Trying Medium Format for the First Time // Mamiya RZ67

- Today, my friend CJ, a longtime digital photographer, is trying medium format film for the first time. Sharing the gift of film is life-giving because it only takes one roll to change a person's mind. I let him borrow the RZ67 with one roll of Portra 400, and the process + results were pretty impressive!

The best advice I can give to a new medium format shooter is to stop down more then you think you have to. F 8 on medium format is like F4 on a 35mm or digital camera. The shallow depth of field can be beautiful but it takes some getting used to it.
I got to mess around with medium format in school. I really loved it. This was the point where I knew I wanted to dive more into film. I had a lot of people tell me why would I waste money shooting film. My answer to them, I just like it. Something special about it to me. I like the process of having to take your time and knowing that I can actually miss a shot.
Anyways, another great video Chris! I really like how you allowed CJ to get more practice with the film since he just got started with it. I see you helping feed the passion many of us have!
Sharing the gift of film + photography is so fun and rewarding, man! Medium Format is so nice + more people need to experience it
this video is so well structured! interesting way to show the facetime conversation with two cams and the photos revealed.
Great video. He crushed it!
He did REALLY well for his first time around!
I love that freaking camera so much! It’s kinda expensive but definitely worth every dollar.
have cj look into a mamiya 645. love that little beast. 15 shots too.
and not as heavy lol
it's so funny that you say that because he just got the Pentax 67, the heaviest option for 6x7 HAHA
@@whoschrischu bought it for the slap didn't he
I went with the Pentax 645, Mamiya gets all the attention so the Pentax was cheaper.
Good stuff. Outside world looks interesting, might have to check it out sometime
OH HELL YEAH
Dope vid. Subbed and damn I miss the city!
this is so inspiring guys
Awesome video! Which lab did you use for developing and scanning? Thank you!
Love your tone
e46 m3 though 4:20
gravy
Chris Chu huge fan of you bro 🔥
Anyone know what chucks the first girl had? The multi color one
What lens did you use?
Really great video btw !!!
65mm f/4!
What lab do you get your film developed at?
I'm stuck between the RB or the RZ which do you prefer?
I highly recommend the RB67. I only got the RZ cuz I got a "steal-of-the-century" price
@@whoschrischu i was leaning towards the RB anyway so imma pull the plug and get it i think. Thanks for the insight!
carl jhonson from asia??? o ma g
Find photographers probably get ripped over time
part bicep / forearm workout FOR SURE
369th view
my favorite 369th viewer! You're almost at the 1 year mark with me! Commented on all my videos, bro. Mad love
@@whoschrischu wow you're good. Legit love the work you're doing and all of the fire vids are blessing me. Keep going!
