One thing about lighter wheels they will be more efficient when city driving. Less mass to rotate and at lower speeds the aerodynamics are not as important! Great video!
My P3D has VS Forged 19" VS08's. You're right, being able to order specific size/width/offsets you want, as well as finishes, mine are powdercoated, is a big advantage for custom wheels. Really strong while still being lightweight is a great combo.Having a color/size/wheel combo not seen on other threes always brings questions from other owners.
I got a set of wheels from Tire Rack for my Model 3 Performance, Forged One FF10 Competition, light weight 21lbs . Good service from Sam at Tire Rack. Look great!
My setup on a long range M3: square setup, 19” by 9.5” wide, +35 offset turbine style wheels (23lb. each), with Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 K120 tires at 255/40/R19 XL front and rear (26lb each). Rear has 5mm spacers. Range decrease is about 7-8% from OEM 18” Aero. Have yet to do performance measures, as tires are still being broken in. I expect to see better cornering, better high speed handling. The increase in rolling resistance and weight from larger wheels should be mostly offset by the increase in width allowing for more traction at launch. Thus, expected 0-60 marginally slower, if not the same.
My stock tires on my MYP are toast at 22,000 miles. I'm also looking to downsize the wheels and get tires with more sidewall to help with the ride on the roads in my town. Plus I understand some tires are quieter than the stock.
My back tires lasted 22,000 miles on my y performance and cost 500/tire. At 39,000 miles I replaced all 😊with Gemini wheels and continental all season tires! Way cheaper to replace, last longer and a little bump in total range (20 miles).
Brian (and other owners). I'm looking into a Long Range AWD Y. I like the 20" wheel upgrade but am curious about ride quality. I'm looking mostly for range and ride comfort, not track runs or racing. While I'd make due with the base 19" wheels in a pinch, I like the upgrade wheels. I know the upgrade on the long range is a 20" wheel with 45 aspect tires (I think). Any comments from owners with 19" base and 20" upgraded wheels about ride quality would be appreciated...
great question. im thinking of buying the model Y as well, and just love the appearance of the upgraded wheels compared to the gemini wheels. But much bigger risk of damage to the wheels since there is thinner sidewall protection.
I have the Model Y with 20". APRIL 2020..... The lowest price for tire replacement ...1.4K so far. It came with Goodyear tires.... and i have the black rims
i1Tesla, could you do a video comparing the Überturbines and the Induction wheels on the performance model Y? My Tesla rep says they do not fit over the performance brakes, but there are several people 'on the internet' saying they do. And then test performance 0-60 as well as range changes? (and weight differences) Would be a great test!
Brian, I noticed you didn't say what size the tires were on the wheels you were talking about. Please provide the tire sizes that are on the wheels that you are showing. Something like: These are 19" wheel with 255x40x19, or 18" wheel with 235x45x18, or 20" wheel with 235x35x18, or 255x40x20, or 21" wheels with 275x35x21 and 255x35x21.
Wheel size! Wheel size! Nice info, but how about wheel size?? How big can we go, how small? I don't know much about tires and I'm paranoid buying tires that doesn't fit my Y and creating damage.
Brian, love your video. I have the performance Y, red, without the performance upgrade. This gets me the 19 inch Gemini wheels. Not as good looking is a fact but not terrible. The delivery site failed to include the covers and I did not realize they were missing when I picked them up. The ride is very smooth and quiet and as I don’t go to a track the car does what I need, and is crazy fast, and quiet and smooth. Just not as pretty. With that said I would love to see a comparison of the Gemini to the performance wheel options. Thoughts on powder coating the stock Gemini? I can get this done in Waco for 95 a wheel. Keep making great videos! Jim
Thoughts on induction vs. Gemini? Are the inductions significantly more likely to have issues with potholes? I think they’re 40 vs the Gemini 45 profile. I think the inductions look great on the white or black paint but worried about pothole damage or curb rash.
Love to see you tow an RV. There are some interesting manufacturers in your neck of the woods. I’m going to buy one in the future but I’d appreciate your expertise

