    This is an easy fix.
    1.) Get your own bank account and deposit your own money into it.
    2.) Buy your own food and let your husband eat ramen noodles.
    Problem fucking solved.

    20k is not a lot. But romen noodles for a month seems a bit drastic.

    • @odinsplaygrounds
      @odinsplaygrounds 5 лет назад +9

      Yeah... makes me wonder how she claims they make enough money if they want to spend the little savings they have? How many years did it take them to save up 20k? She said they have been married for 6 years. So that’s their savings after 6 years, even while being cheap... they have low salaries and that’s the problem. It’s easy to call the guy cheap, but I guess their economy doesn’t support a lot of luxury. That’s only 3,3k savings per year.

    • @odinsplaygrounds
      @odinsplaygrounds 5 лет назад +3

      Amp Blaster So them not having a lot of money has nothing to do with their low salary? And only people who don’t have enough money for medical emergencies are only because they spend money like idiots (unlike what the couple in question here). Yet people should be bitching about their low salary and also blame Trump? None of that makes sense and it sounds moronic. Besides, stop assuming everyone on RUclips is American. Or that everyone has low salaries.

    • @odinsplaygrounds
      @odinsplaygrounds 5 лет назад +4

      Amp Blaster So you should be bitching about your salary and Trump then as you said yourself? But also at the same time, it has nothing to do with salary. (That’s my point, why do you have to bitch about it if it also has nothing to do with salary?). And your wive’s PHD has absolutely no relevance to anything being discussed here. Don’t make yourself look like a fool for assuming someone who points out your own contradicting comments - in a discussion unrelated to education - somehow is pretending to have said education.

    • @The_Buff_Guy
      @The_Buff_Guy 8 лет назад +28

      +hoodrichmahfucka because usually cheap people are mean... Including this guy. He's being fukn mean to his wife whether he thinks he is or not.
      Also, you can tell a lot about a person by how they tip people in the service industry. Bigger tippers are usually much happier in life and are more content. Cheap mother fuckers that never tip or think 10% of the bill in "generous" are almost always miserable sacks of shit who treat others like shit and don't even realize it. This guy is one of those people. He's gonna end up miserable and alone one day because he thinks something trivial like money is the be all end all. You're gonna die one day, dude. Treat your fukn wife. Make her feel special. Because you can't take that 20 grand with you in the end' fukn moron.

      +Games'n' “n” Guitar who the fuck are you to tell people how when and where they use money ya dip shit ... you don't need 20 dollars to walk to a kitchen pick up a plate and walk 10 meters ... the chefs deserve it all

    • @The_Buff_Guy
      @The_Buff_Guy 8 лет назад

      Hockey Mind
      First of all, there's only 1 chef in the kitchen. The executive chef. The Sous chefs are their own thing, and they're really only a factor in high end restaurants. Then you have the cooks. Get your kitchen ranking system correct in your mind before you start calling other people a "dip shit".
      Also, I was clearly promoting tipping in the service industry. Which includes the kitchen staff. I absolutely agree that the kitchen deserves the most money from tips. But as of yet, the servers are getting paid $9 an hour and your average cook makes about $12-14 an hour. Plus the kitchen staff gets tipped out a percentage each night from the servers.
      All in all, my point was to tip in the service industry, period. Whether it be pizza guys, servers, cab drivers, bartenders, kitchen staff, etc. Fucking tip. I'm not telling people where they have to put their money, I'm just strongly trying to enforce proper community upbringing among people in society.

    • @BeeBumper
      @BeeBumper 6 лет назад +5

      Hell yeah, I was shocked at how much my ex changed when we lived together. It was a different person all together. Statistics mean shit if you live together you know if this is the one, many ignore that feeling of something is wrong and think it's okay. More often than not you get a clear picture of whether it's someone you can stand. If you grow and adapt to each other in necessary ways then it will be fine. For example my wife and I enjoy time alone. We give each other that time without complaint, or offense and understand it's just who we are sometimes. It has made our marriage strong, and we communicate really well.

      Yeah a lot of people understand that. But it's the god damn principle of it that is pissing people off. I'm married, and trust me, no one I know will purposely make their wife downgrade their DIET because they want to have $20,000 in the bank at all times. We, as husbands, sacrifice for our wives because they sacrifice for us. My wife doesn't even know what Jack in the Box is because I only take her to great restaurants. And guess what? I'll bring my lunch and not get coffee if I need to save money. I won't make my darling WIFE buy shitty noodles because I want my bank account to read $20,000, instead of $15,000.

