  • In this video I give a full in depth tour of the 1995 Buick Skylark V6. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

The Skylark is really cool looking. It's very similar to the Oldsmobile Achieva and the Pontiac Grand Am. I miss the 90s and early 2000s vehicles.

I've always liked the styling of these. Very unique for sure. My friend had one that was previously his grandparents back in the early 2000's when we were in High School. His was silver with a gray interior. The seats were comfy from what I can remember & it was pretty fast, especially compared to my then 1995 Ford Escort LX Wagon which was downright underpowered.

I love the design of these cars. I know many people think they are ugly, but I have a lot of love for uniquely designed cars. As well as a lot of respect for companies willing to take the risk to be different. These cars, the Nissan Juke (not the Cube, the Cube is to weird even for me) the Smart Fortwo (which I have a 2010) and even the Pontiac Aztek are all cars I enjoy to look at and have a lot or respect for. Even if some of them ultimately failed.

I remember starting off in 95 at GM and driving these N bodies. Skylark GS but a couple of fun one's we had were an Achieva coupe 5 speed with the HO quad 4 and Grand AM GT 5 speed, HO Quad 4 5 speed. Most dealers these were hard to find but being test vehicles built specifically for GM engineering rarities were around. I never liked the appearance of the 4 door Achieva's or Skylark's though. Skylark esp. The dash was goofy as hell and the front looked like a locomotive cow catcher. 4 door Grand Am's were tolerable. Miss those days sometimes though. Don't ya love GM's passive restraint system? Easy fix for GM to get around the government regulation by just attaching it to the door and having it belted, so one could slide in and slide out without unbuckling. But NOBODY kept these things belted. Also I find it more of a danger in a side impact collision if the door opens.

I work as an auto tech for 8 years. I have lost track of how many of those gaskets i have changed. GM made them out of plastic and they always break at the coolant passages most of the time leaking externally, but I have seen a few leak internally that is not pretty sight. The aftermarket is now making them out of metal, and it has solved the issue.

I bought one in almost perfect condition. It had 169k and only needed a new paint job. It was my first car as a high-schooler. It was perfect, drove smoothly, easy to find parts and small so I could park! (that I live in CA) however, exactly a week after I got it, a girl ran into the back of it when it was parked on the street going 55mph. For that bad of a wreck that car held together and was compressed really well. But it's totaled so now I need to find another car :(

I think I saw a Cadillac Allante in the background. You should do a video of that because you don't see many of those around. You barely see any of these Skylarks around anymore, especially with as few miles as this one has. It seems to have been well taken care of.

Sounds good, shows strenght and has that iconic exuberant american way of 80s and 90s in which to be different from Europe was something really important.
Despite not being the best example of an American car, since they're so rare in Europe, they become eye-catchers whenever they come around.

This 95 Skylark is a seriously beautiful old school Buick compact, fender skirts and all, but why on earth did they put the seatbelts on the doors? I'm aware that it was a pretty common practice in the 80s, but this is the newest car I've ever seen with them, and it seems like they could be very dangerous in the event of a crash.. On a side note, I'm in love with the curvy, two tone red and black interior. They sure don't make them like that no more... ):

I once regarded the car's styling as weird, but since then (due to the large number of boring looking, -or its opposite- overaggressive late model designs) I've changed my opinion: I look at it as a practical car with a conservative, but charming look. With the bulletproof 3.1 V6 engine, it is reliable and economical also.
