Also, if I already have an AD/DA converter where its analog input does not have gain controls for mic usage, what would be your recommendation as a pure mic preamp for gain control in stationary use among your devices, if any? And given that your recording devices are largely battery-powered and for portable use, are there potential issues in having them plugged for extended periods of time, such as battery degradation?
The lowest noise preamp we have is Jasmine. That's pristine studio quality, but you'd need two of them. A cheaper option is to get the 2-channel MixerFace and yes, you can leave it plugged in.