glad you brought up the blades.. so what exactly is the reason for the blades and why arent there right and left side rims ... the blades act like a fan of sorts .... one side is sucking air under the car and the other side is blowing it out ..... shouldn't they both be doing one or the other .... as in ... high-speed autobon driving at 150 mph +.... would it cause handling issues to have air being sucked in on one side and blown out on the other side ... could that cause drift .... or if they were designed to be right and left with both sucking air under the car to provide lift ( it is a heavy car) could that cause a problem at higher speeds .... or.... if they were designed to suck the air out from under the car, sucking it down to the ground and giving extra stability and traction at high speeds ... I have seen wheels like this on several other vehicles and it always makes me wonder about the aerodynamics
Maybe ignorant question but the $5k listed in the Signature website is for a set of 4 wheels and not each? ….I mean, the Model Y isn’t a 250k super car. I do like the fact you can dial in your center bore, diameter, width, offset and even powdercoat.
@i1 Tesla What are your thoughts on ART Replica 267, they look identical to the Performance wheels and they are 19 inch and not 20/21. I believe the range and comfort will not be affected by ART267 and it will give the Model Y performance look.
Brian, curious if you and Kyle would collaborate on a related video for effectively changing the gear ratio of the Tesla by installing smaller overall diameter wheel/tire combo? Using stealth performance model with standard brakes, fitting the smallest wheel that will slide over the caliper along with the smallest profile tire available would alter the Tesla final gear ratio. It would provide for quicker 0-60 at the expense of top speed. Might be an interesting video I haven't seen anyone else cover.
Dunno if you guys gives a damn but if you guys are bored like me atm then you can watch pretty much all the latest series on InstaFlixxer. Been watching with my brother recently :)
Hello Brian, Just got our 2023 Tesla Performance Model Y a couple months ago. We want to change our wheels to something less and to a square setup. Do you like the T-Sportline wheels or the Martian wheels better? What do you think we should ask for the Uber turbine wheels and tires that would be a fair price? 3000 miles approximately on them.
If the factor blades on the Uberturbine were designed to be efficient, would the other side of the vehicle be less efficient as the blades face the wrong direction? I'm not too fond of directional wheels that flip the pattern depending on the side of the car you are looking at.
Hey Brian, My wife’s 17’ X100 needs 4 new tires. Got 22’s now. Hate the stagger set up.. can I get all 19” squared set up wheels/tires without issues to compliance, tire wear, and safety? Appreciate your videos!!
Interesting gut feel analysis but would be much better with some actual numbers. Wind tunnel testing does not agree with gut feeling in that the problem with Tesla turbine and uber turbine is that they are all the same directional and that does not match airflow over the car. Should be angles backwards from rotation left and right. Teslas numbers say that the wheels wider than the tires give best economy due to tapered edge vs square edge profile. With aero covers this get better. With larger wheels the taper is not as good so worse. I guess I will have to run my own tests using efficient tires in both cases since most tests are putting 18" low rolling on performance vs sticky 20 or 21"
I would just like to get one size wider tire on the same width rim, because I am tired of touching my rims on the curb before my tire is even close. I was told that the narrower tires on just to improve range.
Correct but the wider tires look better and give a better ride. Going from 255 to 265 is about .5 inches wider. The car as room to go bigger and a little taller too

