    RAV 4 Hybrid real world consumption is 5.5 to 5.8 litres / 100 km.
    CVT and thrashy engine if pushed in RAV4 is a less refined driving experience.
    I drove an X Trail E Force last week and it exceeded my expectations in finish, comfort, responsiveness, ride and serenity... love it.

    Great review which highlights the impressive driving experience.
    My brother recently bought a 2020 RAV 4 non hybrid as a second car and hired a RAV 4 Hybrid. Was not impressed with the driving experience.
    He test drove a Nissan X Trail E Force and had one word for the driving experience... BEAUTIFUL.
    Ordered one immediately from dealer's allocation. Gets it in April.
    I am looking forward to a drive in it.
    It is better value as an impressive 4WD than the QASHQAI E Power, which is now delayed until late 2023, as the QASHQAI is now the top selling car in the UK where it is made.
    I personally would not want an EV or PHEV or a hybrid with a CVT. Don't have facilities to plug in. Current battery technology is not good enough in terms of resources to build, weight and range and charging time.

    @carsguide thank you for the detailed review. Some further questions please.
    1. Do the seats offer any kind of active cooling?
    2. Is the passenger seat mechanical or electrical adjustments?
    3. Can the memory seating be enacted remotely in preparation to driving? I share with my wife but we’re quite different heights.
    4. Sorry was there a wait time mentioned for say a Ti-L top spec? Is it 3-4, 4-6, 6-12?
    Thank You

    • @carsguide
      @carsguide  Год назад +1

      Hello @Hadley Willan, 1. No active cooling. Fronts are heated on the Ti with the outboard rear positions also heated on the Ti-L. 2. Driver and front passenger seat are 10-way power adjustable. 3. No. There’s an ‘Intelligent Key System’ but it’s confined to access to the car and enabling the push-button start. 4. Given the car’s only just hit showrooms, it’s hard to say. Maybe check in with Nissan online or direct with a dealer? Cheers, JC

    It's an interesting concept but the non-Hybrid fuel economy at a premium price point hurts the value proposition. It seems the only reason to buy this over the Rav4 is 1) less wait time 2) it drives like an EV. Given this doesn't qualify for the gov't FBT exemption, if you want a car that drives like an EV it seems to make sense to just buy an EV? 🤷‍♂

    Not sure why Nissan didn't take this opportunity to build a proper plug-in range extender whereby a larger battery would be employed and a smaller ICE would be utilized to only charge up the battery system. This combination has been shown to maximize fuel economy, with test vehicles achieving 2L per 100km. Even if double that it would better Toyota current market leading Rav4. Maybe Mazda will finally bring out it's rotary powered range extender that they've been teasing for years. Stellantis has hinted on a similar product in the near future. If a small company like Obrist Mark II can do it, why can't a large established company like Nissan.

  • @robdenaro4215
    @robdenaro4215 Год назад

    The "hybrid" set up is not good. The car is a petrol car running on premium petrol which is about 20 to 30 cents per litre more than regular 91 petrol. Where are the savings. The battery is too small. When it's drained, the 157kw disappears, and you are left with about 100kw generated by the petrol engine. Poor stuff. Not worth the money. The 2500 petrol car is better value.

      Over 10,000ks a year it works out to be 63 cents a day extra or $4.40 a week. If 63 cents a day is a deciding factor on a car that’s insane. Buy the one a buyer likes the seats and the look of. Too much emphasis is put on fuel economy of cars.
      A mate just bought a Dodge Ram. Towed with a Ford Ranger, Nissan x trail and Hyundai ix35 on the back ( of at the same time of course) and over about 3000ks averaged 16 L/100. Even if you drove that with a Ranger on the back everywhere it only works out to be $5 a day more than the Rav. Or less than the price of a small coffee. Too much emphasis is put on fuel economy of cars.
