most things in your life. These pretty girls are average intelligence. These rich tech Ceo's have average bodies. We are all average for the most part. To be successful, you have to be average in everything else. It's normal
Bill Burr hit the nail on the head with this issue: “I’m a bald, out of shape, redheaded man! Don’t you think that there’s gonna be a glass ceiling in what types of roles I’m going to get? I’m never going to be a lead in a romantic movie, even if I’m making it! I still need my money back, right? That’s why I write jokes! Don’t force something that’s never going to work on you!”
When a 20 something yr old struggle to make a phone call, I blame the parents. When I hit 16 (which in the UK you’re no longer a minor), my mum told me “no” and to start making my own appointments
I think looking average is society and trend based so it changes. I think everyone has something about them that makes them more than average......they just need to wait long enough for it to be trendy again. E.g. big round eyes vs fox eyes, long lean legs vs bbl, thick 2010s brows vs thin 90s brows. Also, whos considered attractive can sometimes be determined by what everyone else seems to think. But this affects younger/impressionable people more
Honestly, I prefer "average" people. They have faces I can actually remember, because there's (ironically) always sth significant and special about them. All the conventionally pretty people are blurring into one face for me and I have difficulty keeping celebrities apart. I prefer watching old tv shows, where they had somewhat more diverse and realistic actors (in case of facial features; not necessarily in all dimensions of the word "diverse), because then I can actually follow the plot, as I don't keep mixing up the characters😂
If everyone was exceptional then no one would be exceptional. Like imagine if Elves were real🧝♀️ . Every Elf would be exceptionally beautiful to us but in Elf society everyone is average. It would be so boring. I’m exceptionally average in most areas but average people keep the world running 😅.
How old were you when you started RUclips? Did your schooling take 7 years to complete? 4 years bachelor and 3 in law school. So, would you be 25 this year?
I think the major criticism of Romeo and Juliet was the race-swapping, and I agree Francesca didn't quite match the description of Juliet as a character but the people who shamed her for it and berated her looks need a reality check. She's an actress, it's her livelihood to take roles she gets. None of this was her fault, more the production team trying to create "diversity". I do wish that more stories are created, in place of simply race-swapping, about different unique cultures, like princess and the frog. It's to this day, one of my favourites. I feel like that would be true inclusivity instead of haphazardly race-swapping because you want to show you're woke and cater to that sector of your audience. Give me more culturally enriched stories of people embracing their culture instead of this. Francesca's absolutely beautiful and just because she didn't fit the envisioned image of Juliet does not mean she deserved a shred of the hatred she got. I hope to see her more often in newer works.
Respectfully speaking, the "diversity" argument does not hold up when it comes to Shakespearean works and those that do bring this up are completely ignorant about this matter. Shakespeare's works have been adapted in multiple ways with people of many ethnicities in various theatrical productions for various types of audiences because of how Shakespeare's works resonate with people. Not to mention certain changes do happen theatre-wise like with the ability to switch the ethnicities of the characters. The people crying about accuracy clearly have some sort of racism and hatred against Francesca. Because if they actually cared about accuracy, they would have had the same uproar about all the other adaptations of Romeo and Julliet, in particular the one adapted for children where Romeo and Juliet are gnomes. They would have had an issue Tom Holland who isn't Italian . They would have demanded that boys are the ones to play the female roles. And they probably would have asked for it to be performed in theaters similar to the orginal Globe Theatre. Whatever nonsense they are doing is just malicious and ignorance based.
i get your point but in theatre “race swapping” is a very common practice, unless it’s a performance about a specific culture then they’ll just hire the best singer without taking race into account
I’m a dark skin bw but I have the featurism(small button nose, and curly looser textured hair) that some other black people have praised me for. Throughout my whole life mainly my childhood I’ve had people immediately assume or think that I had to be mixed with something cause they found me attractive. Even my own immediate family members would joke around wishing they had my nose or something…
Well Justine Skye is really pretty but she’s been around for a few years and hasn’t gotten that big. But look at Tyla, it’s been 5mins and she’s a superstar
I'd love to just be average if I'm happy. I don't care about achieving great things and being radical, I just want to live a happy a positive life and leave the world a little better than it was.
I think the most toxic thing about our society is focusing on looks over everything. There is more to life than beauty and it fades. Having a family, a love, a fulfilling career, are so much more important. I don’t need any other man but my own to find me beautiful. He loves me for me no matter if my looks change or not. I don’t need to make millions, I only need to make enough to feed my family and pay my mortgage.