Hi i am living in Denmark i have a model y lang rang 2021 and i like to 20 turbin rims to my car but i finde 20 turbin rim from a model 3 but i dont know can i use this to my model y or not ? thanks if you give me a som info.
Hello, thank you for the video. Would you happen to know if I can put a 19x8.5 wheel instead of a 19x9.5 on my model Y? Is it possible or should I avoid it. Oh en offset would be +35 instead of +40.
Thank you for the video. 🙏🏼 Getting my Model Y in 2 weeks. I'm thinking about putting 19 or 20' on my MY but I don't want to sacrifice too much range for a cool look. T sportline makes a 19 & 20" version of the Uberturbines. I was told that the design of the Ubers are so aerodynamically efficient that even though they're really heavy wheels you still get efficiency like smaller and lighter wheels. So if the T sportline 19 Ubers (TSV) have that design and are lighter than the 21 Ubers & 19 Gemini's, would they be about as efficient as the Gemini's? This seemed like a good solution but I wanted to check before I decide what to buy. I also looked at Martians and love them but almost every wheel out there, even the lighter ones seem to lose a lot of effeciency since they're not aerodynamic. In fact I've had some people say the 20" Martian wheel uses the same w/hr as a 21" much much heavier Uberturbine. 😳 At least that's what people say. Hence it seems like the aerodynamic factor is the most important vs wheel weight when it comes to range right? Long story to ask you if you think I'll be good range wise and comfort wise if I got the 19" TSV's that have the same design as the 21" Ubers. Thank you so much. 🙏🏼
yall want something light weight then get the real deal (BBS FI-R) i got them for my porsche and its 16lbs for a 9inch width 20inch rim. its the lightest rims money can buy with a great brand BBS who doesnt know BBS. im getting a set for my model s plaid and advan gt super light rims for my model 3 performance. look those wheels up cause they r the best
Great information! I actually didn't order Tesla 20'' Model Y rims for the same weight reason and tire size. Do you know by chance how much original Tesla 19" Gemini rims weight vs 20"? I want to stay at 19" all-season tires but have the original 20" Tesla tires look. I bought Model Y 19" TSV Flow Forged Tesla Wheel and I hope it will not be too heavy vs Tesla 19" Gemini rims but I am assuming definitely should lighter original Tesla 20".
I’ve ordered a performance model with the 21” wheels. I’m struggling with the fact I can’t seem to find a winter/all season tire option for them. I live in a snow climate. I’m also not able to find a cheap set of wheels and tires to use during the winter as it seems the bolt pattern is unique. Any recommendations ?
Hi Brian, I’m getting ready to hit the button for a Model Y AWD, do you think the $2,000 upgrade tires are worth it? Or call can you take off the blade on the base tires like the Model 3? I would really like your thoughts. Thanks
@i1 tesla, on some of your track videos with the 18in wheels and tires that do not have the same rolling diameter (ie. A smaller overall diameter) as your 21in wheels, does that affect the indicated speed of a Tesla Model y? Or is the Tesla Model y speed GPS-based? thanks!
Hope you receive the Martian wheels. Really curious if the 20 inch Martians would be more efficient than the 21 inch Uberturbines. Light weight 20 vs aerodynamic 21.
Hi Brian! I've watched all of your *Amazing* videos - Thank you so much for keeping us *Up-to-Speed* (pun intended) on Tesla's! :) I'm anxiously awaiting my 2020 Red Model Y performance with PUP. This configuration comes with the 21" Uberturbine wheels but decreases the mileage from 315 without PUP to 280. Is the reduction of mileage attributed to staggered and wider tires on the Unberturbine wheel, or because it's a 21" wheel or that the wheel is much heavier? Thanks Brian!
Hey Brian I have been waiting for this Video thanks so much I am curious what specific wheel/ tire combos you would suggest for winter season north of NC to poss also have a range boost. currently looking at signature or martian 19 inch with Mich AS3+
Ken Cah It’s difficult to beat the efficiency on the stock wheel setup. Our goal is to have the perfect flush fitment, improve performance with minimal impact on range. Feel free to email me jamie@signaturewheel.com
It sounds like even though the signature wheels are lighter, your not seeing any range increase because they grab the air more than the stock wheels that are heavier. Is the weight reduction noticeable in acceleration or 0-60 times?
Hey, man! I’m currently running the stock 21” wheels for my performance upgrade model y, but I’d like to swap them out for something that gives me a smoother ride and more range. Any suggestions??
The only wheels and tires I'm looking for for my Model Y is a winter set. Should be able to do $2K or less I think...I'll probably need to wait another month or so until they start stocking winter tires though.
Im interested in the referral wheels, they look pretty cool!! I got the Y PUP, will I get more miles if switch to those referral? you also didnt mention why are you selling the 21 performance rims, you said the are very efficient but what are the downsides? Thank you!!
Hi. I live in the city of Atlanta. What do you recommend for smoothing out the bumps and pothole ride along with quiet? I heard 20" tires are prone to pothole flats.
The larger sidewall you have the better you are for quality. 20's on the Y are goin to be a good compromise when it comes time to replace tires. 19's are sometimes more money and less options
My opinion is the signature wheels, just crazy expensive for a “look”. It’s not going to give $4k to $6k worth of looks, performance or range to matter. But hey if you got money to burn I guess.
Beside the look, it’s also about the engineering we’ve put into every single design. We have over $3.5M in testing equipment to test every real world and racing scenario possible to ensure none of our customers will have a bad day using our wheels. We are the few wheel companies that honor warranty even if the wheels is solely for track use. There’s many other high end wheel companies that build fully custom forged wheel just like us but it will cost you over $8K a set, it all depend on what you comparing with. Feel free to email me, I’ll love to discuss more with you and answer any question you have. jamie@signaturewheel.com
Signature Jamie I appreciate that. I raced cars for many years. But if you’re really garnering just looks that’s a lot for looks. But like I said if people got the money to burn then more power to them. In racing there is a state of diminishing returns. Reducing rolling weight is always good. It’s just not something I would want to throw money out for basically looks. Also if you curb one Ouch.
I don’t think at this price point many Tesla customers would jump on any of these Signature wheels. I see some pictures of super cars on their site, those owners can afford expensive wheels, but most model X, S, 3 and Y owners I know, would think twice, and then some before even considering paying $4-6k for the rims only (plus tires and installation). I personally wouldn’t ever spend more than $2.5k for my model Y rims.
MrAndreybond yeah then there’s also the way they are being sold. I’m sure this channel is getting a good chunk from each one. I really struggle buying stuff on RUclips’s advice because so much is free items that they get a commission from. AvE is the only channel I know that refuses to take freebies
I agree, Signature wheel isn’t for everyone. What Signature focused on is custom fitment based on each individual. We own each Tesla model for a period of time. Not only we measured the fitment, but we went a step further of building at least 5 setups to fit on each model and find the best potential fitment combo. ( there can be efficiency setup, track and show setup etc...) Again, it all came down to personal preference, It is the similar to people who choose to spend $8k more on performance upgrade. With an extra by going with Signature, you get the exclusive fitment that other don’t provide, fully forged option with tons of finishing, great warranty and customer service.
19 or 20 inch for a LR Model Y. Like the look of the 20 but not sure if it’s worth possible ride quality hit, longevity and road rash risk. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Damnnn, this is an amazing video! I love how the new wheels look, especially the sports package ones! PS: i1Tesla inspired me to start my own channel, it would mean a lot to me if you checked it out!
Tesla factory wheels are the ugliest out there. I have TSW 20 forged wheels on my Y, they are called the Chrono and they are light and awesome looking, and......they are a lot less expensive then anything out there, about 350.00 each. Compare those to the ones in this video which are about 5000.00 which is nuts
One thing about lighter wheels they will be more efficient when city driving. Less mass to rotate and at lower speeds the aerodynamics are not as important! Great video!

