- In this video, we show you the easiest way to pull stumps with a compact tractor. There are many different tree removal techniques and I think we have found a great one. We have a 35hp tractor and found an easy way to remove stumps with it. If you remove the stump with the tree still attached to it it is much easier to get the stump pulled.

Martin, it is part of the track control system of a crawler. A small dozer. It contains or is part of the track tightener too.
My wife gave me a hard time about that same saw for our off grid build, but after 6 months it's working like a champ, and nice and lightweight
The homestead is looking amazing keep up the good work guys.
Very educational video. So many do not understand the importance of cutting down trees and keeping a healthy forrest.
I've been watching farmers clear land. There is a way to have controlled burn without flames. I've found it quite interesting. Piles way higher then what you have here; that burned-out weeks later. Days of rains piles still burned with no flames. There is is no sign of there ever being a burn pile. Just cleared land . It was very cool to watch an learn. These techniques were taught to folks as far back as the 1900s
That certainly looks like an adjuster for a track equipment, maybe a bulldozer or some logging equipment
Your forest find looks like a track tensioner for an old dozer of long ago logging. ould raise a few bucks at the scrap yard.
I agree off an old bulldozer or track loader.
I Love how you two work together.
Great job. Well done and great conservation of forest
So happy you explained the way to manage a forest, More people need to learn this. Have a awesome day.
If you want your house to have the best chance to survive a forest fire, help the fire teams, help you! Absolutely correct about the need to thin and trim!!
Your mystery iron is part of a tensioner for a tracked vehicle.
It probably broke and when the new one arrived, they just tossed the old one into the bushes.
Correct
Seth, set the wheelbarrow handles down on the ground. Then sit in the wheelbarrow, the other direction.
I agree Cutting the little brush bushes down give the trees more sunshine and healthy makes the yard very pretty enjoy your weekend GOD BLESS
Good job guys. You have made it look so much better as well as making the forests safer and healthier.
The item you found with the rollers and big spring is a portion of a track frame for a small cat dozer or a track loader. They might have some value to the right person.
I really like the way you did the forest soroundings looks so much better
Track frame off of a bulldozer. The spring tensions the track and the rollers are what the track runs on the bottom.
That large peace of steel looks like a track frame from an old bulldozer.
The Dewalt cordless chainsaw ran away with the best cordless chainsaw in Project Farms Best cordless chainsaw video.
That thing you found in the woods looks like the trolly from a skyline for skidding logs, the rollers ride on the skyline and gets pulled up and down on it and had cables that were used as chores
yep.
That looks fantastic.
The areas that you opened up look like good spots for hammocks when you have the time to rest.
The part you found is from a dozer or tracked type tractor, it is part of the under carriage / front idler tensioner. the front idler is mounted in a yoke that fits into that part with the hole in it and the springs keep the tracks tight. the rollers on the bottom roll on the inside links of the track. You might find the rest of the machine! Scrap value for what its worth.
I like to leave a lot of brush piles for wildlife but there is something satisfying about cleaning up and burning.
I love my 37 HP tractor and grapple ! They work great.
Love that Branson tractor. I just picked up a Branson myself back in March. Pretty cool seeing what you guys are doing and here I thought I was cool being a city boy moving from the city to the country lol.
Awedome you took my advise and bought the graffles for your tractor
The tractor is a big help for heavy work 💪💪👍
Even farmers call that thing a "Boat Anchor"... It used to be part of the machinery they used to clear the land years ago.
