Here are some tips for Soyabella. To get a less beanie milk add a pinch of salt to the water before cooking. Don’t let the Okara dry onto the surfaces. I do not open mine until the milk has cooled down to just warm. Then I tip out the milk and fill the jug with clean water and leave until last to clean. Immediately take the Okara out of the grinder and put the mesh pot into the holder cup and fill with clean cold water to soak a bit while you then scrub and clean the blade section. Then return to the mesh pot and use the toothbrush type cleaner with dish soap to scrub down all the outside sections and then do the inside. I then return to the jug, which after soaking cleans up easily. (Be careful of the edge. It’s very sharp). My last tip is - Sometimes, after the cooking process, the mesh pot is very stuck (with Okara) to the blade section. Before you start, if you rub a little cooking oil just around the edge of the blade section just before you twist on the mesh section it helps to stop that sticking
Great information. I loved that you showed the clean up and what needs to be done after you make the soy milk. Thanks.
Excellent video. I actually bought a miomat for my son for Christmas and just bought a soyabella for myself. Thanks for the Instantpot tip to develop a better taste. So glad I found your video. Thanks!
Thank you. This milk making series is so informative.
I'm so glad!
Very informative and helpful. Thanks Kathy!
Thank you Kathy. Very helpful.
I use a Soybella. I find the beany taste is less if I just delay taking out of the pot by about 10 minutes. I had worried that that much of a delay would make it harder to clean, but it did not seem to be a problem. I add the okara to my oatmeal, or smoothie.
Excellent video! Helped me understand what to expect with my soymilk maker I ordered so I can get started as sooooooon as it arrives. Thanks Kathy!
@@TraceyTruly Yay!
Thanks! This is so helpful. Would also love to see a review of the Chefwave Milkmade !
Thank you I have soya Bella. And was wondering about the other one. Great idea on instapot👍🏽 I am going to try that.
Excellent through video! I appreciated you showing the details from start to finish. Cleaning was eye opening and very helpful. I'll purchase the MioMat because I love all stainless steel. Does cooking the milk release more nutrients. I subscribed to your channel. Will go back and watch more. Thanks again! 🌹
Thank you for the great demo and tips! I was thrift shopping today and found a Soyabella. I wasn’t looking for it but there it was. It looks brand new even though it’s an older one. I’ve never used a milk maker before but I couldn’t pass it up for $10. I only use soy milk.
That's an amazing find!!
This was so helpful! Thank you!
I'm so glad!
I just received my Soyabella today and am in love!!! You can twist off the strainer without needing a potholder if you leave it in the collection cup and twist, the “+” sign grooves keep the bar at the bottom from moving so you can twist.
I didn’t find the cleaning to be a big deal either, just do it right after you’re done and don’t let it cake on there. The brush it comes with is great to run along the sieve walls.
To me the deal breaker is not having to strain. I didn’t find the texture of the soymilk had any grittiness that would make me need to strain it manually after it’s done.
Thanks for the tutorial. Seems unfortunate to me that the milk of both machines is best with additional cooking! Do you think that the machines would be better if they heated the milk longer?
I love my Soyabella-thanks for the IP ten-minute tip!
Yay! What other milks do you mak in yours?
I love the 10-minute instant pot technique.
I use my vitamix for almost everything else-love your recipe for oat milk, its perfect!
I felt like I was with a friend in her kitchen very very elaborate demonstration 👍🏽
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Excellent
Great tips!
Thank you!
What an awesome comparison. Trying to save for a Miomat. I just made my first batch using my vitamix, which I turned around and made yogurt in my instant pot - once it cooled to about 110F. A couple more hours to go and I’ll get to taste the result.
I hope it turned out great!
@@KathyHesterVeganRecipes It did! Now I just need to keep saving for a Miomat to make the process easier.
U can add okara to veggie patties sooo good
Hi Kathy ! So I would like to make yogurt and was wondering if the milk from the Soybella would make milk with enough protein to water ratio to make yogurt. Thanks !
It should, but you may need to use more soybeans than usual. I'm working on the ratios in the Miomat now.
I have a soyabella and have used it for almond & cashew milk. I've never tasted soy milk.
As a BIG birthday gift to myself I just ordered the Chefwave Milkmade machine. It's suppose to arrive in 4 days.
Do you have an opinion on the Chefwave ??
I have found that soy milk is the only non-dairy milk that works for yogurt. I've had multiple failures with nut milks.
Does a pinch of salt in the hot soy milk remove the beans taste ?
