- Walking is a powerful exercise that can change your life. But, even a single short walk has great benefits. In this video, Dave talks about five research backed benefits of taking a single short walk.
If you're struggling to make fitness stick, you're invited to try the Walking is Fitness podcast. There's a new ten-minute episode every day that will help you for a fitness habit that lasts. And, to keep it fun, Dave records each episode while he's out walking too.

Walking is addictive. I walk every day in a park for 2 to 3 miles. I love it. It’s my way of saying thank you to god and enjoying his creation.
I also feel addicted to walking. I wonder if it's the endorphins that are addictive.
When I walk ( mostly every day) I talk to God.......today just going through the small park to the shop I saw another Christian ( not that many in my area) and had a good chat about the evil pagan Olympic ceremony.......
Throughout the COVID virus I walked every day under the larger trees in the park and got a good load of pure oxygen rather than listen to our corrupt government telling us to stay inside and die off!!
When I come back from a walk Im not the same person who walked out the door.
Yes. I have a park to walk in. 10 weeks ago I started could hardly walk a mile. Then 3 miles. Then 3-6 miles daily. Now 10 miles on the weekend. I’m a 63yo woman. 🧍♀️ walking 🚶♀️ is giving me strength. I thank God always for His creation and abundance.
@Mary, that is beautiful. 😊🙏🏻❤️
I walk each day for 15 minutes each hour for 4 hours I walk in the hall of my apartment building and I enjoy saying hi to my neighbours!
I can walk no matter what the weather is!
I am 83 and soo happy!
I love your commitment! What an inspiring joy you must be to your neighbors!
I wish you were in my apartment building!
I want to be like you!
When my dad was born
Drs said he wouldn’t live.
He ended up becoming a mail man
He walked about 3-4h a day for 35y.
Then he retired and walked 2h a day for
20y. He died at 84
What a great story!
@@WalkingisFitness His Dad probably outlived the doctor...love it.
🙏
My dad never walked anywhere. He's still alive and well at 86 and smokes every day. 84 proves nothing. But I hope he enjoyed every day.
It kinda does prove something when you were given a low life expectancy the moment you were born.@@PDZ1122
You NEVER come back from a walk in a bad mood!🙂
I mean never❤
I mean never ever. ❤❤
Never ever never come back from walking in a bad mood! NEVER!!
I’ve tried. It didn’t work
In the summer I finish a 2.5 mile walk before 7AM seven days a week. I'm a 68 year old guy feeling great and loving life. Walk!!!
2.5 miles is "kind of" further than you think.
I love your commitment!
Excellent 😊 I bet the rest of your day is much healthier and relaxed than if you hadn’t not simply physically but also emotionally
I’m 64 you inspire me
Yes! I do much the same! Love walking.
I am 73 years old. I started walking for 40-45mins every day since the beginning of 2007. Now I feel stronger than 30+ years ago.
I love your commitment to fitness!
Having to walk my Labradore every day has been invaluable for my mental health since the death of my husband.
I’m so sorry for the loss of your husband! I’ve heard from others who are grieving the death of a loved one and walking has also been helpful.
Absolutely. If I hadn't had a dog to walk after I left my 25-year marriage, I would still be sitting on the couch, depressed. Having to walk a dog changed my life.
WAY TO GO! Our 4 legged, hairy children add so much healing power to our lives. I too am windowed ~ And even if we don't take daily long walks, they give us a reason to move...we get up to let them in/out, feed them etc. They are always happy to be with us. What a blessing! 😊
I walk my son’s Labrador everyday while he’s at work, best thing ever . Sincere condolences to you for your loss.❤
I already write my COMENT but one thing I forgot to tell you: I am 89 years ( young! ) .Numbers do not scare me because I am healthy and 40 or more minutes walk every day make my day happy ! Happy walker ! 👍😂🇭🇷🇨🇦
You are so inspiring!!
I have never been an avid exerciser but for about 2 months I have been walking for 30 minutes daily in a 140 acre beautiful cemetery! Best thing I’ve ever done!