It is a tensioner for a tracked type equipment, perhaps a bulldozer, but more likely a tracked log yarder.
every one of your videos makes me want to move to Idaho! I love your forest! When we bought our place down in South Texas early 2021, I submitted a contract immediately upon the first viewing. It was the large number of oak trees covering the property. Unfortunately, nature is doing its own thinning by taking a large number of our trees with "Oak Wilt". I'm unable to find any cure for it, so i'm going to just have to backfill with other types of trees, mostly i'll go with a wide range of cold hardy, drought resistant fruit trees. But, I sure would love to have a few acres of pine trees! Great job and great family team! God Bless and keep you safe!!
looks like part of the track suspension from a old dozer
The frame you found is a track frame from a small bulldozer/crawler tractor
Nice t-shirt keep up the beautiful videos
The thing that you found is part of a bulldozer suspension. The rollers is what the tracts run on and the springs keep the tracts tight.
The metal thing you found is probably the front idler frame for some type of tracked piece of equipment.
I
It is part of an old bulldozer roller frame. The front idler frame to be exact.
That was my thought. Looked like a sprung track tensioner
You are exactly right! That is part of an undercarriage track frame.😀
That iron you found is a track roller frame for a Dozer
Ibu Julie stole the show and she is rocking , Pak Martin.. Regards from Jogja
Lower track tensioner off of a dozer or some other logging equipment.
The mystery object found in the woods looks like part of an overhead suspension system.
I was thinking the same thing. Used to remove logs.
Yup same thing I thought, like ropeway part.
it is part of an older bulldozer track frame or steel tracked driven machine. The springs are what keeps the tension so the track stays on the frame and doesn't come off when turning. Have fun!
Your part is off of a old international crawler dozer the track rollers and the track tensioner springs I am 100% positive on that
You are you guys are right it is for logging it is to Hall cable it pulls the cable that's wrapped around a log it runs from trees to a machine that allows it to drag the cable drag the tree limbs up hills
The metal thing you found is part of a tracked vehicle. Three rollers, and the forked part us where the big roller wheel would go. Probably off a small bulldozer or excavator.
Thank you for talking about this stuff. The city I grew up in (years ago) had a beautiful forested 5 acre park downtown and the state came in to thin it. Well, a bunch of eco people threw a fit so the state backed off. A few years later 2/3rds of the forest got sick and died. WIthin 5 years about 25% of the trees remain. The dead trees started falling down and taking out healthy ones, buildings next to the area, and in one case a car where it fell into the road. It can be counter intuitive for forestry management is so important, especially when you live out there by yourselves without a fire department around the corner.
Looks like a track tensioner of a old crawler tractor
I'm glad you made this video people don't think about fires
The large metal object you found appears to be the track adjustment and tension springs from an early, (1930's thru 50s) Caterpillar D series bulldozer. Check out the RUclips channel of Squatch253 who is at this time is restoring a D2 Caterpillar bulldozer with track adjusters just like what you found. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us all. May God be with you and guide you.
You guys put in some work! Good job! Looks great.
Having worked with the American Red Cross on wildfires, I know most states offer a wildfire assessment of your property and will help you develop a wildfire plan(including escape routes). Also wondering if you called the local wildfire to let them know you were doing a controlled burn(Don't want someone reporting smoke and a alarm goes out) this early in the year they might offer to help you so they can train up their teams? Win Win
that piece you found in the forest looks like part of a track assembly for a dozer or other tracked unit
That part you found is part of a track tension system from a bulldozeror excavator type machine most likely
Hi Mr & Mrs Johnson, weekend greetings from Jamaica 🇯🇲🇯🇲. Nice to have another interesting and informative video 📸📸
Hello from South Florida. Consider pulling that fence out to the driveway. Lay flat then roll it up. EZ Pea-zy. Good control on the burn pile. Looks great. No idea what that gizmo would be used for. Looks like $50 at scrap metal site.
good suggestions
When they are able to clone people I want a Jules, nothing she can't or won't do.
What you found is a track rail for a bulldozer, it's missing a lot of parts, might be usable for someone that repairs dozers
The mystery piece of machinery is a track tensioner/adjuster for a tracked vehicle such as a dozer or track loader.
Martin, you may or may not know this, but forests or wooded areas flourish with 60 basal area. Looks like you are on your way sir.
