Seahawks have had a deaf and one handed player
They really believe in players and give them chances to succeed go HAWKS!!!
Heart and talent over circumstances. Go Hawks.
And a 5'10" QB that is leading the league in TD passes on an undefeated team. Even though "he can't see past the linemen"...
didn’t pete carol get a blind kicker at usc??
edit: he was a blind long snapper
Lots of respect for Seattle
“I was deaf since i was 3.. so i didnt listen.” 🔥 i respect that

It’s Kansas City but Seahawks are loud as fuck too
I would see him as a free agent in madden and didnt even know he was deaf
Put him in running back and see if he listens to audibles for attention to detail
@@adriancadillo3081 Loooooool
Same, now I feel bad :(
your profile pic just gave me so much nostalgia.
I always got him, whether is was a trade or signing. He always had like 85 speed at FB.
So your telling me that seahawks had a deaf, a one handed, and a 5'10 qb they really give chances
@Bat was it the one from USC? hes the only one i can think of.
believe it or not he is my cousin
@Bat are y’all talking about the short army guy that did two tours in Afghan?
@Bat Derrick Coleman
They also had that receiver in the one super bowl they played in, he was working at a foot locker I believe the year before that game not even on a roster.
I’m impressed at how well he could talk because he can’t hear his own voice.
He probably had one of those ear devices that replace your cochlea ( the part of your ear that processes and sends the info), it allows them to fully hear when they wear it but a lot people get it after being a toddler, which is your most crucial period for learning language, so the damage is already done. I had girl in class with me that had one of these and she spoke the exact same way.
Yeah me too but I had hearing aids before my learning stage so I can talk, like a non deaf person would.
@Sports Gridiron they just make you be able to hear the real world like regular ears but I don’t know much about the science behind the heading aids
@@lilwelfarecheck3626 into your Coochie? That is GROSS!!!! Omg ewwwwwwww!,!???@11111🤮🤮🤤🤢😶😶🤮🤢🤢😈👿👿🤮😪😪😪😪😪😧😪🤤🤢😱😱😱😱😱😪🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮
There are many causes of deaf conditions, and many folks considered deaf can hear some things. Audiologists perform tests to help diagnose the level of deafness. One can be mildly, moderately, severely or profoundly deaf.
My son is profoundly deaf and hears absolutely nothing unless wearing his cochlear implant processor; and he found Derrick Coleman very inspiring.
Seahawks are like THE team for spotting talent, giving chances and starting careers
Edit: Amazing video! Both informational and inspiring!

Well I mean I'm a raiders fan and they gave him a chance but he didn't stay there

Shaquem Griffin is up there too
man i played against this guy his junior year of hs. we beat him in the semi finals but that dude was a beast on the field. i then went to the marines and the story that wasnt told is why i respect this man so much. he gave up his first class seat to a military member returning from Afghanistan. i wish him the best in his future endeavors he is truly an inspiration to many.
That guy from "The Replacements" is REAL? Finally some good news this year.
Super Bowl aside, its amazing how he can SPEAK so well despite not being able to hear.
Not all deaf people use sign language some of us are oral meaning we can speak
@@bdgctruz5786 That's amazing! I have a hard enough time with language being able to HEAR.
@@SuperSaiyanGuyver it is weird I was deaf since I was born and got hearing aids when I was 2 and I learned to speak English very well and I talk like a non deaf person would, but have I have always wanted to be a professional football player and this showed in my recommendations and is giving me some motivation.
He isn't 100% deaf... He can hear a little ... Otherwise he wouldn't have hearing aids in..
I’m glad he’s doing well. Loved him in Seattle. Always be apart of the 12s 🙌🏽
I got to meet him irl... He's one of the most humble and nicest people you'll never meet

I freaking love Derrick Coleman. I knew he had moved on to far better things than football but when I saw the video I was so hyped that others appreciate him too. When I watched this commercial years ago it hit close to home and I got choked up. Watching it again here, no different. Go Hawks.
Derrick Coleman is my biggest inspiration. I am deaf like him and I am fortunate like him to have hearing aids and he is the person that made me love sports and mostly football, and he opened the world to me.
We don’t realize how lucky we are sometimes.
Respect to this man, as pats fan this makes me grow a bigger respect for the Seahawks.
Him committing a hit n run came outta no where😂
Lmao thought he couldn’t hear not see
"A lot of fans in the nfl to cheer me on, and I can hear them all" that's 🔥
I like the ending he’s doing what he loves while helping people
I like how the seahawks always gets the people with one hand, deaf, and more. the seahawks are pretty nice to draft people like that
Got a good hearted coach...
Such a touching story, go chase chats! Also box chats is the real MVP
Totally agree, Kama G!
That ad hits so hard
Yooooo, i absolutely love this mans story. So happy to see him doing well. I found out about him after reading his book and i never regreted it
This makes me wanna do so much better for my self
I loved Colman all up
Til 2015 when he started causing problems off the field
Exactly. Just a casual hit and run... I was like what?
He’s still got better control over his life than AB
Seattle loves getting players with disabilities.
Derrick Coleman, deaf