This is a great comment! Thanks for watching
Chris, I used to live near a beautiful old cemetery. I incorporated it into the route of my run. It was never lost on me day after day, that I am alive, vital and able to enjoy the use of my body. From time to time I would stop and read the tombstones that had lengthy inscriptions. The stories they contained focused me even further on the brief nature of our lives and how we should cherish it.
@@Vieweratlarge Exactly! This cemetery has a booklet with some of the highlights and stories. It’s fascinating! Some grave stones even have photos of the deceased. Makes it so real! And an extra bonus are the foxes that live in the cemetery! An interesting place for sure!
As a dog owner for most of my life, my mum “forced” us to walk the dog after school and mornings. I can testify that being a pet owner for decades has increased my health and happiness.
I love this comment! Thanks for watching
I love to walk! Meeting neighbors, thinking clearly, and breathing deeply are some of my favorite things.
Those are three great benefits of walking!
I once walked into a quiet wood in a melancholy state of mind. Passed a chap on the way in. Few hours later, came out feeling quite uplifted. Passed the same stranger coming out. Noticed him smile discreetly to himself - He knew
Awesome. I was smiling coming out of that comment
I walk 2.5 miles per day outside, every day, no matter the weather. I live in a rural area in California at higher altitude, so I get to see deer, coyote, horses, fox, wild turkeys, jackrabbits, and all kinds of birds. It's so peaceful. Of course, I bring my dog with me, and he loves it too. Not only is the exercise great for my physical health, it's fantastic to keep away depression!!
I love your commitment!
I walk in the morning for one (1) hour by the ocean. If I don’t walk, I don’t feel right. Walking works on many levels ✌🏻
I love your morning routine! Thanks for watching
@@jgee3369 absolutely I agree
The Ocean?! I’m so jealous 😭
Walking by the ocean every morning sounds like a little slice of heaven! Nature gives us such gifts!
I came by to say how I envy your scenery.......but someone beat me to it!
When I had my Jack Russell we had to get to the park early and then again later, after looking after my dear mother who was in her 90's...... Roaming through the park everyday was a joy getting to know the other dogs and the Local wildlife.......but it certainly would be a nice change to look at the ocean and breath in all that air!❤
My walk today, will make my 240th day in a row walking. When I started late November of last year, I’d made a goal to walk the full month of December. From there, I changed to 100 days. Then 1/2 a year, etc. During the first two months, I got sick twice. But I still bundled up and went for a short 10 minute walk on the first day I was sick. I found that I bounced right back, and could return to a longer walk the next day. After my body adjusted to the new level of activity, I haven’t been sick again! I had my annual check up last month as I’d turned 50. Not only is my BMI now in the normal range, my bloodwork was great. I aim for 45 minutes, but some days are 30 minutes. My family knows, even when there’s a lot going on, or we’re traveling, I need time for my walk. It’s a non-negotiable.
That’s just amazing results and proves you don’t have to do long lengthy walks to earn better health
It seems to be the regularity of it all…. You’ve certainly given me inspiration 👍🏻
What a great story of commitment and the benefits of walking! Thank you for sharing
Thanks for your encouraging example!!
Your comment is VERY inspirational. Thank you
But you shouldn't be sick at 50..
Quote "we tolerate in men shapes that would horrify us in a horse"....A very important video, thank you for posting. This reply is from an older person who was historically superfit, but at about age 75 I became very conscious of stooping and discovered very quickly that "the more you stoop the more you stoop" in short the road to evermore lower back pain, it had to be stopped...I found the answer to be "swaggering", feeling a little self-conscious at first but no one else noticed, easiest done in a brisk country walk style, the counter oscillation of the hips and shoulders will quickly strengthen the extensor muscles in your lower back, and very quickly within a very few weeks stooping becomes impossible. walking is vital. Try it :) John. Perth. Australia.
