You should listen to Paisa Spanish from Columbia. That accent is AMAZING! Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 Spanish is the best and I believe that paisa is number 2. It sounds fuego 🔥
I spent 6 years in the DR and I still struggle to understand them which is funny since I’ve been told by other non Dominican Spanish speakers that I have a Dominican accent.

From what I can recall from my grandparents “Quisqueya” is what the Taino of the DR called the island. Kind of like how many Puerto Ricans may refer to PR as Boriken.

I think this question now got me thinking, but i think i use it to say that I'm getting ready, like to go out, or something, sometimes. I would defer to the wisdom of Rocky though, and see what he says.
To me it means I'm getting the him ready, (done up and ready, getting him situated etc) so he can go to school. It does mean to fix etc too.
I thought it was the Puerto Ricans that were dropping the S words and changing the R to a L? I worked with the Puerto Rican guy who used to call me Brothel ever 5 min. It took me a week to figure out he was saying, Brother..

All dialects are equally correct and evolved as almost separate language. Not one dialect is better than the other one even if colonialism brainwashed you to believe this.

Thanks for repeating how it's 'supposed to be said' vs. what you actually say! But when you repeat how you actually pronounce it, can you go much more slowly? It's difficult to comprehend when you're repeating how Dominicans pronounce things if you're saying them just as fast as in the dialogue. Gracias.

Hey I got a question I don’t know where I should start learning Spanish am trying to learn it at work because it’s a lot of ppl At work that only speak Spanish should I learn the alphabet first i also have a book that translate Spanish into English so that way it’s much easier to read Spanish language
The best is to learn the alphabet once you learn tht you learn the correct pronunciation for the words then start with conversation, listen to podcast

You can easily learn Spanish from home, just watch some of my RUclips videos where I explain some of the methods to do that. Then from there you can consume more Spanish from other videos, podcasts, etc.
Kinda disappointing bc I'm going to santo domingo in about a month. I can't understand her very well at all since I have just been learning spanish on the side for a while now. I can understand your spanish and it sounds a lot clearer but when she talks and I dont read the subtitles i dont understand more than half of it. gg
