Passed my test first time today, thankyou for all of your videos and for learner drivers I’d definitely recommend watching all of the videos on James’ channel that you can before the test. Thankyou James!
I still struggle with roundabouts. For some reason I find it difficult to get my car into the left lane when going straight ahead ahead. This is very helpful, thanks.
I'm devastated, I failed my test yesterday, I only had 2 minors..... My parrellell Park was spot on, my emergency stop was amazing, my observations were perfect and then 4 mins Befor the end of the test I didn't make 'enough effort' to go around a mini roundabout. My focus and research has all been on the big roundabouts lately 😭😭
Sounds like you were very close to passing. If the mini roundabout was a silly mistake and you normally nail them, then it could of been tiredness creeping in. Good luck with your next test
Is that in Lancashire? The government and the Highways Agency have done a good job in clearing away all the road clutter/street signs and putting green verges in the centre of the roads and along the sides etc, wish that that could be done all over the UK. Looks a lot nicer than the concrete hell in London.
You always upload great contents. Thank you so much, this's so helpful. Wish you could put each mistake on the screen then explained it that would've been easier to understand! Thanks a lot anyway :)
@@JamesTravis hi please can I ask you a question I’m not happy as I feel like I’ve been treated unfairly from my examiner yesterday I had my test and the examiner failed due to waiting abit on crossroad box what really happened was I was in the right lane indicating to go right I was in box they was no yellow box I was in the middle waiting for traffic ahead that were going another direction before I go as it wasn’t clear the traffic was heavy I couldn’t go because the road ahead wasn’t clear so then the traffic light for the left and right traffic went green but it was unfortunate I couldn’t move as yet but I was communicating with both traffics I was about to move and another car was crossing on the other side so then looked left and right and now I’m moving off as the traffic was clear the traffic on the left and right waited for me to cross as they know the traffic was heavy on the other side I was waiting for the car ahead to go I waited in a box no king than 2 mins now I went as it was safe but my examiner failed me on that and I think that was unfair as I feel I’ve done the right and safe thing If I went when both cars both side we’re moving it would have been dangerous and we would have bumped into each other I done what was safe please tell me what do you think about this. As I’m thinking to report the examiner as he made me feel so crap that day he made me feel like he was going to pass me when we got at the test centre he said make yourself feel comfortable and took a good 1 min looking in his bag before saying I’ve failed which was shocked because why does it take examiner this look to state result I’ve had him before and he never took this long this just feel like he was passing me but changed his mind also on my test everything I do something correct he will say well done and make me feel good then he goes and fail me when I drove soo smoothly and safe.
@@JamesTravis I agree, but I need to have my full licence, so I can get that practice i need. My instructor says my driving is fine, it's just like you said, speed on approach and reading the signs, planning ahead etc. In fact my confidence has complety gone downhill. I've been driving for years, since 1986, and had my license from 1991 in California, BUT, the layouts of the roads and the roundabouts are very new and different here. I have been driving in the UK for around 18 months so far, but just don't feel confident. I was , but my tests Friday and I'm feeling very unsure about it Would there be any advice on apart from slowing down, anything else I could do to know what's coming up ahead.
I failed my test today. First time got a grade 3 on a roundabout which is an automatic fail .my instructor told me to take the second exit at the roundabout but I took my position in the right hand lane and went on to the roundabout and a jeep came from right it was a weird roundabout..anyway I failed straight away. Need less to say I wont do that again
My test is after 2 days and I really struggle with signaling at the roundabouts I always forget ! Everything else I am doing really well ,but I am worried because roundabout I could get serious fault if I don't signal on aprouch! Thanks for the video anyway !
Wish you the very best. A lot of factors come into play when you taking the test so do not get too worked up and just do as you have been instructed to, relax and all will be well. It's a learning experience at the end of the day. You will grow from it.
Hiya I have a question if I am on a wrong lane just before roundabout and Iam too late to change what do I do then say I need to go right at the roundabout but Iam on the left or middle instead on the right lane at the last minute then what do I do?
@learn-to-drive travis I passed🤘🥳 I got the examiner that has a bit of a reputation in my city for failing people and got 10 driving faults, but it’s a pass.😝 Thanks, your videos really helped a lot over the past few months and I’ll be still watching, just because I passed doesn’t mean I have nothing else to learn.
Mirror, mirror, mirror, mirror, mirror, mirror very very serious dangerous if you not use very much which is I failed once coz I've been using it 70% and blind spot save you of accident if you use them all the time before you move on.... If anyone need tips your welcome ill help you to pass the driving test once.... I live in London area if anyone near me........ Plus the instructor does not looking at his right hand side in first roundabout which is he failed too 🤔
I’ve just had a few lessons but I’m starting to oversteer when it comes to turning right. Does anyone have any tips for how much to steer when turning right?
It depends on the turn you're taking whether it's sharp or not. Also it will come with practice! I was like that but after my lesson number 10 I was doing it correctly without oversteering. I now had 21 lessons but roundabouts still scaring me!!!!
@@na-up6gs Actually, truth be told, roundabouts are a piece of cake. Like I told Paul, all you need do is have more practice. I will suggest going at times when it's all quiet and taking it all in. The more you do it, the easier they get. I was like you at first but did put in more work. One of the things you can do is just stand afar and watch how the experienced drivers negotiate them. I used to try them on my bicycle!
You look like a very friendly driving instructor :)
Thank you

Congratulations on passing and thank you for watching
Usually if a road on test is closed, the examiner will jump in a tell say which alternative road they want you take.
You’re videos have really helped me I’ve passed my driving test first time today with 0 driving faults
Fantastic result, congratulations

doing a marathon on your videos, thanks a lot. Got a lesson this afternoon and hoping i won't make any mistakes.

Always a breath of fresh air
What about observations when exiting the roundabout, like how many checks you should do, or if a blind spot check is necessary?
I just passed my test with 3 minors. Your videos helped a lot. Thanks :)

Very good advice about roundabouts, simple really.

I just get confused on roads I'm not familiar with. My instructor tells me to slow right down but then I need to give gas to get to the line.
Sounds like your practice is on approach speed. It’s one of those things that improve with practice.

Thanks for the video, so if there was a car on the left just before you were leaving the roundabout could you just go around again in the right lane?
If there is a risk of a collision, then staying in the right lane and going round is the safe thing to do.