Great comment! Thank you for watching
In the late fall and winter, I walk at least 2 miles every day. During the summer, I'm active in other ways. I'm in my 60's and feel great. Walking has saved my sanity many times if I get spun out with overthinking! Thanks for the great video!
Thanks for watching!!
1. Moderate blood sugar levels (60 - 90 minutes after eating)
2. Refocus (walk in nature)
3. Increase your happiness
4. Increase confidence
5. Break up sitting
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the summary!
I've been a walker for 40 years. Here's a thing i "think" when I'm about to walk ... " I can retire for the day " after I walk... Don't have to do anything else If I choose. It's really helped me. " I can retire for the day "
I love this!!
I think this too. My only goal is walking.
OK... I just subscribed! I am 73, have been retired for 7 years I had joined a gym... loved it.. but winter rains came and it was dangerous to drive . So I stopped, but never went back. My problem is I have gotten obsessed watching u tube videos and hours go by and I am still sitting at the kitchen counter on my laptop!!!!! I need an intervention!!!!!! I live alone... so it would be on the honor system. I wish I lived with someone to push or motivate me. . I am hoping your videos will inspire me to just start!!!!!!!
Er staan veel video’s op YT voor indoor walking voor senioren. Misschien zet het je aan om ook buiten te gaan wandelen. Succes 🚶♀️➡️🌺
Get a dog! A great incentive to walk evry day.
You’re not alone with the struggle to get started. It’s hard for most of us. Begin with a small goal…somewhere between one and ten minutes a day. Pick a set time so you can build a habit and create a routine.
You can do in-place walking while watching RUclips! Just start small and keep increasing your pace and duration.
@@WalkingisFitness thanks for taking the time and the inspiration
I walk every day for excerise. Your idea to break up the day from sitting too long and go for a walk is a great reminder. Thank you.
Thank you for watching
I am 71 and walk 6 miles every day before 7:15 AM. My weight is stable and I can eat whatever I want.
I love your commitment!
Get yourself a exercise bike you can exercise while watching tv.😅😅
I'm 68, retired 2 months ago. I started walking before seeing these videos, and feel better. I am at 4000 steps a day, and aiming for 5000. I really look forward to getting out and about. I can feel the benefits both mentally and physically. Thanks for the encouragement.
I love your gradual increase. Great comment. Thank you for watching
Keep at it! Well done! Soon you'll be posting that you're doing 5,000 then 6,000.
Andy from Bangkok Thailand, I just found this clip of yours accidentally and have just tried your 12 minutes short walk. Right after the walk it was so..so.. incredible that during my shower I just felt the happy vibration moving from my head down to toe that my stress & anxiety totally vanished.
So I will try short 12- minutes walk everyday from now on.
Thank you and thank god for this.
Thanks for posting your comment inspiring many of us 😊
Awesome! Thank you for watching!
I also recently started walking. As of now, i'm doing about 25 miles per week. I also go first thing in the morning. I leave technology at home. It is the time i am able to hear my thoughts and feelings, clarify issues that are bothering me. Soon into the walk, i feel rejuvenation. When i come home, i feel SO much better.
Love this!
Exactly! Consciously walking for 15 years. Last 10 years measured - about 10,000 steps a day, and start the day with a 20 minute walk at sunrise. When I was working I took walk breaks from my desk every 30 to 45 minutes. Conscious walking has made a huge difference, mentally and physically, and can't imagine what my health would be now at 70 yo without it.
Great comment! Thanks but watching
I enjoy walking in the rain. ❤
So do I. Ironically, I’m sitting on my porch answering your comment as it’s raining. Very peaceful
I am in the middle of a program of walking for 30 minutes for 30 days.
I have type 2 diabetes and my numbers are leveling out at a high average.
Because I have a bad ticker and weak legs, I can only walk about 5 minutes before I need a rest. But when I started, I could barely make 3 minutes before collapsing.
My goal is that when I'm at a park and a ranger says: "There's a terrific view about 15 minutes up this trail." I don't look at him like he's mad. I just go up the trail.