I’d say if absolutely ugly was 0 and divine beauty was 100 where average is 50 I’d naturally be around 65. But knowing my features and choosing style/makeup to fit them takes me to 70-80 real fast ;) looking good requires effort
Tbh Idk if I'm average or no cos I don't go outside that much but regardless I always strive to not be avaerage I feel like it's the only thing that pushes me forward and helps me to work harder day by day , I always wanted to glow up but I'll stop midway now that I have this fear of being average I have been consistent with my self care and self love for 2-3 months , I just try my best to not overthink it to the point where it's gonna destroy me , like yes I'm working hard but I'm happy with any results and I'm okey with the process and how much it takes
It literally is TERRIBLE to not be able to be extraordinary. Not just in looks, i cant run because of my knees and being born with spine issues. It makes you feel sad.
Nothing wrong with being Average its a BLESSING 🎉 Besides tbh *A LOT* of these “beautiful & famous” girls *ARE AVERAGE* !! THEY ARE JUST GOOD AT MAKEUP!!!!
Well to be fair first world problems are still problems and it’s hard to understand feeling average or below average if you’ve never went through it personally! It’s hard to explain, but yes this ain’t the biggest problem in the world but def a problem for quite a lot of peeps out there
In my country being a lawyer is the most mid. There's a recurring joke about lawyers here. All of them are driving Uber. I know every country has their own customs. What happened in my country is that any little no name college have a law program. They are graduating more lawyers than the job market need since 2000.
I believe I’m average but I’m starting to think otherwise. I work in service so I interact with people a lot, and I’m getting a lot of people who tell me I look nice/pretty. It always catches me off guard as I’m not looking for compliments and I’m just here to work. I’m not trying to brag, just an observation.
this used to worry me alot but then i realized drum roll please... it doesn't matter. we're all just living and trying to make it why make it harder? also if you believe in God and or have a relationship with him then you should know that everyone is the same in his eyes from the highest of achievers to the people with nothing to their name, it doesn't matter to him so why should it matter to anyone else? not trying to make this into a religion thing but i thought it would be nice to point out for anyone else who believes. don't compare yourself to others, you'll save yourself from alot of hurt just do your own thing 🙏🙏
2:33 This one got my attention because, as a 16 year old, I do the same thing. Some days I think I look so hot and then other days I’m just like… well alrighty then. I don’t have any self hatred or disgust for myself at all but I’ll see these beautiful women on Pinterest or almost any other platform and sure, they may look like me but they don’t LOOK LIKE ME. You know? I don’t have an insanely low body fat percentage or the smallest waist or a BBL look alike butt. I don’t even wear makeup. I‘ll even see these girls at school and compare myself to them and it’s like.. how? What are they doing that I’m not? But then I just tell myself, “If you can’t change anything in 10-20 seconds then don’t worry about it.” And move on with my day.
Anyone with 100k followers is already over average given that RUclips has promoted and recommended your channel- millions of people upload videos without any recognition or view counts. Just know you’re a lot more ahead than you think. A lot of people will never know what it means to have over 100k subs or let alone that money in the bank.
We as humans have gotten further from our original ideals and as a result, the younger generation is obsessed with vanity, self pleasure, and trying to find fulfillment in things that don't matter and are fleeting. If you want to find true fulfillment in this life, follow Jesus. Pray to God through Jesus, read the Bible, join a loving church, and give your whole life to him. Repent of the sin in your life. He can provide more fulfillment than anything else in this world ever could. Much love 💕
Trying to use Francesca as "average" against Justin skye in the thumbnail is a bad take to me. Both ladies are beautiful dark skin blk women that have accomplished things that makes both not average. To me the thumbnail reinforces featurism, (a imagery that whitness is the standard) and does not convey the message of living average. Why not use two socially economic classes to represent the discrepancy?
If being average was like, working 20 hours a week, having enough money to live a decent life, a meaningful and enjoyable job, with a great social life and hobbies on the side, not being in crippling debts, not going bankrupt at the slightest medical emergency ect, then yeah, being average would be fine.

