No more excuse Marques. You wanted pro apps, you got them. You shoot Autofocus videos on a phone, now you can edit on iPad.
Shoot on iPad with centerstage and edit on iPad 🤙🏻
Shows new RUclipsrs can start their career with up front cost of 2k (iPad and accessories) then 5$ a month. Then they can live with that until they start making RUclips money.
@@yippiecalle421 why would you need 2k? It’s coming to the iPad Air as well. That starts at $600. Magic Keyboard is $250. Pencil is $129. Even with no sales that’s under $1000. You don’t even need the keyboard if you don’t want it
Logic pro and final cut on iOS are not full implementations. Why does Apple continue lobotomizing iPad apps?
@@toptiertech7291 typing up a script with no keyboard could be pretty painful haha, but I guess it's POSSIBLE.
Ellis' delivery of "I would absolutely love to" killed me. Great episode.
1:18:20 😂
RELEASE THE ELLIS+DAVID CUT!!
I want to hear his full commentary on the difference between Component and Composite
(and all the other random nerd rants)
I am here for this. I'd learn something, I could see how long Adam could laugh for and we'd see if Marques would actually lose the will to live
I want a video about the nerd rant white the camera is fixed on marques and slowly zooming in on him.
me tooooooooooooo
I need this! Actually sounds interesting to me!
Clips channel would be perfect for this, I'm here for it
Dogfooding is not specifically related to special code builds, but it's specifically a term that refers to the using of your own product as a user. So, for example, if an Apple employee is using MacOS or an Apple device, they are specifically dogfooding that device, even if they are not specifically testing it, because they're using the thing they themselves made. The term exists because in a lot of cases software companies do not actually use the products they sell, so are often unaware of what it's like to actually be a user of the product they create. Dogfooding is often considered a good practice, because it allows you as a product creator to actually understand the weaknesses in your own product in a way you do not necessarily ever identify through QA or just as a casual observer.
Thanks ChatGPT!
Came here to say this
I feel like you sort of understood or fed it into GPT as homie before said to give you the answer but your way over complicated explanation omitting how they're using a developmental version build or in the profession would be an alpha build: You're using a rough draft yourself or among your direct, very tight and controlled group before even having a larger yet still controlled group in beta builds. It's used for testing your rough draft. I would lean towards the same you were fed that answer either way
I feel like it hasn’t made to iOS devs in Europe. I’ve been contracting for eight years and it’s the first I’m hearing of it!
And are you sure it doesn’t come from being a ruff build 😏
The whole outro section of this episode is 10/10 funny.
I was surprised that Ellis wasn't allowed to finish! I am so in awe of the team. So knowledgeable and likable. I am spending my time in good company. :)
as someone who is also the group nerd, listening to Ellis and watching him light up in the outro was lovely 🤓
19:30 to clarify further, 'dog fooding' generally refers to when the people making the thing in question are actually using the thing in question in their daily lives. It often leads to more rapid development and ironing out of bugs, or QoL features, as the people who are making it are actually using the thing. Its a good strategy in software as often so many of the people who make the things never use it, so they have no attachment, inherent understanding or buy-in to what they're users may be facing.
Mmmm, I would argue it's less about rapid development and just good practice to take what you built and test it either yourself or in a very close circle before rolling to beta and opening the doors on testing. We call it alpha builds
Between the Twitter alternatives and the insane trivia ... one of my favorite shows.
1:19:25 Ellis never change, please LMAOOOOOOO
"I wanna know though" best words to end the podcast on!
It’s fascinating how attached I got to these guys talking about tech and how they have relighted my passion towards.
I seriously appreciate you guys’ work to upload regularly. I look forwards to it every Friday and it’s almost like a treat at the end of the school week.
Thanks WVFRM team.
It might be just me but Twitter has never really clicked with me. Tried to use it multiple times over the years and never lasted longer than a day. The experience always reminded me of a flee market with this constant unstructured noise from every direction. Personally I wouldn't miss it if it went down, and I'm all in for something new and decent.
Andrew is the MVP of the podcasts, he's such a great interlocutor, he's like the grease on the gears of the conversation, keeps things moving, he makes sure everyone else flows well, too.
