I actually did Alfornada Gym as my third gym which was absolutely ridiculous but I enjoyed coming up with a strategy to win even though my Pokémon were way under leveled. I had to use a 45 level disobedient Pokémon to cheese a little bit but I made it work and it was very satisfying.
I didn't know about the pokedex rewards until I accidentally pressed the X button. I was so shocked because it was well after 100 entries and I just got so many rewards.
Also, if you talk to nurse Joy at the Pokemon centers, you have the option of asking her "i don't know where to go next", and she will put on the map the recommended place you should go next. This means that the game will guide you so you go in order with the gyms, and the Titans. It also helps with the overwhelming nature of too many places to go to from its open world nature.
I find this funny. For literally decades people have been asking for an open world Pokemon game. And the moment they get it, people claim "Do things in order" its just amusing to me.
Nurse joy will actually do 1 of 2 things if you ask her 1 she will point you to the nearest objective or 2 (if the nearest objective is beaten already) she will recommend the objective closest to the level of the strongest mon in your party. For example when I asked for directions at the pokecenter closest to team stars fire base before Mella was beaten she pointed me there even though I was drastically under leveled then when I asked again at a much higher level after I had beaten mella she directed me to grusha's gym even though I only had 3 badges this was because I had grinded up to about level 47 at the time and grusha's pokemon are at 48.
For your gym leaders issue, it would have been worth mentioning/suggesting that if you take them out of order you can always change your pokemon to match the level of the gym leader to try out new pokemon and have fun with a lot of different pokemon! This way you can still have challenging gyms if you've beaten higher level ones!
That’s a great idea, except I always plan my teams before I start a play through to end up with a good team for the end game but I only use mons that will be in my team for the entire game, meaning for much of the game I have less mons than normal. I couldn’t do that if I had to swap out party members for a gym. That’s why I had to look up the “order”.
I was just exploring and tried to do my first gym without knowing that Grusha was the strongest Gym leader. Had a hard time but managed to beat him. I was looking for a stronger leader until I learned that he's the strongest. XD
Lol. I'm in the same boat. I have (just got my 4th badge last night) I already have a level 52 terra Jolteon and 55 terra Dragonite) saw the 54 Dratini as I fell off the side and surfing around the island trying to find a way back on without flying. Lol. Jolteon helped me take out the steel titan too. Even though he didn't listen for shit.
Honestly, the gym problem with player being over level and under level can be solve if the game can match your current pokemon level when battling gym in random order. And Yes, that pink smash smash pokemon along with weird alien looking Pokemon Glimmora, is my favourite for this new gen, so much fun using them on my team!
One of the things I did early on was go right to the edge of somewhere I’m wanting to go but couldn’t get to, focus on a Pokémon and then throw your Pokémon to initiate a battle. It then transports you over to where the pokemon is. Sadly, the worst glitch my partner experienced was a deletion of his entire game file, and he had to start over.
@@nathanmarshall745 if it happens again we will definitely try that, it’s been smooth since he started over. I think he left the game running continuously for too long.
Thank you for the tips. I’ve been trying to figure things out. Btw, this game is not as bad as what people are making it. It’s far from perfect, but it’s not unplayable. I haven’t had any major issues.

I just got scarlet yesterday. Working on completing my 3rd gym. I don't care about the graphics or frame rates. It's fun and I'm having a blast playing it.
Speaking of Tinkaton, I saw someone point out something hilarious. Scarlet's dex entry claims that Corviknight aren't used as ubers in Paldea because of their natural predators attacking them in flight. Tinkaton's entry claims that it likes smacking rocks in the air to shoot down Corviknight. No steels are safe from the metal working doll thing.
For those who wont play it in order, just change pokemon often, i raised a whole box going through the game. The whole challenge in any order was probably even to encourage people to try different pokemon
Oops! I didn't know the Bug Gym was first. I went with the Grass Gym first and then jumped to the Electric Gym. Lol! Iono was actually kind of challenging! But it felt good defeating her!
I have 60+ hours my Pokédex is complete and I have a few shiny Pokémon. My honest review is the games mid, I’ve been playing since fire red and leaf green and it is a very fun game and a step in the right direction. Once they work out the performance issues it’ll be a really great game but other then the performance issues they could do better on the Pokémon next time around I did like a a lot of them but a few felt like they were first draft Pokémon that just got the pass when I know they had better designs. I’ve been so focused on breeding a shiny Fuecoco that I’ve done practically nothing in Scarlet so far (except getting pretty good at making jam sandwiches) I’m thinking of fighting the first gym leader first, then taking on the titans to free up the world (I used to be a master at breaking the map with Wyrdeer in PLA, but I’m not sure about doing the same with Koraidon.)
