Good job.Does the magnet still affect all the pole pieces the same way after re orienting the bobbins? Or maybe the correct question is does the modified dimarzio give the same even response on all strings?

great video. do you also need to keep track of the magnets orientation so that neck and bridge pickup together work properly? or does that not matter?

Yes you should. If you rotated only one pickup you'd probably have phasing issues.

@@ManBunMetalHead just had a thought, is there a risk to mess it up and the pickup becomes microphonic?

It's unlikely. Pickups become microphonic when the wires wrapped around the coil vibrate. This is prevented by the wax potting which shouldn't be affected when modifying the pickup.

There's no way I can do this myself. I hope my local guitar tech is willing and able. Otherwise I'm not buying a multiscale until I can put DiMarzios in it.

Does this work with fishman fluences? I want the Javier reyes set but they don't come in a multi scale version

Unfortunately I don't think it would. This method will only work with passive pickups.

You usually have to have it routed for those, and up close, it can look a bit fugly if it wasnt already routed for square shape like that....Schecter actually has some really nice pick ups in their multiscale's out of the box

What if the original base plate is not metalic but plastic. What can i do with the ground wire?

That could be a problem. Did the original pickup not have a ground wire? You could try not connecting it, but you might have interference/noise issues.

@@ManBunMetalHead it has a ground wire but the side that leads to the base plate is not connected to anything, the other end is welded as a regular ground wire
