    If you've made soy milk before you know it involves hot liquid, unless you allow it to cool first, but then that takes more time! And don't you want to just be done with it and drink it?
    ☝Soyajoy G4
    geni.us/p5Kx (Amazon)
    i make a soy milk, tofu and other japanese soy dishes on a regular basis so i thought i'd give it a try. and it definitely saves some time. if you know you'll be making soy milk or other types of nut milk or pureed soups on a regular basis, this the soyajoy g4 might be worth looking into.

    there are some other soy milk maker brands available, but this one seemed to have the best reviews so that's why i chose it. though i've only had it a few months, i've used it enough that i'm happy with the soy milk it produces.
    watch the video to see what steps are removed in my homemade soy milk demo!

    How would you rate the "quality" of the soy milk made with the SoyaJoy G4?
    My question really is to answer if this G4 soy milk could be used to make yuba. Also, what is the ratio of beans to water you used in the video? 100g soybeans to 1.4L water?

    I just bought one of these a few weeks ago. I don't soak or skin the beans. I throw them in dry, a pinch of salt and 4 cups of water. turn it on walk away and come back when it beeps. it cooks them and everything in under half an hour. let it cool and them run them it through a nut bag. it tastes great even with no sweetener or flavor. we make vegan cheese with the okara and a ton of things with them milk. including cream and ice cream.

    I have the Soyajoy G4, 1.7-liter capacity. I always add the soaked soybeans to the machine FIRST and then add the water, in order to not go over the max line. Two things I learned from your video, is one: to use a nut bag. I have been using the strainer that comes with the machine and it's too small. Second: use a large Pyrex bowl instead of the plastic container they supply. It's nice of the company to add that to the entire kit for people who don't have a nut bag or an 8 cup Pyrex bowl. I've had my machine since 2015. I just made a vegan soup in it using the Porridge setting (30 minutes). It was delicious! It did get pureed smooth but I'm ok with that. This machine makes delicious soymilk. I use the enclosed measuring cup to measure out the soybean but double it to get rich-tasting soymilk.

    • @arthorim
      @arthorim 2 года назад +1

      There are different methods it depends of which one you can do. 1-You can try adding 2Tsp of rice in the machine,
      2-you can homogenize the milk using 1Tsp of neutral oil and soy or sunflower lecithin(quantity depending on the brand).
      3- after homogenize the milk thicken with gums like guar gum, xantam gum, etc. This is my favorite method I use xantham gum, but be careful it can end up looking like snots very easily.
      4- this method is more useful if you are drinking your milk flavored. Use instant pudding sugar free plus flavoring. For example chocolate pudding +caramel extract or, vanilla, or cinnamon, coconut.
      Remember: learn how to homogenize your nut milks and make sure use the exact quality of thickening gums.

    I live in Ecuador and soy milk and tofu are really expensive here. I purchased this same model soy milk maker, had a friend in the US bring it to me, and tried it for the first time yesterday. I used the entire bag of soybeans it came with, followed the directions, and the milk came out very watery, bitter, and beany, not at all like the soy milk I’ve made on the stovetop. When I have made it on the stovetop, I buy soybeans that are “sin cáscara” (“without shells”) and the beans that came with the machine still had the skins. Do the skins make the milk bitter or did I do something else wrong. I had to through this batch out,it was undrinkable. Help?

    • @alldayieatlikeashark
      @alldayieatlikeashark  4 года назад

      hi Kathleen. on de-skinning your beans, it doesn't matter because you can have the skin on or without the skin but on my opinion I prefer it without the skin. I usually soaked and remove the skin. I think the problem must be on the amount of water you use. I will recommend to use 4 cups of water to 2 cups of beans. I hope this will help.what ration do you usually use when you make your soymilk?

    • @kmsedwick
      @kmsedwick 4 года назад +1

      I usually buy soy beans that come “sin cáscara” (without skins) and used those on the second batch and used a larger amount, but still too watery and beany. When I used to make soy milk on the stovetop, it came out creamier and better tasting but it was a lot of work, so I bought this soy milk maker. I notice that the okara is not nearly as finely ground as when I do it in a blender. When I strain it through a nut milk bag straight out of the soy milk maker, the milk is more yellow and watery and the okara isn’t ground very fine. After three disappointing batches with this soy milk maker, I feeling like I wasted my money.

    • @alldayieatlikeashark
      @alldayieatlikeashark  4 года назад

      hello@@kmsedwick . there will be a difference when using a stove since you can adjust it and play on it manually. I would suggest that try to experiment more on the formulation of your soy bean to achieve the consistency that you want. maybe the brand of the soy bean you are using will makes a difference if you change it. I hope you can work this out. :)

      @susangoh6551 4 года назад

      Sharkes are Sexy. Not necessary- pro and con, the mesh part not so easy to clean, a lot of people don’t really clean it well and clog the filter. I make sure I scrub it good and didn’t have much problem. You can tell by looking at the components, if there just the blades then you will to manually strain it. There are other brand that still have this features. Personally I think this latest model is easier to clean, just toss the bag in the washer when done instead of scrubbing the strainer.

      Solution: Get a $35 immersion blender and a big pot. You can make soy milk manually on the the stove top and it only takes 15 minutes.

    I found a much better and easier way to make soy milk. Instead of boiling the soaked beans, I steam them for 10-15 minutes before I put them in the machine. It yields a very neutral-tasting soy milk with no bitterness at all. And there is no need to remove the skins, which I found made very little difference anyway. I then add a half teaspoon of salt and it’s perfect.

    • @JustJ0nathan
      @JustJ0nathan 5 лет назад +7

      all day i eat like a shark That is correct. Silk actually uses this method, and that was my favourite brand of soy milk. Also, if you want a creamier and slightly sweeter milk, add 1/2 cup dried soy beans (soaking them overnight of course and then steaming them). Then add a quarter cup of dried brown rice. There is no need to soak the rice before adding it to the machine. After straining, add a half teaspoon of salt and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. I also add a tiny bit of stevia extract to make it sugar-free. It’s incredibly delicious. Let me know how it turns out. :) This machine is amazing. I really love it. I use it at least twice a week.

    This comment is for the people that want some extra help for their plant based milks.
    There are different methods for thickening and changing the flavor of the milk. I have done all of them myself sometimes ending in disaster, but after mastering all of them the results were superb.