Just 1 helpful criticism is that it's not a guaranteed 1000LP for clicking on the crystals for raids. The amount of points vary on the level of the raid battle the crystal presents. The minimum is 500LP for the level 1 raids. But other info is spot on my guy 👍 good video and helpful
The one thing I didn’t like about playing this game is that I felt like I had to do the gyms ASAP because of how high level my Pokémon were getting and how high level some of the wild ones were. I wish that the badge level limits would be higher instead of just bumping you up a measly 5 levels each time.
The good thing about that is this game goes off of the level you met/catch the Pokémon, not their current level! I didn’t realize it at first but they did the same thing with PLA as well. So you can overlevel your team as much as you want as long as they were under your level cap when you first got them 😊
@@MeganW17938 I just learned that. But the thing is say you have not gotten the first gym badge yet and catch a lvl 21. When you get the first badge it gives you 25 if you raise that 21 up to 26 I think it disobeys you but not sure. I got a Tera Scyther which was lvl 22 on the way to the first gym (Feucoco baby!) and was dreading trying to use it after.
The thing that I figured out is this: You can have no gym badges and still be able to handle pokemon that are above the listening threshold. But there's a catch. Say you have only one gym badge. Yet you have a pokemon that's say level forty that listens to you. It will listen to you but only if you've caught it previously. When it was say Level 5 and raised it to level forty. Learned that lesson while getting my Anihilape. I was wondering why my level 35 Primape was still listening to my commands but my level 29 freshly caught Varoom wasn't. Also I would recommend you complete the gyms and the titan routes side by side. Bc the more titans you beat the easier it is to explore and reach those destinations. For instance after beating the False Dragon I recently gained access to the snowy mountains and the second to last Star Boss on my list. But get the climbing and the swimming abilities first
The bright side to skipping lower level trainers initially, is if you go back and train low level Pokémon, battling those trainers will help with that.
Thanks for the advice about combatting the memory leak. I didn't even realise that was causing some of the performance problems. Hopefully, Game Freak will fix this memory leak eventually.
tinkaton is def my new fav pokémon! i found them accidentally and put them on my team and have never regretted it! like you were saying they come in clutch all the time.
I disagree with the reverse jump and the gym order, I caught so many pokemon, I reached each gym in whatever order and then decided what pokemon to use based on the level of the are/gym itself, so it always felt good; basically I did what the gym leaders would be doing "Let's see what is your level... then I will battle you with these pokemon that aren't busted"
As I fought the Gym leaders, I don't think there's a necessary order, but it looked like there are tiers of the gym leaders. Btw, another reason why players should beat Gym leaders from the weaker to stronger, is because if you go to the stronger areas without gym badges, catching wild pokémon is a headache not because they are harder to catch but they won't obey you in battle.
Which is irritating because if I caught it I should be able to command it. If anything the fact I caught it while being so under leveled should have the pokemon obey purely because it's impressed
From what I hear basically everyone agrees the game is great, if only it wasn’t for the performance issues. All we can hope is Nintendo see this as an issue and starts giving their consoles a little more power to compete with the other big consoles
The switch isn't the issue. Others games like Xenoblade Chronicles 3 proves this. This is on Game freak and Nintendo for allowing this. Some of these issues were in sword and shield, like autosaving corrupting your save.
Combine 1 with 8: you can backjump the mountain at the start of the game, near the character house, and keep climbing until you found some ruins, all pokemon there are about lv10 and right there you can find the tinkatin, the small hammer, so early game that feels like cheating
I did the Titans early and then just got 8 gym badges. Next I'll be grinding exp, another thing that is broken is the ride Pokémon with all its abilities, nothing stops your travels
Even if it performed flawlessly, I wouldn't say it's anywhere close to a masterpiece, unless we're just talking in terms of other Pokemon games. In that case, yes, I'd agree it'd be a masterpiece by Pokemon standards
I discovered the battle pass thingy I think a little before defeating the last gym, at this point I hadn't been everywhere but in the areas I had been in, I caught every new pokemon I saw. I had SO many rewards
Lol I saved the last 3 gyms to do in order but I was still 30 levels above them and ended up sweeping anyway. There’s just so much that distracted me from the gyms that I ended up overleveled
I recommend everyone buy mint from the chansey shop. Mint changes your Pokémon’s nature to exactly what you want so you don’t have to nature hunt anymore. Also spend money on held items from the delibird present shop.
