  • The time has again come to put all of our existing gear (and DIY knowledge) together to make something worthwhile!
I recently completed a so-called Wet/Dry/Wet Command Center project box, intending to combine it with my trusty TC Electronic TonePrint effects pedals with kill-dry option enabled, and the three biggest amplifiers I currently own, to come closer to an arena-class, pro-level rig.
Wet/Dry/Wet is a setup that separates your basic signal flow out to three amplifiers: a center "dry" amp that generates all of the clean and dirty tones, and a left and right stereo "wet" pair of amps that handle modulation and time-based effects exclusively.
While there are several benefits over the more common effects loop-based paradigm (i.e. clearer sounds, stronger 3D effect, little to no changes in tone due to FX loop use or shared power amp headroom), there are drawbacks as well, notably the gear needed to execute, added complexity to the signal chain, and grounding issues.
My Wet/Dry/Wet Command Center seeks to solve most of these issues and make the three-amp setup just a little more achievable, provided you already have the gear ready. Let me know if you think going W/D/W is worth the trouble, or if you've even tried it before yourself!
    Equipment:
*Ibanez RG7420 7-string Electric Guitar (I know the diagram indicated the Music Man, so sorry...)
*Leonard AP2 - DIY Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ clone amplifier head
    *Joyo 112V 1x12 Speaker Cabinet w/ Celestion Vintage 30
*Leonard AP2 Line Out to Wet/Dry/Wet Command Center input
*TC Electronic The Dreamscape Modulation effects pedal, kill dry mode on
*TC Electronic Flashback Delay effects pedal, kill dry mode on
*TC Electronic Hall of Fame Reverb effects pedal, kill dry mode on
*pedal stereo outputs summed passively and sent out to stereo output jacks
*Laney LC50-II vacuum tube amplifier (effects return)
*Marshall MG100DFX solid state amplifier (effects return)
*Truetone 1 Spot Power Supply powering pedals and WDWCC in daisy chain (non-isolated)

Could you share more info regarding your DIY command center? I'm thinking to try WDW with smaller solid state amps but couldn't afford the gears required.

Hi, thank you for watching! You'll need to tap signal from the line out of your center dry amp, plug that into a buffered splitter, whose outputs then go out to the effects units in kill-dry. If these effects also output in stereo, you will have to sum their outputs into a left and right channel, which you then plug into two wet amps.
What I did with my Command Center is put into one box the buffered splitter and passive summing circuits, adding to it a mute and input peak detector, but the basic circuit for the buffered splitter isn't exactly a secret, while passive summing is simply using 5-10k ohm resistors to passively mix down signals into a single (or stereo in our case) output.
Here's a splitter circuit by Jack Orman to get you started: www.muzique.com/lab/splitter.htm