I love your commitment and long term goal! Thanks for watching
You rock. That is a great way of looking at things. Good luck to you in your endeavors 😊🤗
proud of you man!!... you've almost doubled your time before rest!... keep up the progress... its those baby steps that make a marathon!
Well done!
That’s great news!!
A particularly important message for prevention of metabolic syndrome, cancers and improving the mood.
Thank you for watching!
I can concur wholeheartedly that walking is the best & easiest exercise for seniors citizens, it has been a stress reliever & problem solver, not to mention it keeps me from becoming an old geezer, great advice❤😊 walk on!!
Thank you for watching!
I walk 3km every morning because my husband likes to walk to the village to buy a newspaper so I walk with him, and later in the afternoon I walk again while he cycles 20km. It’s winter here, mostly sunny and cold. We are fit, healthy, slim 69 y/o and 74 y/o. 🇦🇺
I love this!
Long walks with no technology is where the rubber really meets the road. Leave your phone at home and you’ll be amazed at how different the walk is. You won’t be able to count your steps but you can choose a long route and it doesn’t matter!
I would strongly advise you to bring your phone with you in case of an emergency. 👍
@@ClaireQuinn566 have some balls and use your intuition 😉
I also love undistracted walks!
@@CT-pv9gu Don’t be so rude. As a 75 year old female I judge that taking my mobile on my daily walk is sensible in the sad times we live in.
NO - FOR SAFETY ... DON'T leave your phone at home. Have it fully charged & take it with you!
I have a neurological condition that strongly limits my mobility but I got a dog and walk 1 /2 daily in the park near me. I use a Walker. I believe this has changed my ability to cope as well as strengthening my body, introducing me to many beautiful people and the wonderful animals that keep them fit also. I knew no one when I became ill as I was in a cilty I had not lived in as an adult but now I have many connections with outlets for socialising. My dog and walking him at about half a mile an hour like a snail keeps me sane
I admire your strength!
@@WalkingisFitness Thank you. Really though I just thought I had no option. When discharged from hospital to an apartment on my own ,only able to walk about 8-10 steps with excruciating pain and all the other issues from spinal cord injuries ,after 2 months I looked for a pup for company and to get me moving. Rest is history . I hope you are well .
My father loved to walk ,he was a binge drinker (alcoholic) and smoked since he was 8 year's old, when he wasn't binging on alcohol he would walk every day, he lived until he was 72, he had emphisima from around 60 years of age but kept walking, myself and my mother believe if he wasn't a walker he would have died in his mid sixties, so walking gave him an extra 7 or 8 years of life. He died of liver failure and cancer combined.
Thanks for watching and sharing your dad’s story
I’m an ex-chain smoking musician, who has replaced set break ciggies with a set break stroll, and man, it makes such a difference to my gigs! Love your work mate!

Been sick with “covid”, haven’t walked in 13 days. Back at i today. Just not hills and heavy like I do. But I just HAD to walk in the pasture today!! I love it so much! I felt
Like no matter how bad I feel, I walk would be the cure, it was!!
Glad to hear you’re on the road to recovery!
Hi Dave! I'm currently in the middle of a long email to you, but just wanted to comment here today as well. I found you back in March. I have left you a comment a few months ago on the podcast about your Williamsburg, VA episodes. I just want to say if anyone is watching or just finding your RUclips channel and Podcast, you have found pure gold! I can't even tell you here how much this walking podcast has helped me (I'll save that for the email lol) - but for those just finding Dave, continue following along and take that 10 minute walk with him everyday. It is the best thing you will do for yourself and your family. Thank you Dave, see you tomorrow!

Stumbled across this video by accident earlier today and subscribed right away. I haven't been walking, but tonight an hour after dinner I took a walk out in our very rural setting here in the North Portuguese mountains where I now live. Day one! Planning to do the same tomorrow. Thanks for the encouragement. Will keep you posted.