I think there is two more things to know. 1. Weather teams may be hard to use. All gyms are out in the open. So at any given time during a gym, trainer or Pokemon battle weather can kick in. So say you're doing a trainer battle and it's raining and you want to set up sunny day. This move will fail. 2. Some Pokemon that are not rock, ground and steel types are immune to sandstorm. As long as they have a ability that benefits being in the sandstorm. Note that these Pokemon do not get the special defense buff like rock, ground and steel types.
I beaten two titans one Star base two gyms and face a map crashing my game and my Pokémon appear from behind along with my character and floating Pokémon ball when initiating battle and I got a Ceruledge Quaxly evolution the third one animation oh boy that Pokémon got the moves
It took me awhile to actually get into the game because of its performance issues but once I got to a certain point of the game it started to become so much more enjoyable! I am addicted now. I really like the changes they've made to make this pokemon game new and exciting. I know the performance issues do hinder the game but the game itself is so much fun
Instead of going for trainers, I just do tera raids to get XP candy and feed it to my pokemon. You blast through them when you group up online. Easy Xp
Wow. I completely beat all three storylines & am now doubling back to the terra raids and gyms to finish the Pokédex… did not know about the battle pass 🤦♂️ Thank you!!
I mean some of the glitches presented might get patched such as the backwards cliff glitch will be fixed. But it's just my two cents. Perfromance will also get fixed as well. Among many other issues.
How are you so sure about that? Gamefreak isn’t a big dev company and they’re probably working on other projects as well There might be a few minor fixes but i doubt they’re going to get all the major issues
@@Tyreker i mean they never intended for players to "sequence" break like that and cut the play time for one. It's good for speedrunning yeah, but not for the main game at all. I know gamefreak is a bit miffed about it. Again, I don't work for gamefreak and some of the minor issues like backwards cliff jumping will be patched and pokemon falling out of bounds, etc etc will get fixed in due time.
I don't want to have a Legendary just to get around... or a Special Ride Pokemon... I want to be able to use my own Pokemon that could do that, without being Penalized by it taking up a Move Spot... just make it so that once your Trainer learns how to make their Pokemon do the Move, all their Pokemon will be able to... if they are Physically Able to do so... that would be awesome, lol. And say you could randomly come across a burning house, and you can use your Water Type Pokemon to help put out the Fire... stuff like that...
I was stuck catching every pokemon I'd like to use on a team. Leveled far too much for the story lmao. Then I realized there were nature mints smfh. Nature hunting for quite a few hrs. Got some serious mons tho so well worth it.
I feel like I’m the only one who doesn’t complain about frame rates etc I’m happy playing og Pokémon where the Pokémon just wiggle a bit and share the same sprites so anything better than that is good enough for me, for better game quality I use my ps5 and even ps5 games aren’t perfect
Yeah but the 2d games weren't having sprites pop in and out and glitch having you see through the ground. I even have a video of florgatos model duplicating during it's evolution
I bought it then but w the reviews I didn’t play it until recently and it’s awesome. Yes it can look a lot better but we can’t compare it to the Zelda’s that are complete perfection. That said, they could’ve polished it a lot more.
# 3 is the 'game is fun?'- That's an opinion, and While I agree, that's probably something someone would think of before they bought the game. You made a list of preferences; At least the video is titled correctly because this is definitly a list YOU should have know before YOU played, but not everyone plays like you. Most of things you are saying are told at the school (even if you weren't paying attention), you've given a few hacks that don't need to be known (some might say, ruin the experience), and ONE helpful tip "Save and restart often".
It so weird even now I haven't encountered any issues or performance problems on my launch switch I don't get it 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ Also fantastic video with no spoilers much appreciated
I pre ordered a pro controller . after you mentioned the Game Frame . that will be stopping by really soon !! Now ive been hearing that people are taking back their game & asking for a refund if they own Pokemon Scarlet /violet
Get Nacl or whatever and then kill the 3 titans for traversal. That's what I did. Didn't even need to do that backwards jump. Didn't do the final 2 titans until after I was champion.
because this game is open world and you can go everywhere the only thing i would like to change story wise is the strength of gym leaders, once youve defeated the leage you go back and fight the gyms a 2nd time with them being abit stronger, personally i think all the gyms shouldve been that strong from the get go, allow us players to get destroyed by gymleaders if we arent prepared for them kinda thing instead of us exploring and vsing level 20 pokemon with our level 60+ pokemon... its so easy to leavel up with auto battling in this game that leveling is not a problem at all not to mention the exp candies that are in abundance, i was just exploring the world before i did any objectives and ended up with a lvl 100 cereledge before i even attemped a single gym or star battle, theres to much exp gain in the game for how weak every trainer/ gym leader/ league member is in the game.
