Really not the same as chat heads (message bubbles) on Android. The nice (or annoying, YMMV) part about Android's approach is they are on the unlocked home screen, reminding you to get back to it. Personally, if I see the notification, I will likely dismiss it and then may forget about the conversation. With Android, I'm less likely to forget later since it's on the home screen. Oh, and I'm back on Android (not due to this feature, though I did miss it) after about 2 years on iPhone.