Rear has 5mm spacers. Range decrease is about 7-8% from OEM 18” Aero. Have yet to do performance measures, as tires are still being broken in. This was some really great insight into the various wheels and now I know that I don't need those 21s. Thanks!
Thinner tires lighter rims paired with cross climate 2 and installing insulation in the tires does wonders
Thoughts on induction vs. Gemini? Are the inductions significantly more likely to have issues with potholes? I think they’re 40 vs the Gemini 45 profile. I think the inductions look great on the white or black paint but worried about pothole damage or curb rash.

For an everyday drive, what size wheel is the best for a Model Y, 20" or 21" ? I am looking a Vossen wheel, but want to be sure before buying them.
AG M610 20” staggered with stock Pirelli tires.

Hey Brian - great video. You should specify what offset your referral wheels are. There are (2) different part numbers for the referral wheels.

Is there a way to make the Tesla 18" Aero Wheels fit on the Model Y Performance? Maybe with a wheel spacer?
Hi. Did you find the answer and also potential tire size for the 18” aero for the MY? Used aero wheels seem very reasonably priced.
Still have the 21’s for sale?
So the sharp bladed 19" Martians may be a wash with the stock 20" model x on the highway?
tbh model x doesn’t look so big.. do the 22” tires help? (beside black being cooler or something..)
i1 Can you put 40 or 45 tires on a stock Tesla 21 inch staggered wheel on MYP ?
What gets better range? The model y stock 19” gems or the 20” black turbines?

yall want something light weight then get the real deal (BBS FI-R) i got them for my porsche and its 16lbs for a 9inch width 20inch rim. its the lightest rims money can buy with a great brand BBS who doesnt know BBS. im getting a set for my model s plaid and advan gt super light rims for my model 3 performance. look those wheels up cause they r the best
did you have to recalibrate the TPMS when changing wheel or it's automatically
Automatically happens
@@i1Tesla thank you!

I know I'm a bit late... but are those wheels still for sale?
I’ve ordered a performance model with the 21” wheels. I’m struggling with the fact I can’t seem to find a winter/all season tire option for them. I live in a snow climate. I’m also not able to find a cheap set of wheels and tires to use during the winter as it seems the bolt pattern is unique. Any recommendations ?
Hi Brian, I’m getting ready to hit the button for a Model Y AWD, do you think the $2,000 upgrade tires are worth it? Or call can you take off the blade on the base tires like the Model 3? I would really like your thoughts. Thanks
I would save the money and powder coat he 19's. The 20's look to Tesla like

