- Soundgarden - Switch Opens
"Down on the Upside" 21/06/1996
Hey you slaves go hang your owners
Draw your names among their ashes
Lay your children on their thrones
Gather 'round and fall right down
Here at sundown
Nothing is when everything all right
Switch opens
Opening around and let's the garden rise
Switch is on
Hey you patients where's your surgeon?
Left with your insides open
Left your hearts out on the table
Gather 'round and fall right down
Feel the air now
Stumbling and wander in the moonshine
Switch opens
Nothing is when everything is all right
Switch is on Видеоклипы
Ill never forget listening to this album on tape while walking to school And thinking this was one the best albums ever made! Truly some music will always be beyond timeless!
this is a great album
Just googled this song and album cause I've got the very same memory and conclusions about it...
same feeling
RIP Chris Cornell. Absolutely beautiful
another overlooked absolute gem from these guys. people don't write songs like this because they can't and because they don't have three other very unconventional songwriters in their band.
“ Unconventional songwriters”. Yes, that is so true. Their songs develop as the song goes along. It comes together as you listen. That’s so rare and such genius to do that.
rip Chris i miss you so much I can not believe you are gone. I related so much with all of your beautiful songs, may you rest in peace you beautiful soul.
I can not tell how much I appreciate the graces of Chris and Soundgarden.
What a beautiful configuration.
Hearing and feeling something is what being alive is all about.
I can't wait for something equally as good.
I have been waiting a long time. 😂
Whatever i write is not going to be good enough for Soundgarden. This album always did blows me away it's sheer perfection
I loved this album. What's not to love? It was just a straight forward rock n roll album and I still play It. I've got 2 copies. If it's a great album I always keep a backup
I have always loved the 'sum of all the parts' ethos and approach of Soundgarden when it came to shaping the songs and soundscape. Some of my fav songs by them are penned by Shepherd in particular and also Cameron and its great how they respected this and worked hard at keeping that space available for one another as song writers. It allowed them to progess their style and song writing in huge jumps between albums so that they didnt stay in one space or niche. Obviously Chris being such an incredible writer, singer and guitarist contributed a lot of their best songs but Cameron's song writing work on songs like Rooms a Thousand Years Wide, Mailman and Ben's writing on songs like Switch Opens, Taree, Zero Chance, Head Down etc are real highlights for me. I love earlier songs by Thayil too like Hands all Over, Get on the Snake etc. Great band, very much missed but importantly very much a good example to all bands as to how to create in the best way possible with every member really contributing.
1964 - FOREVER
Thank you!!!!!!... thats all I have
Always thought Chris was singing "Spread your song, spread your song, spread your song, spread your song".... but it's "switch is on." Now I know.
Scratch the sun....