    I think good advice to tell him is that life is not just about preparing for the future and never stopping to enjoy life. Yes, it's smart to invest in the future, but it's also smart and healthy to invest in your own happiness. Otherwise, what's the point of living if you're always unhappy? What's the point of being married to someone who doesn't care about your happiness?
    Tell him that you want to go out and enjoy life while still being financially responsible. Tell him that you are willing to start working full-time again. If you start working full-time again, you should be making more money than you'll be spending. That will allow you to afford to enjoy life, you should have extra money to put into savings so it will add to your wealth, AND that will ease your husband's anxiety about money and the future. But, tell him that if he wants you to start working full-time again to ease his mind, he has to get off his lazy ass and start helping with the fucking chores.
    I think this is better advice to take than to roofie him. lol XD

    • @waynejohnson1786
      @waynejohnson1786 6 лет назад +3

      jesslovesrammstein I don't want to make assumptions but maybe her husband couldn't care less if she works or not, maybe he's traditional and wants to work while she takes care of the house but she insists on working too. I don't think a man should have to work and also pick up half of the house work just because his wife is progressive.
      Anyway I wrote this while listening and the way the guy bitches about money despite the fact she brings in her own money makes me think I'm probably wrong. Sounds like one of these modern assholes who wants the best of both worlds, a traditional housewife that also pays half the rent lol life doesn't work like that.

    I'm going to add another point of view...I'm a frugal guy too. My wife grew up in a family where they spent every penny they ever had, it was genetic. When we were just starting out she completely messed up our finances and I had to take them over. What's worked for us is having an overall attitude of saving money. She has complete access to credit cards, checking account/debit cards and I make sure she always has cash too. I do this because it's not about control, it's about building our wealth. Before the grocery shopping, the ads are checked, a menu plan and shopping list are made. There isn't even a grocery budget because we just always keep an eye on the bottom line. The big thing is that we always cook every meal at home from scratch. It's the best food available and very inexpensive. My wife often tells me that since I cook so well at home it really is stupid to eat out. Recently I've looked at our finances and I've decided that it's time to start enjoying a few nights out per month at nice restaurants. My wife doesn't even think it's really necessary. The truth is, I can make a better dinner at home for $20 or less with enough leftovers for lunch the next day. As for other "treats" a few years ago The Oakridge Boys came to our area and I sent my wife, her mother and her aunt. They all had a wonderful time and to this day I still think it's some of the best money I've ever spent. Because my wife is happy with flowers from the grocery store, she gets them far more often than just her birthday, anniversary and Valentine's day (when she gets not a dozen roses but 18). For everything there are better and cheaper (or free) alternatives. Ultimately the best thing I've provided for her is financial security and freedom from money worries. With only $20,000 saved up, they're just beginning to save and have a long way to go.

    Come on people, everybody can see a good part in being cheap, but he is obviously taking it too far. Every woman deserves a treat once in a while. But, as I see it, these people don't have so much money, the 20 grand isn't that much, so maybe he worries a lot about the future. Nonetheless, he should get over his fears.

      bogdann85 that all depends, how long did it take them to put away that 20k? If it’s been 10+ years, they don’t have an income to support spending. If it took 2, he needs to loose the grip on the wallet.

  • @oingoboink
    @oingoboink 8 лет назад +4

    We need a little more information, but I'm going to guess that the 20k in savings to put down on a house. I'm also guessing they have children, otherwise why would she need to stay home. You don't need to P/T it just to keep the house clean. I can see her point though. And I've known people like that where it's all about the bottom line, although I don't think he's necessarily a bad guy.. She's just bored and frazzled by being cooped up at home all the time. I don't think they need to do $200 meals or anything, but the occasional date night wouldn't hurt. They do need to resolve it otherwise there will be a blow out. This unresolved stuff is why there's a 50% divorce rate.

    This dude is probably just a dick. My heart goes out to this woman. Money management is a joint endeavor and both parties must be on the same page. It sucks but you need to be a fucking team together, you can't just have one person making all the decisions and treating all expenditure with contempt.