No update ? 🤔
I used to try to get in 3 miles. I’m getting about half mile? and I’m happy with that. The dogs are doing well with it. It’s a weird place that they can go off leash and visit a river but the cattle guard stops longer walk. Sometimes I drive up past the set of cattle guards and go over a mile…..or stop on the way home at second place I know for walking near a river if it calls to me. Sometimes it’s out the door around the neighborhood depending my mood to keep my dogs closer by me. Sometimes I take just one dog ( instead of 3). I had to walk alone when I did 3 miles most the time. I’m gonna probably die of broken heart disease and this walking is really helpful that just a little is great.
Thanks for watching
We don’t need to walk outside, although we should for all the good reasons, a 10-15 minute walk around the house is also beneficial, when we walk with a purpose. I walk for 20 mins around the house after each meal, plus outside. This means nearly 3 miles everyday.
I estimate about a third of all my steps have been purposeful inside steps. I love this about walking…it can be so flexible!
Yes to all! I have been a work-from-home software developer (programmer for hire) for 38.5 years as of Jan 2024 when I completed my final programming contract. I will be 69 in a few weeks. I was fortunate to always walk as well as having a somewhat flexible schedule and living for most of those years on semi-rural/rural property, i.e nature walks from my front door. And, I have had a dog most of those years meaning that getting outside is necessary no matter the weather. I live in Northwest Montana and have rain gear, snow gear (I snowshoe in Winter) and we are out and about 5-7 times daily. The walks are as necessary for me as for my dog(s) for most of the reasons you mentioned and I can vouch for the problem solving benefit. My experience is that letting go of active thinking about an issue (work or otherwise) allows my thoughts to get off the "hamster wheel" and order themselves differently often giving me an a-ha moment. You have probably mentioned the phrase in a podcast ... this is the first I've listened to, but "Solvitur Ambulando" - "It is solved by walking". Cheers for promoting walking!!
What a great comment! I had fun imaging walking where you live…even though I’ve never been to Montana. Sounds beautiful! Thank you for your kind words…and, yes, I have done episodes about that Latin phrase, which I love!!
Walking after meals I did for quite a while. My brother shared a video with me saying doing this lowered blood glucose twice as effectively as metformin. I walked and walked and walked. I lost a lot of weight. This the best time of my life.
Great comment! Thanks for watching
Thank you so much for this video. And for the reminder for everyone to walk! I love walking too and have been walking for many years, but lately due to my back pain, I walk only on days that my back allows me to walk. But I have noticed that in the beginning when I start walking my back is more stiff, then a few mins later as I continue walking, my back adjusts itself and pains less and my walk is more smoother. I had a fall in my kitchen after which my back pain started. Thanks again for this video.😊
Check your shoe support is the best and use a light aluminium hiking pole adjusted to the recommended height. These two thing have allowed me to walk without pain even though I have a chronic torn labrum in one hip.
Thank you!
This is great advice! When I turned 40 my doctor told me to start exercising. I said, I don't like to exercise. He replied, just go for a walk. Walk the neighborhood. Walk in the park near your house. As a result of that I tend to walk about 25-30 miles per week. Sometimes on the streets, sometimes in a park nearby. It really has improved my life. I haven't lost a ton of weight, but I generally feel a lot better about life and myself.
I love the benefits you’re enjoying because of walking
We and by that I mean my three golden retriever dogs (age 11 1/2 y, 9 y, & 19 m) and I go for a walk of 2 to 5 km, depending on weather at least twice a day. I first noticed that my dogs were much more calm and relaxed throughout the day when I stuck to this routine, they listened better, behaved in a more calm fashion and just were so much better to be around. I also felt I was in a better mood all day. So we have been doing this for approximately ten years now.
I love your commitment and the benefits you and your dogs are getting! Thanks for watching
After walking close to 2 months every day, i noticed my feet are feeling so much better than usual. They are much more flexible. I discovered" barefoot" or minimal shoes, and i'm using them. In fact, after wearing arch supports since age 12 (now 59), i'm in the mide of gradually not using them anymore! Never thought it would be possible.