That big metal thing you found in the woods seems like a crawler dozer/tractor carriage side tie /tensioner or at least a part of it.. =) Hope it helps. Good work, the property is becoming a luxury resort..
I suffer from tractor envy... 😳 so jealous!
Haha! Us too! 😂
Is it possible to clear enough brush to help prevent a forest fire spreading to your buildings. Stay safe cheers.
i think what you have found is part of a dozer the think its call the idler gear that keeps the track tight
I like the safety sandals. 😂
You're really doing great 👍 👏 👌 work to keep the wildfires away from your hard work of building your forever home!!! It was definitely a good lesson for ppl to listen to why the thinning especially after seeing all those saplings packed in there. It was truly a happy 😊 day 💓 💛 for the chicken family to get out & range . I was curious if you had plans for a chipper to use for mulch, chicken coup and even if thick enough for the pathway area btwn the rows in your garden for less weeding??? It's always nice to follow your channel for information, inspiration and so much more!!!!
Its the bottom rail off a piece track equipment. Maybe a dozer or a log loader.
That’s a track frame and tensioning springs for some kind of tracked vehicle.
Would it not be worth it to purchase a chipper so you would have chips and mulch to use around the homestead?
The steel piece you found is the track tensioner from a dozer or other tracked machine. Never know what you will find . Last year my brother got into some loggers cable with his big discbine. He was not pleased. Luckily the damage was minimal compared to what it could have been.
Keep up the good work ,I wish you and you wife to be together forever you guys are amazing
It is the track tensioner for a crawler type tractor.
The thing yall found in the woods looks like a track tensioner for a dozer or tracked vehicle
I have my craftsman for 8 years just bought a GreenWorks a year ago love it keep the chain sharpen getting too old for the pulling part also have a battery Lawn Mower. just keeping up
My guess on your find is a track tensioner/ adjuster to a old dozer
you found part of the track system for an old Caterpillar crawler.
Looks like some type of skyline attachment for dragging trees up and down mountains
You two have such a beautiful existence. I wish I could live with you guys. xx
You found part of the track roller frame for a small bulldozer.
I cried when you threw that piece of old wood form the chicken yard on the fire. That would have made a beautiful piece of art. I guess you can tell I like gnarly wood.
The mystery object can be a new mailbox post.
Wow your cleaning day really going great. That's quite a contrast to what that place used to bee 💯💯💯👍👍👍
You have a wonderful good son and a helpful wife great children 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️
HOWdy Johnsons,
Tractor WORK
COOP
...
Did you ever figure out the object it was in the woods you found what was it
It looks like an adjuster for a track machine
that iron is a rail and idler wheels for the tracks on a old bulldozer.
Having a tractor around definitely makes life easier. Your yard looks so nice where you have cleaned it up. keep up the good work. :)
It looks like a part of a tracked vehicle, something that guides / adjusts the tension on t eh track.
Hi Martin & family. Hope you save the ashes they are good for so many things.
I ENJOY YOUR MUSIC FOR SURE !.
Looks like a piece of a dozer track? The tensioning part?
Nice shirt Marty!
How do you like your Branson tractor, and what size is it?
Nice job y'all 👍
My dad told us about how they used to burn the underbrush where he grew up in Kentucky. They also ran hogs and cattle which also helped keep the yearly growth down. He said many parts of the woods were almost like a park, open with the lower limbs all cut and green grass growing between the trees which helped with the cattle and hogs. Also few snakes and fewer ticks. Maybe a little like Eden where Adam and Eve were told to dress and keep.
Dozer tract adjustment
Looks like an overhead line jack Forestry LUMBERJACKS would employ this devise to haul logs out of a cut line. It would be pulled by overhead cable with and attached cable to fallen logs to be pull out and loaded on log trucks.
Hi Martin you didn’t tell us about the water laboratory results thanks again
Phenomenal job.