I have not used the ChefWave. I find cooking sou milk in the Instant Pot for about 10 minutes on high pressure helps with the taste.
@@KathyHesterVeganRecipes thank you for the tip. I'm thinking cooking in the IP, then let it cool down to correct temp. To add yogurt starter then set IP on yogurt setting and continue with yogurt plan 😊
Thank you for showing us the differences. If you had a Nutramilk milk machine and made the soy milk in it, could you just put the soy milk into a insta pot for the heat part?
This is the Nutramilk recipe, and I haven't done my initial cook in the IP, only the second cook.
You could give it a try, but I would make sure to do a natural pressure release so any foam doesn't make a mess.
@@KathyHesterVeganRecipes Thank you for responding. I bought the Nutramilk Milk a while back before seeing this video. Our favorite milk is soy milk so I am on the fence for the Miomat since the Nutramilk is pricey and just one more thing
@@lori17ful Honestly, I would use the Nutramilk and try heating in the IP or on the stove.
Hi Kathy, did you measure the soy beans before soaking? First time using it, I put 1 Miomat cup of soaked soy beans. The milk turned out very thin. Appreciate your thought.
I soak 1/2 cup soybeans, the rinse and add to Miomat. Then I fill water to max line. If it’s too thick for you, the adjust the amount down.
@@KathyHesterVeganRecipes thanks for your clarification. Will give it another try.
@@KathyHesterVeganRecipes tried again today. It turned out much creamier. Quite happy with the texture. However, the milk smells eggy. Homemade soy milk has sweet smell. Did your Miomat give a different smell when you first use it?
which is better a Nutr, NutraMilk compared to a commercial all-in-one Tefal Dynamix Cook High Speed Cooking Blender BL967?
I do not know the commercial one at all, but the Nutramilk is 10000% better than the Nutr for durability and motor.
The Bloodroot Collective has a recipe for breakfast patties they make from okara. They call it soysage.
Yum!
Hi Kathy! Have you tried processing the soaked soy beans in the almond cow and then cooked in the IP? I can’t decide between the soyabella and the almond cow. Heating feature is not relevant to me as I prefer cooking the milk in the IP…tastes so much better and is less messy. I like the almond cow as you can make more milk. I’m curious to how well it grinds the beans? Is the mesh in the Almond Cow the same as the Soyabella? Thanks so much for your time! 😊
I made oat milk only for 5 yrs in an instant pot blender. Never was it slimy! Including bo th rolled & oat groats.
I checked the transcript how long do you soak your soybeans if I over soak them they froth up like crazy
@@fsjeep611 I soak overnight. Which milk maker are you using?
Where do you purchase raw soybeans?
I get mine on Amazon: amzn.to/3ycEwGI
Thanks for this side by side comparison! Could you please also do one in the Arcmira? Also, which strainer do you use to strain the soymilk?
I have one in the queue with it and the Nutr!
@@KathyHesterVeganRecipes thank you Kathy, could you please share the link of the strainer you used to strain soymilk. I think mine isn’t fine enough.
@@swatigodkhindi9085 The one I bought last isn't being made, but this one is close: amzn.to/3SNB0vO
Or try one of these: amzn.to/41NPekm
@@KathyHesterVeganRecipes thank you 😊
Miomat model SB130. AlmondCow no heat :(.
This video was made with soaked soy beans. Unless specified, I always use high heat on the IP, not every model has a low heat option.
@@KathyHesterVeganRecipes I think the poster was alluding to the fact that beans expand when soaked. So, to clarify, you used 1/2 cup dry beans which may have been slightly more than 1/2 cup once soaked. Is that correct?
@@michelledobrowski8488 Yes. I measured out 1/2 cup dried beans and then soaked them. I did not remeasure after soaking.
Thanks, good info. Wilh all your experience with different makes is there one that has no plastic at all in contact with the milk?
You mentioned there is some plastic when cleaning the Miomat ruclips.net/video/7EOqrguLnYg/видео.html
& I see lots of plastic on the Soybella.
I see white around the glass top/window with the Nutr that is maybe plastic that touches the liquid? Or Silicone?
& the whole lid on the Arcmira looks plastic.
The only one I've seen so far with to plastic in contact is the Almond Cow or did I miss any? - & it doesn't make Soy milk. Maybe that's the way to go, just use nuts not bean for no plastic contact & easier clean up. Plmk you thoughts? Thanks. :)
The Miomat is all stainless where it comes into contact with the milk and it's my fav - you can see the parts here: miomat.co/?ref=6sBvSoTOZ_3nGh