Awesome! Thanks for watching
I make a point of taking a 15 minute walk twice a day around my neighborhood. I call it my don't-get-any-fatter walk. It definitely helps and it gets me away from my screens, which I really need to do.
Love this comment. Thanks for watching
A brisk short walk ..is therapeutic , positive step forward👍👍❤️🇱🇰
Yes!!
You really are inspiring. I do a 12-15 minute walk most evenings, thanks to you. And really does lift the mood.😊
Thank you for watching and for your kind words!
It is true! I walk about 20k steps per day & my depression has improved so much! I suffered from multiple versions of depression. One being clinical depression from degenerative disc disease & post laminectomy syndrome. I’m 2 months post op from spinal surgery, my 3rd in the past 3 years. The latest being an intrathecal pain pump implant that has given me some of my life back! I’m 6’1 & 330 pounds from being sedentary for the past 6 years, so I’m looking forward to all the benefits from endurance walking. I know you’re speaking of short walks, but I have other issues I’m trying to tackle as well; high blood pressure & high cholesterol as well. Can’t wait to get better! Thanks for the content!

Thank you for watching!
I am a senior citizen living in an apartment and walking is my favourite form of exercise + relaxation. Last year my walking companion Sunny (my yellow labrador) passed away. Lot of my neighbours were surprised when I opted for a golden retriever (Tara). Some even made pointed references to my age and said a smaller dog would be more appropriate. But retrievers (both lab and golden) are my favourites and excellent walking companions. So I have a perfect excuse for going out for a short walk every 2-3 hours during the day.
Inspiring!
I walked too and from work 3.5 miles each way for two and half years, the first few months were great but then I found not only was I not getting any fitter I was actually getting less fit and had joint problems . The body always adjusts to the workload and demands you increase the effort of slip backwards . Muscles are damaged during exercise and in theory rebuild back stronger, yet repetitive use never gives the body time to replenish and rebuild . Now I mix up exercise , weights , cycling , walking, yoga with periods of rest . No single exercise in isolation will get you fit
I love your commitment to fitness and your intentional approach

Hi, Dave, thank you for sharing, wish you a great day, too! I admit: this is a weak point… if I don’t 'feel' like walking or haven’t 'enough' time, I think: TOMORROW… I'll walk a really long way… what’s the use of some minutes walking… blah blah. And guess what: sometimes this tomorrow never comes or it comes with other distractions. I’ll work on my 'shorts'! Thank you for the reminder. It’s so much easier to say to others (or think about saying), that walking is fitness and that they really should do something…. I’ll talk to myself instead😁. Love, Monika❣
I’m guilty of this too…pushing simmering I don’t want to do into tomorrows to do list. Thing is, I still won’t feel like doing it. Ugh. So hard sometimes. Thanks for watching!
I second all of your points. I'm known as "the walker", usually clock 7-9 miles/day virtually EVERY day and have for the past 14 years or so. In one of my mid-level managerial jobs, the morning meeting was about 1/2 mile from my office. They provided me a golf cart but I always walked no matter how busy things were and quite often a problem I was given at morning meeting was mentally solved byt he time I got to my office. I'm proud to say I inspired others to walk, too!
I love your commitment and inspiration for others!
Thank you for making us aware the importance of walking. 70 I walked every day since the age of 20s . In our country Philippines everyone rides a car . Likewise I take the car every day . Walking is addicting once you start you can not stop. It will make the body craving to walk
The more you walk, the more you want to walk. This has been my story! Thanks for watching!
Dave you're a walking example of good health.
Thank you!! That means a lot…
Actually, EMDR is a talk therapy based on the idea that bilateral stimulation helps in the processing of mental/emotional issues. She was out walking when she stumbled upon the idea. 😉
Thank you for putting this out there. ❤
I did not know that. Thank you!
Amen and amen ‼️ In January, 2024, my bride and I decided to go to the gym. We realized that muscle is the organ of longevity. We are in our mid 70s and we go 3 x a week. We end our workout with a 1 mile walk on the treadmill. In between, we do walk often after our dinner meal. We are soooo fit that we feel we are blessed. Please keep up the encouragement. I would also highly suggest to eat clean, quality food and minimize alcohol and soda/sugar😊
Great comment! Thanks for encouraging the rest of us!