@i1 tesla, on some of your track videos with the 18in wheels and tires that do not have the same rolling diameter (ie. A smaller overall diameter) as your 21in wheels, does that affect the indicated speed of a Tesla Model y? Or is the Tesla Model y speed GPS-based? thanks!
The Performance model on Tesla's sight says it has lowered suspension? So is it he same as the "Base" model?
Hope you receive the Martian wheels. Really curious if the 20 inch Martians would be more efficient than the 21 inch Uberturbines. Light weight 20 vs aerodynamic 21.
4:58 The "Western" (movies) called; it wants it's stagecoach back. 😄
[EDIT] 5:55 You in can still get a stealth option???
Hi Brian, Does the stock 21s fit on the AWD ones ? If yes I am interested in buying it from you :)
Titanium lug nuts are perfect for wheels . I know where can you get it at a great price :)
Would the Tesla 20" Induction wheels fit on your performance model Y? Is the current staggered while configuration an issue?
Both the wide tires and the weight
Hey Brian
I have been waiting for this Video
thanks so much
I am curious what specific wheel/ tire combos you would suggest for winter season north of NC to poss also have a range boost.
currently looking at signature or martian 19 inch with Mich AS3+
Ken Cah It’s difficult to beat the efficiency on the stock wheel setup. Our goal is to have the perfect flush fitment, improve performance with minimal impact on range.
Feel free to email me jamie@signaturewheel.com
Would you like to buy a brand new set of wheels from OHM 20" gross black for your model X. Don't know how to send pictures.😅
It sounds like even though the signature wheels are lighter, your not seeing any range increase because they grab the air more than the stock wheels that are heavier. Is the weight reduction noticeable in acceleration or 0-60 times?
Wonder who will make lightweight forged wheels that are also aerodynamic
Brian: Have you seen the Brake Caliper covers from MGP. I have them on my M3 in 'blue' to match my car color. They make me look 'different'.
Don't get covers. The never look good
How does 21" handle potholes?
i drive cautiously watching for potholes and Still I dented 3 rims in 7 months on my 2020 model 3 performance rims lol get new rims asap
Hey, man! I’m currently running the stock 21” wheels for my performance upgrade model y, but I’d like to swap them out for something that gives me a smoother ride and more range. Any suggestions??
I would go with Signature wheels or Martain wheels. But go with a 19-20 inch
i1Tesla Thanks for your reply! But what are the signature wheels?
what's the recommended tire pressure for those tires
Teslas should be at 40-42PSI
It's still not clear to me if range on the Performance Model Y increases to the 315 if you put on the 19" Gemini's. Could you clarify, please?
David Ennis Yes it does
The only wheels and tires I'm looking for for my Model Y is a winter set. Should be able to do $2K or less I think...I'll probably need to wait another month or so until they start stocking winter tires though.
i'm in the same boat. Do you mean 2k USD?
@@SuperPanda1122 yes, $2000 or less on a set of winter wheels all in.
I was surprised to see Martian offering a 18x8.5 to fit Model Y Has anyone here tried that fitment for lower weight?
Im interested in the referral wheels, they look pretty cool!! I got the Y PUP, will I get more miles if switch to those referral? you also didnt mention why are you selling the 21 performance rims, you said the are very efficient but what are the downsides? Thank you!!
What finish did you chose for your Signature Wheels?
S M Brushed Black Triple Tinted
I chose the Martian 19x8.5 wheels for my model Y.
Great choice
Any pictures?
Does anyone know what's the best wheels for Model s? Weight wise
I’m going to go with some 22s lol
I want your tesla ❤
Facts
did you sell the wheels yet?
You still have any wheels for sale?
Hi will a 18” wheels from model 3 fit on the model Y performance ?
No they won't but the 18's from Martain wheels will martianwheels.com
Are you going to sell your rear spoiler?
How much do you want for the referral wheels? I live in Huntersville.
Brian, how much are you selling the Uberturbines for? thanks
19 or 20 inch for a LR Model Y. Like the look of the 20 but not sure if it’s worth possible ride quality hit, longevity and road rash risk. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Great video! Do you know if the stock Model Y 21's could possibly fit a Model S that has 21 turbines?
The bolt pattern is different
Just wish I had one referral... maybe one day
I wouldluv to paint that pair of 20 for u?
I don't want a bigger rim. I want a small rim. I really want a 15inch rim. Big rims look stupid to me.
Gosh I wonder who’s sponsoring this guy? Lol
Damnnn, this is an amazing video! I love how the new wheels look, especially the sports package ones!
PS: i1Tesla inspired me to start my own channel, it would mean a lot to me if you checked it out!
Keep up the videos
@@i1Tesla Thanks, I love your channel!
Talk about procrastination!
I hate thr look of the rims on my Tesla
$6k for wheels? Seriously?
You can bay more if you want. Some companies are 15K
Signature rims are over priced
I would save your money and buy some Tesla stock...wheels and tires are a waste of money for these cars.