^100%
Well said!
You’re spot on! Average is normal yet somewhere along the road we have equated average to bad when it’s not
@@NkirukasWrldI have a random question about you actually what’s your real name?
I think that we feel like being called average takes away from our individuality. We all have things that are very unique to us and we want to be known. But being “average” does not mean that you aren’t special or that you’re boring. Your value isn’t tied to your achievement or looks.
I've realised recently that because of social media and the same face syndrome being pushed into us, I've started to find average people waaay more interesting and attractive. Each individual has their own charm and becomes more memorable to me somehow
Edit : also irl is different from social media.
She’s still in the play. That was just her understudy
Wdym? lol Her co-workers should not do anything or they would also lose their jobs.
Theyre not losing their damn job for defending her against hate @ultimatefinalgirl
@ultimatefinalgirl oh I'm pretty sure they will not lose their job
@@NkirukasWrld I 100 % agree!!!
@@NkirukasWrldyet it was other Black men criticizing this sweet girls appearance. Majority of them were colorist, featurist, and texturist when it comes to Francesca..
@@mariamart_0 let's be honest, it was white men mainly who were criticizing her
@NkirukasWrld nobody is talking about how tom Holland is below average in looks but everybody wanted to call out the black girl🤷🏿♀️
With me, “the lazy people will be forgotten.” Or some bs. First of all, why do our lives have to resolve around go getting non stop?
What happens when you reach that goal and have nothing else? Strive for another hard goal?? That seems exhausting. Sometimes i want to exist without proving i deserve to feel special to myself by either starting a businesses, or whatever society deems to be “commendable.”
Some of those self help channels are part of the problem, because for some reason it’s wrong to be average

What course are you studying?

If your friend is saying she didn't study and got 100 she lied to you. Don't always believe what people say.
What are benefits of being below avrage lol

'Princess treatment' or 'queen treatment' would also be a really interesting video concept.

That, sounds like success to me. 😗✌🏽
Such a beautiful comment! Thank you 😊
I love this comment. I 100% agree with you! 💛
A lot of “recognition” is fake or overblown. What you see on tv and on social media isn’t always what it seems.
Anyways I am back in my track and nothing can stop me now :))
I hope that everyone could find the joy in what they’re doing - whether they want to strive for ‘perfection’, or live a peaceful and simple life. As long as you are happy, it’s all okayyyyy ❤
Average is bad. Don't be average
You can't help how you look, but you can help almost everything else
If you were born into unfortunate circumstances, you may not be able to change it now but you don't have to rush it. Take it one step at a time just don't settle
i feel like knowing how to market that relatability factor has definitely helped a lot of entertainers; especially comedians
heyyy plz make a video about the glorification of serial killers in the media because of their looks
On a related subject that dude that got famous for his mugshot and even became a model after jail.
Ohh teaaa that’s a good one i somehwhat talked about that in a previous video but i focused mostly on our weird obsession w serial killers beyond their looks but i did mention their looks too!
@NkirukasWrld what's the name of the video if you remember?

