  • Larry Lloyd is a football legend. A winner of trophies during the glory days of Liverpool and Forest with 11 career trophies to his name
Lloyd was one of the few names brought into Nottingham Forest to strengthen the team and fulfill Brian Clough's lofty ambitions. Lloyd instantly formed a defensive partnership with Kenny Burns and the two men are still close friends to this day
We spoke to Lloyd about Brian Clough, Bill Shankly and Sir Alf Ramsey and the Upcoming Nottingham Forest Legends reunion (which you can check out here)

Larry Lloyd won virtually every honour in the game including European Cups, Uefa Cup, League titles, League Cups and played in the 1971 FA Cup Final. When people talk about English footballing legends, he isn't a name that springs to mind!
However, none of this is coincidence. Particularly if you have won the League with different Clubs.

That is why I am here the fella never gets a mention, didn't even know what he looked like. He obviously does not play the 'modern media game'.

I remember first seeing Larry Lloyd playing for Bristol Rovers at Goodison Park in a FA Cup 4th round game in January 1969.
It was played on a Tuesday night due to a snowbound Goodison the Saturday before, Even under the huge Goodison Pylon lights you had snow all round the ground perimeter. Though in the third division Bristol played well against a great Everton side that would be champions the next year. Larry was partnered in central defence by another 6ft plus Stuart Taylor. and played the Blues attack well.
It was said Bill Shanley was in the Everton stands and saw Larry give a great display. He later signed him
And in January 1970 Scunthorp played Tranmere in an FA Cup game at Goodison, Bill was also at the game and had his first glimpse of Kevin Keegan, and the rest is history. Both went on to star for Liverpool.
Later in 1977 I saw Larry on the opening game of the season playing for Notts Forest, who had just been promoted at Everton.
Forest won 3-1 against a strong Everton team and went on the win the league title that year, which was a remarkable achievement.

Well Paisley preferred Thompson who won 3 Champions League or European cups, same thing different name lol. Hey Paisley was very cunning manager quiet soft spoken but ruthless.