Something I discovered when I started playing the Violet copy I got is that right after that cave you travel through with Miraidon, if you go back down the path you'll find a Houndour just behind this tree. Something I didn't do in Scarlett. So I'm wondering if I'm the only one that discovered that or is it some rare spawn.
The pokedex rewards are actually mentioned in the game though. Sometime around your first battle with whatserface. And trainer battle exp is garbage, let's go mode makes far more, far faster.
no need to beat the roaming trianers, you get easy at lvl 90 with the exp guide chansy. and a point of "wish i knew before" do the gym leaders in order is a bit bs, thats no tip thats your preference. I beat them komplete out of order and it was the most fun
"Worst performing 1st party Nintendo game... *since the N64"* 😅 There have been worse performing games published by Nintendo, but it was when 3D was new & the hardware wasn't quite there yet
I wish the game would give you a suggested level for each quest. Doing them out of order is great until you come across a gym or titan 20 levels higher than you
If and when you get that 400 Pokemon caught reward I think there is a teaser item you receive for an expansion pokemon type to come in an expansion that may or may not be planned all we can do is wait and see 🙈🙉
its such a shame that beneath the game breaking crashes/glitches/lag/terrible performance/ugly graphics, is a game that HAD the potential to be amazing whats worse is people defending the game as being great despite the aforementioned list of issues. a game cannot be great if you cant even play it because it keeps crashing. its like saying a burger is amazing minus the meat being raw
the whole out of order gym thing. i did them randomly and tbh overpowered for some or not it didnt bother me XD. as im sure many it doesn't. id say instead of calling it a problem or issue you should have phrased it as a just as viable thing to show understanding that alot of people dont care if they are over leveled.
I definitely should spend more...but it's a big thing for me in a lot of games, I tend to horde money until I have more than I know what to do with. So I tell myself, I'm at like 36,000 dollars, and be like "okay don't spend more than 6,000 so we don't fall below 30", or if I really need to spend more than that I'll be like "okay don't fall below 25".

I did the Titans early and then just got 8 gym badges. Next I'll be grinding exp, another thing that is broken is the ride Pokémon with all its abilities, nothing stops your travels
They go in an order that you can do a gym, a star mission and a titan then repeat, so it breaks it up and still makes it feel less linear.
the one obvious thing the game DOES tell you though is that it's unfinished. it still needs some patchwork. then it will be close to a masterpiece.

I had SO many rewards
you didn't want to feel overpowerd but you were happy to find the overpowerd pokemon 🤔
You Heard That Too ? 🤣
Didnt know about the battle pass. Now i got so many rewards after discovering this. Thanks man
Thanks for talking about the Battle Pass! Haven't seen anything about that yet.
Tinkaton is definitely one boss mon, so OP
75% Base Physical Attack ?
I beaten two titans one Star base two gyms and face
a map crashing my game and my Pokémon appear
from behind along with my character and floating
Pokémon ball when initiating battle and I got a Ceruledge
Quaxly evolution the third one animation oh boy that
Pokémon got the moves
Im playing my second ay through and i can say im glad i played early so i can play a more strategical way this time
one thing I learned myself was the back hop and my god it made the game so much more fun
It took me awhile to actually get into the game because of its performance issues but once I got to a certain point of the game it started to become so much more enjoyable! I am addicted now. I really like the changes they've made to make this pokemon game new and exciting. I know the performance issues do hinder the game but the game itself is so much fun
The pokedex tip! A hidden gem
I found a dragonite in a secret spot lol the pokedex does not even say a habitat
I like it that Pokemon is teaching people to go up to people
Instead of going for trainers, I just do tera raids to get XP candy and feed it to my pokemon. You blast through them when you group up online. Easy Xp
Didn't Sword and Shield have memory leak issues too? Does turning off auto-save help with this game as well?
True, But I kind of wand to restart. Its a bit overwhelming but I'm enjoying it
I restarted today and it feels much better now
Tinkaton is my favorite new pokemon. She so strong n tanky
Gamefreak isn’t a big dev company and they’re probably working on other projects as well
There might be a few minor fixes but i doubt they’re going to get all the major issues
@@EnigmaFighter12 what exactly do you mean by “sequence break”?
Any lack of difficulty or exp is mitigated by the fact that there 400 pokemon to switch between
I've already beaten the Elite 4 and I didn't know about that battle pass...
I feel like "challenge every trainer you see" has to be an essential rule for every nuzlock in this game.
I was stuck catching every pokemon I'd like to use on a team. Leveled far too much for the story lmao. Then I realized there were nature mints smfh. Nature hunting for quite a few hrs. Got some serious mons tho so well worth it.