  • @arpeggiomeister

    It is very easy to sit back and make judgments about how cheap this guy is without hearing the other side of the story. I don't have any stats but if I had to guess I would say that finance is probably the #1 killer of relationships.
    What this lady needs to do is sit down with her husband and try to find a reasonable compromise. She and her husband need to assess the situation and allocate money appropriately. Entertainment... ...aka having a life, is a very important part of that.
    How much income are they taking in?
    How much are they paying in bills and living expenses?
    After all their expenses are paid for the month how much is left over?
    Most people do not know the real answer to this last question. It is just too scary for them to look at. From what I heard these folks are doing okay and there is money left at the end of all of these expenses.
    If that is the case then they need to allocate that money for investments. Tony Robbins recommends 3 buckets: Security Bucket, Independence Bucket, Freedom Bucket. This is how wealth is built, but if they put everything they have into these 3 buckets without having any fun or any life they will give up on their dream. (I am assuming this guy is saving for retirement or something to that affect.) It is not sustainable or even sane... ...thus I recommend a 4th bucket. Call it the Fun Bucket, or the Blow it Bucket, etc. Put some money aside specifically to have some fun.
    One final note. From the description I hear this guy is gripped with fear about finance. This comes from an inadequate financial plan. The greatest irony is that the more money he gets the greater this fear will become. Put a couple million in this guy's hands and he will become paralyzed with fear. This is a problem that can not be addressed in a short little comment. It is a matter of financial education. In order for the relationship to work both people need to be on the same page with the same financial blueprint. If they are not then the relationship will tear itself apart. Either one person submits to the other's vision and is completely miserable (which is currently what is happening) or the misery becomes too much to bare and leads to epic fights and, more then likely, the end of the relationship. This couple needs to address this fear together. If they do not address it the consequences will be dire.

    I like how Bill's solution is either drug the guy or have an honest conversation with him but nothing in between haha.
    But I agree, I think the husband is taking it too far. If he's that worried about money, he should clean for himself so his wife can work. It sounds like this guy grew up being taught to be anxious about finances

    "We decided" Yeah right. It just magically works out that he has to work full time and you only work part time. That was not his idea sweetheart. SInce the "Housework" was the pretext for her not working a hard job, I'm sure it was not his idea. It's always easy to spend money that someone else earns. If she wants more money she can work and I am sure that is the way her husband sees it. You need to save for retirement and you need to be able to be unemployed for a year without having to dip into your retirement.

    The “no date nights” and “not being able to surprise him with concert tickets or other things etc. without asking him first” seems a bit extreme. But I mean after SIX years of being married, plus however long you were together before that, you have only 20k saved up between both of your salaries, maybe there is a reason to be cheap. I mean one moderate disaster will blow through 20k EASY, especially if you have a house or a nice car. Shit just not refilling the coolant on your car could destroy your entire engine and blow through that much on a new car.
    As much as I’d like to side with the woman, there seems to be some money problems here and if he was being so extremely cheap and still only being able to save 3k a year between two salaries, maybe he has a point. I mean if you guys weren’t as stringent you could easily end up spending an extra 2-3k every year on basic, forgettable things and then have absolutely no savings in the bank at the end of each year. The dude might have a bit of a point

    People are way to stuck up on the ramen when we do not have enough information. What we do know is that he has calculated his food expenses only IF they go beyond it will they start have to use extra money on cheap food(ramen) it might be tight or room for leeway we simply do not know. it also sounded like they didn't have kids which might also be a concern for this guy, from his perspective he is living a bit harsh/tight now so they can live more free once they gets kids. From the information that has been provided there isn't really something that he is doing badly when it comes to the finances.
    Instead of these childish advice asking for money or tell him to stop being so "greedy". It would be much better for you to understand why he is so worried about the finances so you can share his worries if you understand his point of view it will be easier to start a open discussion on where we can be less stingy. If you are both on the same page it will be easier for you to just use money when you see fit, instead of asking for money like a child or getting free range of money and using it without any responsibility.
    try to approach everything with perspective and not like the idiots, who latch onto anything that doesn't match their view.

    Date rape drug solution wouldn't work. This guy is already obsessed with his finances; it's not like he wouldn't notice the missing money. And even if she pretended not to have a clue, at some point he'd start seeing some kind of doctor to figure out why he keeps passing out and then he'd find out about the drugs.
    I know Bill was pretty much joking, but this is the first time I've seen one of his solutions be so demonstrably ineffective. Even his jokes are pretty much always spot on. Though, to be fair, he didn't have as much time to think about it here than he does when designing a comedy routine for a show.
