He absolutely loves to hear himself talk. No way he calls a 38 minute monologe a "masterclass"

Mischa Maisky must think "Where is Jacqueline du Pré?" (I'm joking of course. Well performance from this student. But still........)

Sounds terribly. It's certainly not the musician's fault but the composition is just awful.

I think shostakovich's compositions are meant to convey pain and struggle so they sound grotesque and violent.

The good artist is not the one who makes everyone like his music, but the one who manages to transmit what is desired to a large majority, the style does not have to be liked by everyone.

@@el998d5 Do you think the large majority desires to hear that new music? I don't know anyone but my Cello teacher.

Of course you are being sarcastic about Dmitri Shostakovich based on Mischa's comments. I'm not a particular fan of Shostakovich any way. But, about Shuman Concert, a total different story, one of my favorites as Mischa's also said. I wish, Maisky had more time to teach this kid rather than talk so much (and don't get me wrong Mischa Maisky is my favorite cellists of these days). But I think he helped very little, if any thing,m to this student whom I agree, did every thing wring. He was even struggling and did horrible with the spiccato.