I knew Tinkaton was OP, as soon as i saw that cute Pink gummy thing i caught it and added it to my team, it really is good to have it
I feel like I’m the only one who doesn’t complain about frame rates etc I’m happy playing og Pokémon where the Pokémon just wiggle a bit and share the same sprites so anything better than that is good enough for me, for better game quality I use my ps5 and even ps5 games aren’t perfect
That said, they could’ve polished it a lot more.
watching this with a party of level 50's but im only half way through each story line. good video, thank you
Wow I didn’t know about the Pokédex bonuses, I did the 4th gym before the 2nd and 3rd gyms 😅
Me Jacq does mention the battle pass in school bro! Great vid tho
# 3 is the 'game is fun?'- That's an opinion, and While I agree, that's probably something someone would think of before they bought the game. You made a list of preferences;
At least the video is titled correctly because this is definitly a list YOU should have know before YOU played, but not everyone plays like you.
Most of things you are saying are told at the school (even if you weren't paying attention), you've given a few hacks that don't need to be known (some might say, ruin the experience), and ONE helpful tip "Save and restart often".
also get the mystery gift as it is Pikachu
It so weird even now I haven't encountered any issues or performance problems on my launch switch I don't get it 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Also fantastic video with no spoilers much appreciated
I pre ordered a pro controller . after you mentioned the Game Frame . that will be stopping by really soon !! Now ive been hearing that people are taking back their game & asking for a refund if they own Pokemon Scarlet /violet
Way to jump the gun a bit
Don’t take what this guy says as fact, dude’s been capping for this game since it came out
@@Tyreker Yeah this dude is constantly underrepresenting the games issues lol
Tinkaton🙌🔥 Gigaton Hammer, Facade, Play Rough, Knock Off
Tinkaton is the fuckin MVP! I loved her so much I spent 16 hours shiny hunting one.
Nah you can even go back into the cave the same way as the cutscene shows and they spawn inside the same path.
Also Wiglett is on the beach right next to where you start
This may be random but i love the way ditto spawns in this game
The pokedex rewards are actually mentioned in the game though. Sometime around your first battle with whatserface. And trainer battle exp is garbage, let's go mode makes far more, far faster.
no need to beat the roaming trianers, you get easy at lvl 90 with the exp guide chansy.
and a point of "wish i knew before" do the gym leaders in order is a bit bs, thats no tip thats your preference. I beat them komplete out of order and it was the most fun
"Worst performing 1st party Nintendo game... *since the N64"* 😅
There have been worse performing games published by Nintendo, but it was when 3D was new & the hardware wasn't quite there yet
I wish the game would give you a suggested level for each quest. Doing them out of order is great until you come across a gym or titan 20 levels higher than you
I’m at least three hours in and I haven’t even gone to the school yet….
If and when you get that 400 Pokemon caught reward I think there is a teaser item you receive for an expansion pokemon type to come in an expansion that may or may not be planned all we can do is wait and see 🙈🙉
My tip is. Dont remove the glowing stakes hahaha it really messed me up when I was hunting the stakes late game
I cant wait for the performance stuff to get a bit better and ill be there. i just have to play docked.
I started the gyms out with 2, 4, 8. Almost every other one was a cake walk except maybe 6 and 7
its such a shame that beneath the game breaking crashes/glitches/lag/terrible performance/ugly graphics, is a game that HAD the potential to be amazing
whats worse is people defending the game as being great despite the aforementioned list of issues. a game cannot be great if you cant even play it because it keeps crashing. its like saying a burger is amazing minus the meat being raw
Thanks, ima go pick it up today.
there is a order to gyms?? i was wondering why the world didnt scale with you
I'm so glad I did the gyms in order because it would have been so boring to battle low level enemies later in the game
the whole out of order gym thing. i did them randomly and tbh overpowered for some or not it didnt bother me XD. as im sure many it doesn't. id say instead of calling it a problem or issue you should have phrased it as a just as viable thing to show understanding that alot of people dont care if they are over leveled.
I found some dope spots to level grind and tackled them before doing anything. My starter was in the 40-50 range by the time of the third gym.
Doesn’t that make the game less fun?
I noticed that any trainer i havnt battled would have a golden border around their words. If u already beat them they dont speak at all
I definitely should spend more...but it's a big thing for me in a lot of games, I tend to horde money until I have more than I know what to do with. So I tell myself, I'm at like 36,000 dollars, and be like "okay don't spend more than 6,000 so we don't fall below 30", or if I really need to spend more than that I'll be like "okay don't fall below 25".
