I met some indirect communicating people and their communication don't make sense or it takes longer time to be cleared what they are saying. Your video is excellent.

I prefer direct communication. It gives a lot of clarity in work and thought processes. Indirect communication sometimes confuses me because I tend to create multiple answers in indirect communication. But I still my level best to understand indirect communication. Will learn with time :)

I think the direct examples were appropriate

I can see that I am both yet more indirect. Thank you for the information. Helps me better evaluate my own communication as well as others.

Indirect boss example 1 would fail with me. I’m not always guaranteed to even notice people walking by me, let alone notice what their face looked like. Family and friends know they have to make sure I know they’re talking to me and not some other person if they speak. And this situation described doesn’t even mention the boss speaking.

Hi nice information, I want to offer that adapt to sufering (toxic boss or work culture) is not wise. 😊

Prime claim to prefer direct but I rarely ever see that. At most I see example 2 where communication is in question form vs. instruction form

I know this is a old content, I wonder how do you come out of being the indirect communicator to a direct communicator often times during the transition period people are still stuck in the old style so becoming a direct communicator makes it look like I am out of character or being bossy

I feel bad for "Nathan". What an overbearing boss lol. While i feel the direct communication examples at the beginning of the video were appropriate coming from a boss, the way "Nathan"'s boss responds to him is too impatient and antagonistic. IMO, there are different ways of communication, but the onus is on the boss or leader to adapt to the way their subordinates communicate. There is a power imbalance present and it can be intimidating for the other party to have to deal with a boss who is visibly losing their temper. Speaking form experience.

Indirect communication feels manipulative with emotions. It leaves the recipient confused. Someone who suffers from cognitive distortive thinking patterns will be prey to this.

    Direct
    Example 1 - Acceptable
    Example 2 - Acceptable
Example 3 - Unacceptable, too long "Why do you think this idea works?"
    Indirect
Example 1 - Unacceptable, glare for what? It's like no respect for privacy. Just tell her, Hey Katie, let's back to work?
Example 2 - Acceptable, very polite way to ask without offending her
Example 3 - Acceptable, but better point out where to save time

There is a difference between being direct versus rude. People in the West confuse the two. You can communicate directly without being rude or impolite. You just need to communicate formally.

Don't talk about "the West". You have no idea how people think and behave in all 50 countries of "the West".
