i guess the sauce called Sambal Petis, which made from fish or shrimp sweet paste and it's good to be mixed with some deep fried snacks just like Mendoan. *yummy

Thats “tempe goreng tepung” not a “mendoan” because both are different, but its okay since Most of Indonesian doesnt know their different as well.
Mendoan is kind a half-fried tempe since “mendo” means “half-fried” from banyumas language. It has different seasoning as well.
You can going to Purwokerto to taste it. Mendoan have better taste when eat in warm, with sambal kecap, lontong and drink black coffee.

I agree with Bu Julie, a bite of a spoonful nasi goreng plus tomato slice is best.
And I have an improvement idea.Why don't they put some traditional gaming equipment somewhere near dining tables like congklak or bola bekel so that the guess can play it while waiting for the ordered food to come..
Heru Sumarli maybe not bola bekel (people might get to competitive lol) but congkak would be AWESOME
yeah, bola bekel will do , but who says that congklak won't make people get competitive? if the race for the seeds is on its peak, the players might get competitive and heated too LoL,
and I think there's more chance for cheating in playing congklak ... (a hint: hide one of that tiny seed in between your fingers as such in one turn, so you can drop it in another turn when you "need" it hahahahaha )

pak martin coba jalan2 ke pantai utara jawa.. ke Kudus, Jepara, pati, Rembang. Disana banyak masakn khas yg enak2.. kalau dari Yogyakarta mungkin 7 jam.

mr. Martin that isn't joglo, that is balai/bale/balen, joglo is acronym for anjog loro means dual roof. traditional home from mid and east java. first roof is balai or gazebo for parlor or hall, and the second roof is the main house. so basically javanese only receive guest outside their house and not to inside.

I know you are so right about the toilettes in Indonesia thou, the toilettes are not number one priority, it is very sad. I hate it every time i come back home to Indonesia, i have to survive the toilette situation. Here in Sweden everywhere is new and hygienic even the public toilettes.

if you were having extra time, try to go to boyolali regency close to yogyakarta, eat sambel tumpang or in other name sambel lethok (boyolalis signature cuisine) and feels the explosion inside your mouth

It's just an ordinary gorengan tempe. The real one (from Banyumas, Jawa Tengah) is big and not crispy like that. "Mendo" means half-cooked. If you wanna taste real mendoan, try Mendoan Maning, Jl. Colombo (in front of Gor UNY). The taste just so close to original recipe. Have a nice day 😊
