  • 👍 In today’s video, I’m going to tell you what to do if Windows 10 can’t see computers in its network. If you encounter this issue and your Windows 10 computer can no longer see other PCs in the network neighborhood or disappears from the network itself, this video will help you fix the problem.
Users started to experience the problem with displaying other computers in the local network back in the days of version 1703 (Creators Update). After installing this update and trying to open the network neighborhood the computer stops recognizing other members of such network.

Thank you so much for this video and saving my sanity. Spent roughly the last week troubleshooting this, and was losing my mind at everyone that kept telling me to turn network discovery on. IT IS ON lol. SMB was my culprit in the end. Now on to the next step, building my NAS. Thanks again for your help!!!

I went through all the processes indicated other videos, including recovering windows. This after checking all other processes, network discovery, etc. The netsh command that set a rule allowing network discovery past the firewall did the trick. Interesting that only my Dell Inspiron required this. Thanks so much!

Also in Windows, answering to pings is disabled by deafult so if you cant ping a computer you need to change firewall settings in the computer you are sending pings to

hit "Comment" button by mistake & it was posted. there has been more updates. I was seeing my other two desktops and my "READYSHARE" disk that is connected to the router. After the update, on this computer & the desktops, I cannot see the Network. Will try the ideas in the video. Hope they work.

Leave it to MS to make things much more difficult than necessary... This worked after going to the windows components step. My questions are: Why not a utility to automatically set this up? And according to MS the SMB v1.0 is an insecure obsolete protocol, so why then is there not a more secure way to do this?

    • @HetmanRecovery
      @HetmanRecovery  3 года назад

That's a good question to ask either MS or third-party developers...

Thank you for this video. I still have issue and question.
I have 2 Laptops, 1.Win10Pro and 2.Win10Home. From 2.Win10Home I can see and access data of 1.Win10Pro. BUT from 1.Win10Pro I see in network laptop 2.Win10Home but after clicking on icon of computer I see error - windows cannot access (diagnose or cancel) Any suggestions? That 2.Win10Home laptop - I see Network ID in grey.
ON which of these two computers I should try to reset network in this case?

Working on another PC with the same issue. In the video at 2:42 I had to change the suggested command to "netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="Network Discovery" new enable=Yes" to get it to work. Also at this time when I issue "net view" I get "System error 53 has occurred. The network path was not found".

I'm going in circles on this with the new PC (new to my network). The new PC does not see my main PC (desktop running Windows 10 with the latest updates (Version 20H2 (OS Build 19042.1110)). The main PC (I call it S4), has a static IP, several internal drives that I share to all. I just looked at the Network on S4 and it no longer sees the New PC (HP-AllInOne) whereas it could see it two days ago. On the New PC (Version 20H2 (HP-AllInOne) I've checked and all of your recommended settings are set, the same is true for the main PC (S4). I just turned on, an old PC (SONY-VAIO) and the HP-AllInOne is displayed when I view the Network but I don't see S4 but I do see the drives on S4 that I have connected to. On the Sony-Vaio I can access "Map network drive" but on the HP-AllInOne the option is grayed out. Sorry to be the dumb user but I'm totally lost. If you have other videos that I should watch please list them for me. tks!!!

Very good video indeed. I do have a rather unique issue. On my network I have one windows 10 laptop and an Nvidia shield TV android box as well as a 4 TB hard drive connected to my ASUS router. I notice whenever my laptop is booted up before the Nvidia shield TV box I can see the box and the 4TB hard drive as computers in Network Neighborhood. However if the Nvidia shield TV box is booted before the laptop then I don't see the Nvidia shield TV box and the 4TB hard drive in Network Neighborhood. The 4TB hard drive is always on because it is connected to the router which is always on as well. Have you ever heard or seen such an issue? thanks for your reply.

Excellent. Fixed my 'no computers on lan' problem. How about a follow-up on how to find missing printer on the lan? It was there okay until MS upgraded me to win10 2004 in their usual helpful fashion. Now it's gone. Can anyone help? Some missing services again? Which?

This is great. Fixed my problem with win10 2004. Services/func disc res pub set to auto, reboot, finds everything.
And I love it when he tells us what they're doing - they don't want us using our own earthbound resources - they want us in the habit of using the cloud, their cloud, so that all our stuff gets uploaded.
And instead of being upfront about it and friendly, they adopt these sneaky tactics...
    Which speaks volumes, of itself.
    Not good is it...

None of this should be required after a clean install of Win 10 and enabling network discovery by default. Microsoft obviously had changed network sharing settings/configuartions without telling the public and now they can't see toher computers without typing in \\computername.
