This song keeps in line with her theme of writing the "other side of the story" to other famous songs. Sugarland's song "Stay" was written as an answer to Reba's "Whoever's in New England" song. This song is clearly inspired by Dolly's "Jolene" and tells the story from Jolene's point of view. I like that she shows us there are two sides to every story. As a side note, motherhood really agrees with her. She's more beautiful than ever.

I heard this song a couple weeks ago and never knew it was Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland. It is definitely a different sound for her. Great job Jennifer. Country music women rock.

That's the good thing about real country music (and much of any decent music). You can string several songs together by different artists and get quite a picture of what can happen in situations like this.

I love how she's now playing Dolly's mother in her new movie!
I instantly liked the song upon listening to it by chance on Spotify. But now after watching the music video repeatedly, if I may add, I love it more than ever. The director transparently shows the song's message.
The song talks about a woman who initially only feels guilt and embarrassment after an affair with a married man, but gradually feels sympathy for the married wife. The lyricist wants to say that she doesn't want to be "that girl" that is the mistress or "that girl" that is the cheated wife.
When the mistress goes to the bathroom, she faces two revelations: (1) the physical and mental reflection of herself; (2) her meditation on what it would feel like to be in the other woman's shoes. Nonetheless, I love the song and the music video because it takes one through the eyes of the mistress. Not to mention, I liked how the song is coming from the perspective of the mistress because it's rarely or not at all talked about due to societal stigma.

My favorite. It's the perfect pop video and torch song. Her voice is incredible, and the visuals are fantastic. Super storytelling! Love the ending. All of her songs/videos have an ironic ending. Also: can everyone here agree that this is the sexiest video of all time? 😋 Also: I lied, honey I wanna be that girl, lol.

I am just kinda tickled by the fact that I found a video and enjoyed it so much that I subscribed just to realize that this is the same singer I enjoyed so much previously that my wife bought me a Sugerland CD. I guess that she is consistent in the quality of her singing and I am consistent in my musical taste.

this is a fabulous video with one of my all time favorite--in my top 5--of female balladeers! Jennifer Nettles is such a Huge talent...a wonderful actress, too. I think she is one of the few huge artists today who seems to be exactly what she shows to the world--a really genuine, great gal!

As my Grandmother used to say. Honey their are not just 2 sides to every story. There are 3 so I was ok so what’s the third. She said somewhere in the middle of the two you were told. I’ve never forgotten this. My Grandmother was a woman who was cheated on,abused and yet never raised her voice and I never heard her utter one curse word. My Grandfather passed away at a fairly young age. She was his second wife his first died then he met my Grandmother and as he had 2 younger children with. No idea of how to be a Mother or a Father. So he met my Beautiful Scandinavian grandmother with her blue eyes that could Pearce your soul and blonde hair. She was beautiful. She had 10 more children and he was a horrible mean drunk. Yet she never spoke bad of him. She was a truest woman of class and GOD. I believe he died to save her. That would,d even be a great story. I feel besides her beauty. He married her out of needing a woman to raise his 2 small children. They loved her as their Mother because they were so young they didn’t really remember their birth Mother. Also the other children treated them as 100% whole blood. She was a good Mother.🙏🙏🙏🙏