The only thing that makes me nervous about the dashcam feature is my phone cooking while I"m driving. Using the camera already typically burns battery as it is. Also the my pixel gets pretty hot when it's working.
Facts
one point that 'teamstudio' over here may be overlooking is that tiktok has created a new breed of editors, I took a friend of mine for a 1hr driving lesson, my friend asked me to use their phone to record them while they were driving and like 30 mins after the lesson there was a nicely edited tiktok video online with music and evrything ...there was a whatsapp status update of that video ... this ipad-finalcut app is for the next-gen tiktok creators...
We should've never left MySpace. Tom was nothing but good to us.
Love that Andrew slipped in, "Overwatch is cancelled" real quick
grreat episode guys and good to see you back in the studio. Keep it up!
the imovie question: it does not fully, as there are a lot less transitions and themes on the ipad version, which i never understood as to why there's less on ipad now
1:18:24 is there a clip about the component and composite explanation, i want to know too
Composite is interlacing all 3 RGB colors
Component is de-interlacing physically each color.
I disagree that RUclips is too big to fail. We would’ve said the same thing about Twitter. There’s nothing preventing Google from saying “RUclips isn’t profitable. We’re going to sell it to person X who’s the highest bidder who also happens to be someone that doesn’t know what they’re doing and doesn’t have the community’s best interests at heart.”
Yup. GeoCities was probably too big to fail, but fail it did.
Blockbuster was too big to fail... Some car manufacturers were too big to fail... Hell, some BANKS were too big to fail...
Hahaha chaotic but hilarious episode! Love you guys and your work.
Regardless of the dash cam ability, phones need to now have pass through charging where the phone can sustain on the plugged in power source without affecting the battery charge cycles like gaming phones or the new sony xperia 1 mark 5
RIP to the hat topics of madness. You will be missed
It'll come back!
@@Waveform Eyyy
I need the outtakes from this pod thou lolololololololol
I really liked this trivia! got both these right for once haha.
I am gonna start watching your podcasts , really love your RUclips channel
Ellis is the best kind of troll 😂
I actually genuinely miss Google+.
Same, circles were absurdly cool and how you could hide all the number bullshit from everywhere.
I hate numbers being inflated to a "status" of some sort. Like I get if you're a person doing business, so having access to numbers is cool to show advertisers/sponsors etc. but they don't have to be visible to everyone for an ego boost.
Would exporting a FCPX XML intermittently be worth adding to your workflow in lieu of potentially crashes?
With the iPad Logic Pro coming soon, what USB-C Midi Keyboard would you recommend pairing with this? I also have a Focusrite Scarlett which connects via USB-C, but unsure what good options there are!
the Google Plus commentary. Felt that one in my reminiscent bones.
As a musician, I’m so glad Ellis talked about Logic lol.
The Tellus TV is the most cyberpunk idea i have ever heard in this week lol
This is exactly what I was thinking. It's just like the TVs in your apartments in Cyberpunk 2077
I felt the episode was just getting started with that Ellis intro to component vs composite!
Not fair. I wanna hear ellis explain composite v/s component! Please release that as a clip!
tbh i did want to hear the whole explanation at the end there... just me? cool
This is amazing video with great works very well
Okay. Kinda annoying that you guys didn’t read the page for Final Cut Pro for iPad. Third Party Plug-ins are coming later in an update and it’s pretty clearly transfer from iPad to Mac, not the other way around.
Yeah they clearly didn't prep for this lol.
@@j.d.5709 Which is weird, since this is a week after the announcement (previous ep was dedicated to I/O). Doesn’t really make sense, as it isn’t some last minute addition
Interesting! Thanks for sharing it. ✌️
lmao, after all that build up for the first trivia question and the editors put 264 nanometers instead of 464...
I'd love to see the Apple Watch Band collection marques has!
For Final Cut on ipad, I feel this is meant for the current generation of creators who shoot on their phone (the future iPhone 15 Pro Max) and edit on their iPad and export. The lifestyle person. The vlogger. The documentarian.
I don’t think they want it for the working professional shooting on RED and going back and forth between iPad/Mac Pro/iPad.