YOU ROCK DERRICK COLEMAN!
I remember rooting for him when he first came in! I really admire him for everything he has had to overcome and never gave up. Thank you Mr . Coleman, thank you!
Dude he was soooo good man
Sounds like his dreams are coming true, each and every day.
I wish him the best.
Amazing Story. Awesome feeling knowing your team gave this man a chance and has won a super bowl with us, you can’t take that away from him
Bruh I only know this guy cause he was a fast fullback in madden ;-;
i’m tryna sign 😯
Met him at a meet and greet book signing at fort Lewis and he was such a humble guy. Too bad the incident happened and he didn’t stay with the Seahawks. Mad respect for him though, through thick and thin!
used to play basketball with him allt he time at the gym. great guy
Really great for the deaf community Because it will teach younger deaf kids that they can do anything
I saw his ad in 2015. I completely forgot it even existed until I discovered this guy. He’s deaf but he can actually talk really well.
You cant help but respect the Seahawks for picking up the players with the most doubts, a deaf man, and a man with only one hand. Not many teams would take the same risk they took so good for the Seahawks
Glad he was on my Cardinals for a year! So proud of him!
He is unbelievable how great he is I respect that he didn’t give up amazing 🤩
This was a amazing story.
bless this man
he speaks very very very well for someone whos deaf. You can tell how much practice he's put into that alone and then he joined the nfl go crazy man
Gold bless this man
Bro that ad made me have goosebumps that was fire 🔥 🐐
This story is so Inspirational 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Such an inspiration...
I remember meeting him at my school when he was at the falcons. Lucky to see him🙌🙌🙌🙌
One of the best commercials I’ve ever watched
Best story ever needs a movie inspirational 🏈🏆
*Look at Coleman man, so inspirational*
THIS GUY IS SO AWESOMD
I remember when I once played a deaf player. It touched me as a player. And he started at WR.
Inspirational man
I remember he came over to my school and had a speech for us!!!
I remember this commercial it will forever be great
Man he got thru life and people let him down but now on the green grass with thousands of fans
I remember that ad, it was so motivational
Seahawks... Oh how I use to hate you but now when my Vikings arnt playing you I hope you win. You give a chance to people who wont a deaf player and one without a hand. Amazing
Also didn't even know my Vikings signed him first technically
this guy had such a hard and great story
Not a basketball fan but I know alot of friend who where deaf and dumb. Kudos to you.!
coleman was a beast, i didn’t even know man was deaf, he a legend for that
It’s crazy how it’s always the Seahawks that give players that have a disadvantage against everyone else with this man and Shaquille griffin with one hand
believe it or not he is my cousin
Shaquem not Shaquille
He has done what very few have done Coleman the man that was deaf
The falcons and Seahawks loved this guy I was a Seahawks fan for 3 years before I started living the falcons which I have lived for 7 almost 8 years now and he is my favorite fullback ever
I never knew this about him that’s powerful
I miss Derrick. I'm glad to see he's doing well.
I wrote an essay on him when I was in middle school, it was cool to learn about him.
legend
That deaf and i didnt listen line was sooo good
Derrick was pretty good with the cardinals, the only reason we didn’t keep him is because Kliffs offense didn’t use a fullback that much
Inspirational
wow absolute crazy he is from my city and played for the football team that i have played for
He game to visit my highschool a few times, cool dude
I remember this was the year they won the Super Bowl and I was so exited about it
😅 I’m deaf too and I’m in destrehan and 10 years old, my fav sport is football and this inspires me
i deaf person myself, will always be my favorite player
Rock On Coleman
I was feeling dizzy but that was inspiring
Near my home there is a School for the hearing impaired and they have their own Football League and they dont mess around and talk about quick its unreal. When you sit in the Bleachers you will see Two Large Drums one on each sidelines and on each down they will hit the Drum and the vibration would single the snap it was simply amazing they can feel the vibration way better then we can and the Drums are moved down the sidelines as the game progresses, those players were on another level.
Bonnie Sloan who was deaf, came from our neighborhood in Nashville. He played for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Coleman!!!
Reminds me a lot of my cousin.. He was born deaf but he was a star Safety at his school
As a cardinals fan I hate the Seahawks but putting that aside I have to give them huge props for taking chances on people most teams would never even think about and I respect the shit out of that.
He went through all of this trying to prove himself and he still acted stupid and was in a hit and run.
He didn't hear anything nor listen he just played and played hard dats a player with heart bravery and inspiration
I remember seeing him play for the falcons and I was sad we let him go
I remember his accident. It was on 38th St. in Factoria next to the group health and Honda dealership
Who else from Chattanooga Tennessee
People forget that the first deaf player in the NFL was a DT named Bonnie Sloan.
He played for the St. Louis Cardinals back in 1973.
I meet in a mini training camp. He asked us if we were ready, and when we said yes, he repeatedly said he couldn't hear us... He was a cool dude
Duracell made some great football commercials. The Patrick Willis one and this ones makes my hairs stand up.
My brother is deaf, that is an awesome story
Its crazy cause we have a deaf qb and that dude is great i think he's going to make it
I do remember. Oh you got me with sounds like he loves bird teams. They are people who go Undrafted & become legends.
