The bz4x was the car I really wanted to love, but with the poor range and poor DC charging speed and really bad efficiency, I just couldn't pull the trigger and buy one. I'm going to hold out for another year or two to see what Toyota will come out with. I'm hoping the range on their next few EV's will be much better.

I remember being so underwhelmed with this car when it was released. It took them so long to release their first fully electric car I was so sure they had something really brilliant for us all, I was positively excited! Sadly it just doesn't tick the range box. We're really hard to please aren't we!

Parents have one and were getting 425km when charged to 100 in the summer, I think it's 375km in the winter.

It actually does have both apple carplay ( wireless), and android auto ( wired) on that spec. But a good fair review. Maybe taxi drivers like it for longevity and build-quality? Haven't heard of door handle/ software issues?

Good review tbut two key items are missed. This is why i decided not to buy it.
    1. The steering wheel cuts off the bottom of the speed indicator at all positions. This is because the bz4x was designed to work with the fly by wire steering, know as the yoke, but this is yet to be approved.
    2. the left leg room. The plastic leg rest pushes into the left leg and it makes it very uncomfortable. You are basically driving with your left leg straight.

Thanks for the comment. I didn't find either points but we are all different

@@NevoEVReviewIreland Its unfortunate but i heard recently they added a heat pump and done some minor updates. Still its not 100%. Maybe the 2025 solid state battery versions will be better...

Which is the better of the two? The Toyota BZ4X or the Subaru Soltera. Personally I think the Subaru has the better nMe but it is a lot more expensive for basically the same car. So is it worth the extra over the Toyota?

if only Toyota would make a Corolla Hatchback EV
but they didn't so I switched to NISSAN and now love my LEAF more than any Toyota I ever had

Like the design, dislike the value and range. I also just dislike power tailgates, I don't understand why that's better than the gas struts

    • @NevoEVReviewIreland

Definitely a fad with the power tailgates

For people who don’t have much strength to close them? Closing a boot is really difficult if you are lacking in arm strength.

Toyota Motor Corp. said on Monday that power output data had been manipulated for 10 of its models sold globally.
Toyota Industries said Monday it fabricated data on the torque output of diesel engines it makes and supplies to Toyota, resulting in a partial halt of shipments of its cars.
An independent investigation has expanded to uncover "irregularities" in data for safety tests on 64 models, including 22 sold under the Toyota brand. It means Daihatsu, which first fessed up to rigged data in April and again in May, joins the massed ranks of shamed Japanese automakers discovered to have been concocting test data.
Daihatsu (TOYOTA OWNED) stopped all shipments at home and abroad last month due to safety test rigging. Hino motors (TOYOTA OWNED) admitted in March 2022 to submitting fraudulent emissions and fuel economy data to transport authorities.

Not a fan of the black cladding. Also the efficency is poor. At nearly 2ton it is heavy. Surprised taxis are going for it over others like ionic5 ev6 ans seal. Styling not to bad.
    Thanks Derek

Just too bland for my liking, to much black plastic on the outside and the driving range seems very poor. Much better cars out there for similar money 💰

No, the bz3 is the one that uses BYD batteries and motors. It performs much better, but it's also selling poorly because nobody wants to buy a re-badged BYD when they can get the real thing for cheaper.

This is a toy car. I am very sad to buy this car because its only problem is charging. First of all it takes long time to charge if 50% charged with level 3 it will take 2 hours 30 minutes. Then you have to keep the car at full stop which you have to suffer in extreme cold, heat. After that if you start the car and turn on the heat and AC then you can run the car for one hundred miles. So don't waste your time and money buying this car. Thank you😅😅😂

That interior is disgusting, as are the charging speed, range, and efficiency. It would have been better if Toyota had never gone into making EVs at all.
