I look forward to your detailed water treatment video. We can use this even in Hawaii being 2500 miles away from our nearest source of help. With Aloha...
Red Poppy Ranch in Idaho runs their well pump off of solar and or generator into a total of 5000 gallons of water tanks in an almost buried bunker/building to protect that water from freezing. Then that water gravity feeds into the house. It may seem overkill but living in an island community, I think he's got it right. Mahalo for showing us what you do.
My grandma used a hand dug well 4’ across 85’ deep with 🧱 bricks from the bottom to the top. Also this was done around 1890. The couple who built it were said to be in their 60’s years aged. So things can be done ✅
I noticed your chickens next to your well. Here in Ontario, Canada you can’t have livestock or chickens closer than 100ft. from your well. This can be a major cause of well contamination from there feces. Love your videos.
in simple terms, you boil water in a container that is sealed with only a tube (generally copper) coming out of it. as the steam goes up through the tube it cools off and becomes water again and is forced out the other end by the pressure and collected in a clean container. when the water turns to steam it leaves behind all the contaminates because they don't go up with the steam. if you have ever seen a "moonshine" set up it is the same thing.
Thats some helpful information to chew on, or ...😂😅 The well on your property is probably standard depth for your area, i doubted the hand pump at first installation, but now im a believer. Love what ya'll are doing ❤
Nice video Marty, yes do another on distillation process. You can also install a solar pump setup from rps only uses panels, no batteries for storage..which brings the cost down.
Here in Brazil are water is in tanks. I have a 3000 liter tank which is on a hill but most houses it is located in the roof line or on a small tower higher than the house. Water goes out you have at least the size of your tank until it runs out.
Thank you for this excellent information. So important for all of the crazy things we're going through these days. Love your videos and your cheerful attitudes in bringing us info that will help us to be better prepared. Keep smiling 😃
Your pump is freeze-proof, but the garden hose isn't. I have a very similar arrangement to yours, and it works fine above freezing. But it would be nice to know how to make it work in February when it's 0 degrees F.
I guess me and my wife are “prepers”. We have 25 year food packs, canned food thru the roof and a water well that the level is 10 feet. I have several ways to get the water out, so food and water are not a problem. Now, the AC? There’s a problem
Thats one of the problems here in Nc since hurricane Helene. No power to run wells, public water is down in lots of places. Roads washed out so it is hard to get bottled water to people that need it. Some people are even using mules and horses to get supplies to people where they can't get an helicopter into. It is bad in NC and eastern Tennessee.
If I wanted a redundant pump in my well, it would not be a hand pump. I would simply put another submersible electric pump and get a generator to provide off grid power for the pump. A mechanical hand powered pump can fail just like an electric pump and probably is not as reliable. However I already have a generator and off grid solar system. It would be a good Idea to get a replacement spare pump in case mine fails but I do not want to deal with two pumps in my well should one fail.
There is a device that you can make water from Air. There is another one that also makes power and when it is not being used to make power you can make air from water with it also. For all your drinking water you can use a Berkey to filter your drinking water after you boil it. 🙏🕊️🥀🌹🌻🌼☕💜❤️👍
If they want ur minerals in the ground they have ways to get it. The last assessment was in 2019 according to the USGS. There is a lot of minerals in Idaho. If they need it for national security 💁
I need to learn to distill water. I have a 10 acre spread in the NV desert with an artesian well that is supposed contaminated with arsenic. I have an under sink RO system I have yet to hook up but I haven't worried about it because I am hauling drinking water in. That's okay for now until its not ok..I need a back-up plan. Water distillation maybe the only way to go..
Distilled water is best. If you fall for the lies that it needs minerals in it, you can stack Limestone + River rocks, and then use a solar powered pump to run the water over those rocks in a loop. Spring water like nature but no animals using the bathroom in it anywhere.
What you say it can be a problem with out water and power. Here in South Africa where I live it is a common thing to be with out power and water, so we are used to it
RPS solar provides a very nice solar water pump. I installed on this year for my orchard and garden this year. It works so perfectly. Their customer service was very nice too. They are an American company too.
I have trained myself to go nearly a week without food or water, barring extreme heat. The best solution is to not need it. Or live near a huge massive river. Storage will always run out.
@@MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving We just went through HUrricane Beryl. Direct hit. 9 days no power. We very well prepared for extended loss of utilities. After Hurricane I and 15 days no power we truly embraced prepping for extended issues. 800 lbs of dry staples, some freeze dried but mostly rice, beans, flour salt, baking goods and seasonings. We use 6 gallon buckets with a sealed liner and gamma sealed lids.
@@stuartrinker That's perpetual motion, and it doesn't work. If you're talking about a RAM pump, that isn't a siphon. It works by the power of flowing water from a nearby stream, and I don't think the Johnson's have a nearby stream.

Marty puts out some really good content, but you never know when he's going to sneak in a 12 minute or longer infomercial. The super expensive so-called _solar wind generator_. Those are near painful to watch. I'd glad for them that I guess these Sponsors _give_ these to them. PT Barnum was right!

Distilling can evaporate the volatile organics with the water and re-condense with the water.
I’ll show our neighbor this video. They have a deep well; ours is shallow and can easy get to it.

yes sir.
Will it create a siphon for continuous flow?
I think, the end would have to be lower than the beginning.
In other words, NO! Siphons only work by gravity, and if your water source is below the ground, a siphon won't work.