Ngl im 250 and I've never stopped getting male attention lol but i live in the south of us so fat/curvy girls are more common
So male validation is a privilege?
@@feliznavidad6958 No???? I'm just saying that despite the sudden positive attention I receive, witnessing how shallow humans can be is a very confusing reveal. I wanted to lose weight because I was obese and very unhealthy, not to get catcalled by a gross p0rn addict.
@@afrofaeries Your description mentioned an uptick in attention and validation from men which you attributed as pretty privilege. So again, male validation is a privilege?
@@afrofaeries i think it's cause of the last line " but low key i'm not complaining" I did wonder the same
Omg for real… people are fabricating sooo many things in their head and wasting so much time on them when you can do something that can bring you joy instead :/
I’m average ngl 😢I’m legit not really good at much 😂
Hey don't no one is perfect
Don't even put yourself down like that. Everyone is an idiot in something. We all have our strengths and weaknesses.
I love you both, thank you haha. 🥰💜
I’m sorry for being melodramatic today
Girl, I been binging your content, but I just realized I'm crushing on you and it's uncalled for. Do your thing, much love and respect.
As a south Asian i felt this. Being average is MY CRIME 😢
As someone who's above average(in attraction) you get mixed experiences by both genders and it depends on the person and how they view you.
These are real life examples I've experienced
If you interact with someone smart they'll see you as stupid and expect you to make a mistake and forever remind you on that tiny mistake you've made because it's likely their way of saying "see at least you're flawed and I'm smarter than you"
NEVER ever lift yourself up even if you're joking, ppl will take that as you being arrogant and would make it their mission to humble you(I've noticed this more commonly with guys* boys)
Once you show skin you're viewed as a sex object BUT if you maintain modesty you're viewed as a prude unless you state your excuse
Certain types of girls(mainly the baddies) would likely not wanna be frnds with you cuz you're seen as competition and treat you like they don't see you.(As if I'm begging for your attention miss ma'am😂)
Today I learned that I’m average and below average when it comes to my looks. I had a glow up about 10 years ago and yeah I got more attention. That glow up ended when the pandemic started. I don’t want to be seen anymore
But I make a difference in the world every single day and I am fulfilled and never question my purpose in this life.
19:17 THIS! this is one reason why the guys who I wasn’t attracted to showed interest in me growing up. it’s so much easier to interact with someone when you don’t feel the need to impress/look good
I am average, but my acne, terrible teeth, and weight may drop that bar lower. 😮😂😢😂
““But as for you, Israel my servant, Jacob my chosen one, descended from Abraham my friend, I have called you back from the ends of the earth, saying, ‘You are my servant.’ For I have chosen you and will not throw you away. Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
Isaiah 41:8-10 NLT
I live in the UK- London specifically and the avetage income here they say is around 44k a year but this is before tax. You'd be lucky to get half that after tax really
Tax is a whole scam!!!!!😩
Mid has certainly lost it's meaning online. Now it just means "I don't like this" or "I'm here to be a contrarian"
I consider myself below average lol but I like it tbh I have social anxiety and I am very introverted so I love that people (especially men no hate to men tho✌🏾) wouldn’t come up to me and try to start a conversation when I was younger ( 16-18) I would try so hard to “fit in” but now about to be 21 I just don’t care 🤷🏾♀️ I enjoy my life the way I want it financially, physically, and emotionally so long story short it’s not that bad being below average/ ugly at least for me ✌🏾
100% facts
Especially with the Nigerian parents. My grades never showcased my creativity, but I know I have achievements in my bones.
Just finished architecture school, now learning blender, let’s see what happens. Good luck out there.
As a fellow Nigerian I agree with everything,. If ur like :everyone else got less than me. Them: then y didn't u get full marks? R u d same

the singing was just slay. watch out taylor u got some competition!
I don’t understand when average became a bad thing
Same
That is what I like about being gen X: we didn't have this insane competition, we didn't have internet social media, we didn't care what other people do and how they live unless we knew and cared about them.
You should always strive to be the best version of your average self ❤❤❤
So, would you be 25 this year?
looking on point as always sis!! the skin is glowing 😚😚😚
Most people are average. That's life.. shrugs..
2 videos in 10 days 🎉🎉we getting fed🎉🎉
I’m doing my best😂😂
I'd love to just be average if I'm happy. I don't care about achieving great things and being radical, I just want to live a happy a positive life and leave the world a little better than it was.
I think the most toxic thing about our society is focusing on looks over everything.
There is more to life than beauty and it fades.
Having a family, a love, a fulfilling career, are so much more important.
I don’t need any other man but my own to find me beautiful.
He loves me for me no matter if my looks change or not.
I don’t need to make millions, I only need to make enough to feed my family and pay my mortgage.
Small tip: The typing noice when introducing a new chapter/title is hindering the ability to hear you clearly in those few seconds. Maybe lowering the volume of the typing noice or removing it will help :) I love your videos! Very informative and you have a pleasant voice to listen to
Average is normal. Everyone wants to be an anomaly.
Happy belated birthday NK!!
It literally is TERRIBLE to not be able to be extraordinary. Not just in looks, i cant run because of my knees and being born with spine issues. It makes you feel sad.
Nothing wrong with being Average its a BLESSING 🎉
Besides tbh *A LOT* of these “beautiful & famous” girls *ARE AVERAGE* !! THEY ARE JUST GOOD AT MAKEUP!!!!
As a Latina I can't help but think that this is such a first world problem lmao
❤
What you said about Nigerians is so true!!!!!
RUclips really slid in here like, "This is 100% meant for you."
I greatly appreciate this video!!
If everybody looks above average it becomes normal
ummm more on the law school thing please!!! do u have any videos about ur law school experience and stuff????
If being average was like, working 20 hours a week, having enough money to live a decent life, a meaningful and enjoyable job, with a great social life and hobbies on the side, not being in crippling debts, not going bankrupt at the slightest medical emergency ect, then yeah, being average would be fine.
