    9 years later and this video is still pertinent today in 2020. The noise in my 10 year old Whirlpool Cabio was a rattling-clicking sound that occurred during wash and spin cycles, mostly at their respective ends. I removed the inlet hose to the drain pump and found a penny there. It made contact with the impeller to create the rattling noises. I got right on it after my my wife asked "how old is that washer anyway?" Talk about incentive!!!

    Thanks for the great video. Repairman wanted $326 to replace the pump. Found it at Sears for $114 (had to replace it before I left on a business trip) and when I pulled the old one off, there was a quarter that fit perfectly in the intake to the pump. Removed the quarter, put it back together, will return the part tomorrow for a refund. Cost $35 diagnostic, saved $291.

    Well I did make .56 cents out of this deal...2 quarters a nickel and a penny in the drain pump catch! Thank you so much! The blowing continues for me in the outlet hose so next I will take off the inlet hose (where the water comes into the washer (on the back side of the drain pump) and check again for more coins. All the drains have been unclamped and checked but maybe I missed something on the inlet hose. Will let you know. Hey, for the record...I am widowed and retired on SS. Think I'm doing pretty good for an old broad!!! With the economy the way it is you are a blessing!

    I own a Whirlpool Carbio top loader washing machine model WTW6600SW2. The machine is over 5 years old, never a problem. Symptoms: My wife notice a metal sound during the drain and spin cycle, we thought coins in the tube. Later the washing machine would just humm at about 24 mins (Rinse and Spin cycle), then the lights would flash. You could reset the machine and restart the cycle, but finally it was time to repair. I removed the tube which is very very easy. Water in the bottom. If the water is not removed by the pump the washer sense a problem and will not allow the cycles to proceed. Visual observation two socks and $2.40 in change. Removed the white plastic pump cover no coin observed. Put the machine back together run a load of cloth, same problem. Next day removed the tube, drained the water, tip the machine forward and removed the drain pump. Inside the drain pump a nickel. The nickel had destroyed the plastic fins in the pump which remove the water. Ordered a new pump $60.00 two day delivery with Amazon prime. Installed the new pump no more problems. The design of the pump and drain is not the best. Check your cloths for changes.

    We're glad the video has been helpful for you. We're sorry you've had to use it so often! F32 refers to a long drain. This could be something blocking the water flow in the pump, but it also could be something in the hoses, so keep that in mind when you're investigating.

    F32 is a pressure switch error and F72 is a basket re-engagement error. I would recommend googling these error codes and finding more information on them. It looks like some people have had some success with simply taking the control panel off and disconnecting and reconnecting all of the wires.

    If it slipped and fell into the drain pump you will need to take the pump apart to get to the dime. If it fell into the hose simply detach the hose from the pump and get the dime out that way.

    The terminal in the connector can probably be replaced. You can try and get the old one out and strip the wire and put in a new terminal on then insert it in the connector. The other thing you could do is cut off the other wire and put new terminals on both wires and put them directly on the pump terminals. Insulated terminals would work the best or you will need to put some tape on the terminals so they will not touch together and short out.

  • @dazzz887

    Just wondering do I need to get the drain pump replacement? My issue is that in order to drain the water I need to move the drain hose and place it in a bucket (below the tub). The standpipe (drain hose) is above the washer, and I think it doesnt have enough force to drain out the water. Could something be stuck in the drain pump or hose that is causing it not to drain? Its a weird issue, cause there are times when it works fine and there are times where it doesnt.

      If the super glue holds and it is no longer leaking, it shouldn't be a problem. The pump will probably eventually need to be replaced though.

    My washer shows LD alot. I checked for obstruction in the hoses and nothing was there. When it starts to drain it sounds sort of like someone who doesn't know how to drive a manual transmission trying to get it to go in gear. Sometimes just a second, sometimes a few seconds before it "engages". I don't want to replace the motor if it's not the problem. Is there anything else that could be wrong as evidenced by the "hard to engage" sound?

    No diagnostic info? I'm curious about the pump bearings
    ----my washer doesnt drain all the way, the pump motor is good the water level sensor is good everything works and is good that I've tested, even the washer only thinks it's a slow drain, yet it all works until it gets halfway drained then it has a hard time pumping and I have to pump it into a bucket below the basket .
    Or maybe its clogged in between the baskets?
    ....but if I lower the hose the water will all spill out onit's own, except it sounds like there is still water trapped between the baskets, but it just cant come out, is there an easy way to clean in between the basket/tub?

    What component should I repair for a 5D error code?

    • @repairclinic
      @repairclinic  11 лет назад

      It is actually an SD error and it means the washer thinks there are suds in the tub. This could be from a faulty pressure switch or the washer isn't draining properly.

