Honestly, choosing which of James’s cars you’d want depends on what you’re going to be using the car for. If it’s just a fun toy for track days, I’d have one of the 911s. But if it’s a sporty, everyday driver it’s the Alpine every time. It’s relatively fuel efficient to operate daily, but still got the balance, speed, and power to make the commute fun.
@@Dipierox -- It appears that there are folk who don't know that the Alpine A110 is a brand new car. Sure the original Alpine A110 was built from, I believe, about 1963 to 1977, but this version has been sold since 2017.

At this point, I’m surprised James May doesn’t own a Subaru BRZ, Toyota GT86, or Honda Civic Type R. If I could have one of James May’s cars it’s definitely be this petrol Alpine A110
Currently being up in the snowy Highlands for some half-term skiing, and weighing up the merits of moving from traditional Audi Quattro, motorway/autobahn/route destroying V6 fast diesel, I think that some traditional (proper, James-style) reviewing of James’ latest electric additions to his garage is in order. Would be good to see how they compare on an ordinary, James/TG typethingymujig, road trip up to the Arctic Circle (and back, this bit always seems to get missed out)... and it HAS to be in WINTER, to test performance, economy, time taken (who’s quickest to Hell?), practicality (how easy are they to plug in at -100degs(only joking, -30 will do!)), how do the batteries cope with the cold... not a full-on Arctic expedition, just your normal road trip ooop North!
James' analogy of weight and weight distribution is so apt, no wonder he bought the Alpine. If I could have one of his cars- got to be the Alfa 164, just because of that beautiful Busso engine. Alpine comes a close second though.
It's a toss up between the 458 Special Needs (Clarkson called it that) and the Panda. Since we can get the Special Needs here, I'd have to say the Panda. The Panda is quintessential James May. It's practical, not pretentious, and can be a bit interesting when pushed near it's limits.
My mind says the Ferrari 458 Speciale, but my heart says the Alpine. I would honestly take the Alpine over any of them. There's just something about it.
Mike, if your reading this you should try an old Renault Alpine GTA V6 Turbo. I have one and they are just awesome. It maybe from 1988, but it will leave most modern sports cars standing, and like the new A110, the handling is just superb. They are Rear engined rather than mid, but the grip it just insane. Mine is tweaked a tiny bit to 220bhp and it would almost keep up with the new car.

actually, mid engines cars tend to have a rear bias regarding weight distribution, iirc. while a lot of front engined sports cars tend to be very close to 50/50 distribution.
True, especially when they have the gearbox on the rear axle like the C7 corvette or the r35. Having the weight spread out 50/50 but the actual bulk of the mass not at the center still affects handling though (two cans of paint at the ends of a ladder vs two cans in the middle, the one with the weight in the middle will be easier to move because the heavier parts have less momentum)
One of James' rules: No sex. Who needs sex when one gets to be near one of such awesome works of car tech. Tempted to use a lame pun but stranger things really have happened. Creepiness aside, metaphor desc regarding the handling nice.
Sound was not our friend on this one, don't worry folks, some new mics are in the post!
Auto subtitles say: "it is not everyday that you get to drive one of your loser in heroes car" lol
No worries; we can see how a web channel funded by 3 millionaires might have to scrimp on production values.
Sound and video quality most of the time inside the Alpine mate. It's annoying. Cheers.
no worries, you guys are the real deal :)

I love May's Rolls Royce Corniche. That episode on Top Gear was really special.
You spelled classed up Lincoln with a Chevrolet transmission and unreliable engine wrong.
HJ mulliner park ward edition

Yeah Jeremy and Richard really went off on him back in the day when James still had the 430. XD
The Apline A110 is such a pretty car, genuinely a modern car I'd love to own.
James has PTSD from when Clarkson borrowed his Ferrari 430
From when he ate a chocolate candy bar in it.
