    King is amazing. I grew up in New Berlin down the road from these guys. When I blew out one of the heads on my 2007 Type-S back in 2013, I gave it to them as their first ever J35 engine build project. I was able to spend time in the shop with Chad and Tim and see first-hand how amazing they are at what they do. It cost me about $17k for the build but the end result was amazing. The tuning is no joke. Tim is a master with honda tuning. I'm glad to see them being represented on this channel. They are a good, honest shop. What you do is astonishing, and this video is no exception. Explaing the mechanical details in a manner that a regular would understand and a mechanical engineering student would take notes. The wording and vocabs used in the driving part are percice and very accurate that it gives you a firm idea on what is it like to drive a car you've never sat in before. That old guy has been separating young guys from their money for 30+ years. He knows all the right things to say. (“Buy a used R and then spend thousands on it with us.” “The next R might be electric.”) Mark and Jack have to make nice but a) the springs are too harsh to be usable on the street; and b) that $5k exhaust doesn’t really make power but it will turn your freeway commute into a torture chamber. From what I’m seeing on the track is less than impressive performance, and yet the track is the only thing this car is meant for.

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo 3 года назад

      @@johntechwriter You don't think the car is impressive on the track? It seemed very capable to me. Mugen products have never been value for money, but they do spend on the R&D. Copy cats often come along and make cut-priced copies of their parts, so Mugen parts must be somewhat well-engineered... For example, the Mugen DC5 intake I had, had the smooth mould side on the inside of the airbox. While you'd think it's obvious that the smooth side should be on the inside (like a Grand Prix car intake tract for instance), the Gruppe M DC5 intake I had begged to differ -- that one had the smooth side on the outside and the coarse side of the FRP on the inside! [I didn't spend thousands on either though, they were both used.]

    • @thepassionofthegoose5472
      @thepassionofthegoose5472 2 года назад

      @@johntechwriter I've know about King Motorsports since literally the late 80's when the shop I worked for was getting Mugen suspension bits for the first generation CRX Si they used for autocross/track events. Personally I keep all my motors stock (Californian) and get silly with suspension and brakes, so expensive exhausts from any manufacture never enter into my tuning equation. Cheers.

      I love the spoon parts as well, I only have their springs and rigid collars so far. Spoon lowering springs would have been better for this car. I have spoon springs on my Type R and they. I think they improve performance without a punishing ride quality because the spring rate is not all that high. Of course they won't put Spoon springs on a Mugen car though LOL.

    I’m just… sort of disappointed with Mugen in that they addressed almost none of the real problems with the 10th gen type R. Besides the hood, no products were made to address cooling. No real transmission upgrades. Since they didn’t make a real coilover upgrade, they also decided to not make any camber or toe arms for stock suspension setups with springs.
