A few tips for anyone watching. The nipple on top you swapped from the old cannister to the new was tricky to remove. You need access to the inside where the 4 inner clips are. This means cracking open the small case with a flathead and hammer. Even then you need a second pair of hands to bend all 4 clips in at once and push it out. Removal of the metal clips from the old canister takes a small flathead inserted in the hole and pry up on the bent portion of the inner metal piece.
To give you some insight to longevity, i have a 2012 6.2 F250, 234k miles with minimal repairs, alternator, front end parts, shocks and as you could guess by the video im commenting on, charcoal canister....
@jeremy fixit Where does the other end of the vent tube at 9:20 in the video go? I just bought a 2010 and that tube is just looped over the front axel and it looks to have ripped or been cut off by the previous owner. Thanks in advance!
i have a 2020, f 250 4x4 6.2 motor thats shutting of the pump. dealer installed new charcoal canister. still shuts off the pump. they scratching their heads and say they never seen the new canister not work because its the updated one for the problem. i told them about all the videos on youtube. they acted like hell they never thought of that. i told them about the purge valve under the hood. pointed it out to them. they not sure they need to change it out. i told them to install an entire new system. gas tank, and every other part in the system including the harness system to it. its still under full warranty so i said its on the them. JMHO they just looked at me with the oh shit look. i told them i will post my thoughts about the problem and dealership on youtube. JMHO
Got a 2012 F-350 Dually RWD, big cab and bed, 6.2L Gas. Only 55Kmi. Is used as an emergency vehicle on race tracks. Need to figure out why it is complaining about the gas cap.
I can't get the blue connecter off. It's the one above the red one. Any tips? The red one was easy. Do you have to pull on the blue one or just push it in like the red one
How did you know that was the problem? What code was you getting with the check engine light? I have a code that came up P1450 which I changed the Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Purge Control Valve and the check engine light is still on.
@@Half_acre_farmer it seem like I have the same problem on my truck. That's the only problem. Runs fine with no problems it just throws 2 codes (p0451 and p1450)
I have the same issue, just no codes. I've been dealing with it for about 3 years. I turn the pump handle upside down and can typically get 2-15 gallons at a time. Sometimes it's 1 gallon at a time, haha.
@@Half_acre_farmer Did replacing the charcoal canister fix your refueling issue? I have a 2013 F250 with 200k, and can only put in about 1/2 gal at a time before the pump kicks off
@@Half_acre_farmer I will, there were dust "rocks" inside of the connector that fed directly back to the overflow line on the filler neck. I think all the lines need blown out. I'll update when I find a solution.
@@aaronharper2797 updates? Changed my canister and im still hung up as well. Any help is appreciated. Got an inspection next monday. Dont wanna reschedule.

Wish you showed when you took off the connectors, having a hard time taking it off
We had to compress the fittings on each side with needle nose grip pliers to pull those bastards off.

Clean up corrosion with baking soda and vinegar.

So, the environment in your area is Ford's fault.
This is a pretty common issue on 2011+ gas super duty's
Yes, because this is a Ford specific issue.