If anything, they’ll release an iPhone version.
And you couldn’t do this on Luma Fusion? I don’t know if Apple brought much new here other than a subscription. If you want something that quickly does the job you have LF. For a little extra you have Final Cut integration if it’s a starting point. If you need something more complex I think Davinci is the better choice with a ton of stuff for free, and a reasonably pro price if you going hardcore with it.
@@sloppynyuszi yes I think that’s the play. But the thing that apple brings is a far superior touch experience. I actually believe this took so long because they wanted to be better than LumaFusion or Adobe Rush for your average apple user.
Apple is rarely first. But they want to be superior when they finally release a product.
I like to rag on Premiere as much as the next person, but you can totally change auto-save frequency and their save location in the Settings.
I have it set to auto-save every 1 minute in the same folder as my working file. Makes it easy to find!!
Man it really sucks i cant edit video on my A12Z, but I am looking forward to a step up from a GarageBand in Logic. I cant find a reason to upgrade otherwise, this iPad Pro 2nd gen 11inch is a tank.
I do actually use Pluto TV every 1-2 weeks. Whenever I just need something to throw on while I'm cleaning up or I just want that type of continuous content it's pretty useful. It also has a bunch of niche on demand shows that I watch. However, that TV sounds horrifying. As soon as you guys said it had a camera I was out lmao.
everything you guys asked for about scores is already built into a lot of things. fubo has it, directv has it, f1 has it, apple tv
A good question is will the fcp on iPad replace the Mac version with the new silicon chip.
Great ending to the episode 🤣🤣
As to the autosaving of Final Cut vs Premiere that is just user laziness on the part of you guys, Premiere lets you set your autosave frequency down to once a minute if you want to. Premiere also lets you set how many project versions to keep in your autosave folder so if you have one that keeps crashing you can just go back to the version before that. Finally Premiere allows you to automatically upload your backups to the creative cloud with just a checkbox in the settings. If you are used to Final Cut keep using that but don't complain about a lack of a feature because you're too lazy to change the settings.
I have never laughed so hard at trivia 😂😂😂
Does CarPlay for EVs know the speed of the chargers and how full they are and your car’s charging curve though?
Exactly what they need an API to the on board CPU to know which of course most are not going to give the sauce or key to
@@j.ballsdeep420 and even then, Tesla does extra work where, because they know all the cars that are navigating to each charger, they can predict what each charger’s load will be when you’d get there and route you to the one that’ll be less crowded. That only works if every car uses the same navigation system
are the flash storage chips on pixels or phones in general even designed to handle that many rewriting?
I think these guys really have an opportunity to set up their own platform or a server and a community with this open protocol. I would jump on it.
Great outro!
please post the clip of explaining all the things at the end. need that for my next date! :D
The Polestar 2's version of Android Auto has all of the charging information that Marques is talking about.
Worked at Microsoft years back for Exchange. Anyone and everyone was dog fooding exchange email services. If you worked at MS and had a Microsoft email address... Your exchange server started with a DF prefix and you were testing new features whether you wanted it or not!
Damn the “like this” was a nice touch!
Small correction, when you change your username on Bluesky to you websites name (domain name). Your account isn't being hosted on your website. All of your data is still on Blueskys servers. But you are correct that the AT Protocol will allow you to host your data wherever you would like.
My fave is learning about new/preferred apps. I mean thats tech, too right??
Why did you cut out elllis's explanation at the end.. i would've like to hear it 😂😂😂
7:20 you mention Premiere only autosaves every once and a while, you can set it to save however frequently you want if you head to Edit > Preferences > Auto Save
I can't wait for the XDA custom rom for the Pluto Telly to ship. Then it'll just be a completely free tv with no drawbacks.
Component isn’t actually separate RGB signals. It’s another kind of composite but just not via 1 wire.
CarPlay may not be able to tell the car WHAT to do, but normally these type of communications are handled with a programatic interface. CarPlay interface for EVs defines a set of functions and the manufacturer implements them as it makes most sense for their system.
So for a Tesla, a function could be called "PrepareToCharge" and that would do whatever it needs to prepare the car.
For a Porsche, it will do whatever is needed for that case.