    Great video. Had an F51 & F33 code on my Oasis 110.27092602 and found the CCU lost communication (F33) with the drain pump. Figured the pump was bad since it had been making lots of noise for a few weeks. Ordered a new pump and installed. Ran the washer through a diagnostic cycle and when I got to step C07 (assuming the drain step), the agitator just pulses back and forth and the drain pump does not come on. Any idea what the issue is? There is only one code now that was in earlier as well and that is an F51 (RPS sensor failure). Will this error cause the drain pump not to come on? And if so is there a way I can make the drain pump come on to drain the washer? Many thanks!

    • @repairclinic
      @repairclinic  8 лет назад

      +weatherhound F51 is typically a bad sensor or even control board. That does not normally cause a drain error. If you lower the hose below the bottom of the tub water should drain out.

      John McCann We have taken another picture of the pump with the shield on it and added it to the website: www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Drain-Pump/W10536347/2392433 Basically this shield fits many different applications and does not fit the greatest in this one. The shield is to help keep water from splashing on the motor. Any way you can get it to fit and cover the motor will be fine. If you can't get it to fit, don't worry about it.

      I was able to fix it, in a bit of an unorthodox way. I used a small plastic garden hose and siphoned out the water out of the tub. When that was done I removed the pump and cleaned it. I replaced the pump and powered it on. I was still not able to run a cycle. I called a repairman over to inspect it, after about 5 minutes he said it was the control panel. The only reason I did not check the control panel was because it ran diagnostic tests thoroughly, but the only step was when the washer drained. It was the controller for the drain pump that had gotten fried. So I now have to replace the control panel. Thanks for the good videos!

Once started I blow air into the outlet drain to get the water to start draining. This may have to occur several times before I can complete a wash load. The drain pump has been cleaned and is clear. Why when I blow air into the drain hose does it start to work....where is the problem? Please help. Thanks Pam

    • @repairclinic
      @repairclinic  10 лет назад

      Pamela Swiss I would look at the pump again. You most likely have a coin stuck in the pump inlet tube that is sometimes restricting the water. When you blow on the drain hose the coin is turning and allowing the water to flow.

    RepairClinic.com, Inc. Please will you assist me. Getting an Ld code on the KEnmore Elite Oasis HE Automatic machine
    4/10/2015 the Sears repair guy came out and said it was the pump. He was going to charge my Mom $450.00 to repair it. Instead I changed out the pump and he charged her $79 for coming out and diagnosing the machine.
    The new pump I put in.... the machine started up just fine but didn't finish the cycle and I have another Ld code............. THOUGHTS? Pretty Please :)
    The old pump I took out where the connector is in the box was all black like it burned up and almost caught the machine on fire. I have not taken the new one out yet to look at the box...I'm exhausted taking out the first water pump. Had to bail out the water than clean all the water on the floor. Huge mess. Not once but twice. The machine is on its side now waiting for the second pump to be removed.
    Little history....
    The machine in a 6-12 month period had 3 water pumps replaced and fell under the lemon law. Sears refused to make good on this machine. They were not nice to my Mom and me and went so far as to threaten the both of us. Unbelievable.
    When I came to live with my Mom in 2007 the machine kept getting coins in the pump. The Sears repair man threatened my Mom while I was there telling her they can not keep coming out to take the change out of the pump. At that time I contacted the repair manager for Sears and he threatened me over the phone. Truly a shocking experience how they bully the elderly. She had a warranty on the machine till 2013/2014 and I told her not to keep it.
    I thought it interesting the repair guy that came out 4/10/2015 was the same man that threatened my Mom and was trying to push her to paying the $450.00 to repair the machine till I put him in check. Then he wanted to charge her almost $500 for a 1 year service plan. I told my Mom she could buy 3 washing machines better than that one. The repair guy said not like that. I told him that one is horrible. Doesn't get the clothes clean and the change issues we constantly have with it.
    While he was trying to push his year service warranty I inquired about the change going in the pump if this covered the cost to have someone come out and take the change out and/or replace the pump. He said it was covered till I reminded him how we were threatened over the change going in the pump and we kept calling them to have it taken out. I think he at that point remembered us and what he did to us.
    This is her machine information
    MOD 110.27082604
    SER CU1270396
    TYPE: 580
    There was a silent recall on the machine per this number 866-769-7260 but they refused to make good on replacing my Mom's machine and/or giving her the cash different to purchase a new one.
    Water Pump Part No. W10536347
    I am exhausted mentally and physically over this machine. Any assistance would truly be greatly appreciated!

      ***** LD stand for long drain. We would look for an obstruction is both the drain and circulation pumps and their associate hoses. If that's clear and you already replaced the drain pump than the control board could be bad or their is a bad wire in the harness.

    They won't let me try to take a look. They rather call the washer man to come to fix it. OH, well. Ok, fine by me.
