Diaphragm was used like a hat on a baby! I’m using that! Wonderful video! I’m a breathing coach and pregnancy/postpartum corrective exercise specialist and I think your breathing under a brace explanation is on point. Thank you!
I keep telling my doctor something is wrong. I asked her to please just look in there. I can breath normal while laying down. When I stand up, my stomach don't work for breathing. It's like, it's so much pressure that there is no room for stomach expansion. I have to engage or such in my stomach muscles all day everyday in order to chest breath. Been like this sense the day after birthing my son. Idk what to do. If I put a belt on my very lower abdomen, I can breath while standing. It's like the belt is holding my insides in place so I have run for stomach expansion while breathing correctly. While laying down I am able to breath right, just not while standing. My body is broken😩😩😭😭
I'm sorry you're dealing with this Kaniece. I'd definitely go get a second opinion or search for "pelvic floor rehab specialist" in your area and reach out to them. It sounds like something that would be best to have assessed in person. You can also get started by looking up a book called "diastasic Recti" by a woman named Katy Bowman.
sorry, but every single Diastasis Recti youtube video I find is presented by a young, healthy person who doesn't have the condition. Just once I'd like to see an older person like myself who has a very obvious case, and then go through the exercises with them. I don't have any faith in health and exercise advice coming from someone in their twenties who has yet to suffer the indignities of aging
Valid thought. Like any profession, we learn by reviewing case studies, reading books, learning from the group of people you mention in your comment, and relay that information to an audience who hopefully learns something new. However, nothing beats experience. My response to people who struggle to find the perfect rehab through self research has always been to invest in yourself and a go to professional. Nothing beats face to face conversation and the rehab is invariably super complex and the only way to find true resolution is to find someone who can be with you along that journey. With that said, look up some of Katy Bowman's books on the subject. She fits into the category you were describing.
Hi it's been 7 years of my delivery, recently I came to know about DR and did workout and now it's less than 1 finger gap near belly button. Since I did more crunches and plankes I have abdominal dooming. Please help me how to overcome that?
I look pregnant I have disastrati reciti 3 years now I’m trying to save up to have private surgury I have 5 kids But my last one is 24 But I’ve never healed .
How many times a day and for how many days shld we do this 1st exercise b4 we move on to the next one? I'm 6 months post partum n dont exercise at all. So I'm a beginner.
Excited to hear you’re on the journey to beginning some exercise! It’s impossible for me to give specific advice without in person assessment. However, you don’t have to be fearful of challenging yourself. As long as you’re not experiencing and increasing in discomfort or an increase in the Diastasis Recti appearance, you should be good. 2 times a day of some basic exercise to bring coordination and awareness of breathing. When it comes to strengthening, if you feel uncomfortable with executing certain exercises, nothing beats in person coaching for a better understanding
@@chirostrength Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I purchased a belt a few days ago due to my back pain. Should I wear the belt while doing all the exercises for diastasis recti?
Not sure a few sentences here will help you understand any more than what is described in the video. For longer form video that goes into more detail type in "Breathing is NOT bracing" by Chris Duffin" into your RUclips search and watch that 18 min video. It's a great educational piece.
Of course! Just like any exercise program its all about finding that quality entry point into the exercises. Holding positions you're not ready for or doing to much to soon can have adverse effects, but the concepts of working though these exercises would be the same regardless of how long postpartum you are.
To a certain degree yes. However often the mechanisms behind why someone has DR is different so the rehab may be different. For example a woman who's experiencing this postpartum vs a male who's developed this over decades would likely not expect to take the same road to recover. But in general, these exercises are a good component to either scenario.
best explanation i've heard thus far. thank you
Just found your channel.
Great information.
Thank You

Will it help me after 18 months of postpartum??

Do these apply to men too?

such a great video !!! :)
Stay tuned for the rest of the videos in the series!

I wish I lived near you I would come and have lesson to fix this up
look up Katy Bowman's book "Diastasis Recti" it'll go much more in depth and is a great resource on how to approach resolution of this conservatively.