The interface is agreed to beforehand, manufacturers implement whatever they need to, the way it makes sense for their system.
Pluto TV is great for background noise. CSI channel for all day CSI or the Bob Ross channel for all day happy thoughts. They also have some on demand movies (with commercials i think), but they do have some more newer episodes.
When will Final Cut be available on Apple Watch
I don't know if it exist anywhere else. But where I live, there was a service that offer one time payment for the router then you can use it to access the internet for free. But you have to watch ads after few minutes or the internet will just disconnected. It end its service in 2020 due to Covid
I would've loved to hear the whole explanation at the end it was hilariously interesting 🤣
1:46 You can get Final Cut Pro on the MacBook Air too, so the “Pro” name is similar between iPad and MacBook.
Dash cam is going to over heat phones like no tomorrow.. especially running music, maps camera at the same time?
Love the shout out to Google+ ! Miss it, it's simplicity and quality (when that was a thing)
Super hard to monitze beyond the OPEX it cost them to sustain. Easy plug to pull
y'all confused us on the last part😂😂😆 Composite and component
Ellis talking about composite cables while rocking a Xbox 360 Kinect Shirt
Most business subscriptions I’ve seen are X dollars per user per month. So, you could be talking about having one license that you can install on multiple devices but then end up paying for each employee monthly if they change the Mac version.
Could you elaborate which subscriptions you're referring to? All of the enterprise subscriptions we have at our Fortune 50 company I'm aware of are based on user number period and not time used.
23:38 what a timing !!!
Hi guys, actually, dog food is not necessary a “build” phase of product, but the selected devices that are Golden and can be send out to parties that are developing/ testing the product. There are other phrases for Golden samples and dog food is just one of them.
38:25 you have to be careful about which server you choose. The last time I looked into it, server owners can see all your DMs. Also, they can arbitrarily kick you out. I saw a post from someone who got kicked out for making a post that the server owner did not like, and when appealed, he asked for a bribe to be let back in. Those who care about privacy and content moderation should be careful about which mastodon server they sign up on I guess.
To be clear, this also happens with twitter, or any other social media platform for that matter. They can read your PMs and kick you out if they want to. I agree, chose your server carefully, or if you are technical enough, host your own.
@@chamalinni Yeah - and switching Mastodon servers (with all your followers AND people you follow) takes under 10 minutes. 🤷🏻♂️
That tv sounds a lot like a wall screen from Fahrenheit 451.
I didn't know Andrew was chill like that
He cracks me up. He's so funny
The TV feels so very 1984.
I feel like its only a stones throw away from requiring you to actively pay attention to the ads before it continues, or requiring you to interact with it.
I can imagine a future where a McDonald's ad comes on and it won't stop until everyone in the room jumps up and shouts "I'm lovin' it".
If you don't do it with enough enthusiasm it could then call that person out by name or maybe charge them a fine.
If you’re into EVs you know A Better Routeplanner that you can use while using CarPlay/ Android Auto. It uses elevation and weather to predict the range + in pro it takes information from your car. It’s pretty accurate
32:12 they could have the car handle the preconditioning. basically have both carplay and the car know the route. so the car can do its own thing based on the route, and the phone its own things.
Surprised I didn't hear anything about Spoutible in the Twitter alternative portion
I like Hive Social so far. Thought it feels more like a combo of Twitter and Instagram
Very good video
yall should release the component signal clip lol
I really want to know the composite vs component video signals! Give me back that extra 40 minutes content! I demand it. 😛
Ellis is such a nerd, I love it!
It took a while to get GarageBand to work between iOS and Mac. Hopefully this won’t take as long.
FCP on ipad. Still wondering when a first party calculator app is coming to iPad.
23:39 That’s a lot of data.
The value of the pro apps bundle for education is insane.
Switched from Spotify to RUclips just so I could see Marques and David say “That’s a lot of data” at the same time on screen 23:37
Cant believe the episode ended at the most interesting part of the show
Apple mentioned 3rd party conten comming soon. So, I think those are the plugins.
So rocketfish lied, the composite cable for the Wii was red, yellow, white, blue, and green
Imagine that, watching F1 with all the data 👀
