  • A bank holiday afternoon at Delamere Station on the Mid-Cheshire Line. The main highlight was seeing 70811 and 70817 double-heading on an incredibly rare log train diversion. This diversion only takes place when the West Coast Mainline is closed between Wigan North Western and Warrington Bank Quay on a weekday. The pair of 70s passed through the station with some incredible thrash and could be heard screaming in the distance well over a minute before they passed. Also seen two hours earlier was a pair of class 37s, 37612 and 37610, operating the monthly 1Q41 test train in place of the usual 73s. I was hoping to get some thrash from these too, but they unfortunately just coasted through since they were following behind a Chester-bound Northern service.

Cracking footage! So good to see the log train on this part of the line, let alone double 70s hauling!