Hi, Dave! First of all, I have to day say I love you name….i have a son named Paul and another named Dave. Guess you can say I’m a bit biased😅. I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and started listening to your podcast while I walk most mornings . I’m a 71 year old woman, and recently became legally blind. Even though I have a white cane I haven’t felt safe walking on our rural road with narrow and uneven shoulders. I was using that as an excuse to only do indoor walking videos. Since I’ve started listening to your podcast I decided to just walk in our driveway and yard, back and forth for ten minutes. I have to tell you, I’m feeling so much stronger in my legs and hips since I started the outdoor walking! Even though I had been consistent with the indoor workouts before, this has added a great benefit to me. Thank you and bless you.
What an inspiration you are! Thank you for sharing your story!
Excellent clip. I must use my treadmill to do my walking. I just began it not too long ago and I'm feeling better and have lost weight without changing what I eat. I actually watch RUclips while I treadmill because I have to watch something that is long enough to get at least a half hour walk in each day and at a moderate pace. I'm 70 years old and a late stage cancer survivor for 20 years so far.
Thank you for sharing your encouraging story!
I am a walking addict as well, been walking 3-5 miles a day for a few years (I set 1-2 miles as the basic minimum every day). I've been working seasonal jobs in/near national parks for a few years as well, and one of the perks is getting to walk/hike in some amazing locations in nature. This year at the Grand Canyon, I walked the South Rim Trail quite a bit, and the network of trails through Grand Canyon Village on my weekends. I could also get away on a quiet forest trail on my lunch breaks and after work sometimes. Love walking and don't feel right unless I get in my steps! Lol...New sub here. Great topic and channel! 👍
Love this! Thanks for watching
For anyone who is Type 2 diabetic or advised that they are pre-diabetic it’s simple. Cut out the carbs, sugar and ultra processed ‘food’. Walking is beneficial but diet is life changing.
so true...I cut back a lot on sweets, soda, juices....and carbs....doing much better
Thank you for watching
If you cut out good carbs you cut out the energy your body needs to repair itself. Bioenergetics.
@@HCW2855HCW your body needs protein to repair itself, never heard of an essential carbohydrate.
@@HCW2855HCWI think Daisy meant "bad" carbs. Sugar, flour, etc. Carbs from veggies and fruits/berries are not the same. Getting back to eating whole, cooked at home, foods as opposed to the prepackaged stuff you toss in the oven or microwave, that have a list of unpronounceable ingredients as long as your arm.
Great reminder on walking which I love to do ‘ I think most people underestimate the great benefits of walking ‘ and all the points that you have made are absolutely correct
Thank you for watching and for your encouraging words
We evolved to walk. Jogging impacts the bones detrimentally. I have met young runners who have to get knee replacements then go out and do it again. I think that is more to do with the adrenaline rush.
Every form of exercise has some risks…even walking. My goal is to find an activity I love and stick with it as long as I’m able. Walking is so sustainable!
Runners also get AFib.
I saw a video a year ago, I think, where a Dr. Thought he was doing a good thing running, but found out he was actually harming himself!

I’ve heard positive things about this
I walk every day at least 40 minutes. If for some RESON I miss walking I actually have filling of guilt towards my body! I do not need anyone walking with me ! I am enjoying nature ! Any company disturbing this wonderful time ! Thank you for this video! Hello from B.C. Canada 👍😂🇭🇷🇨🇦
Love this
Fantastic information presented in a motivational manner. Thank you.
Thank you!!
This is very helpful to try and think of ways to 'rethink' the idea of not having enough time to walk! Sometimes even just standing instead of sitting seems to change things a bit say on a telephone call at work for example
I do the same thing!! I prefer taking calls standing or even walking. Thanks for watching
Thank you for the video. I started loving walking because of your videos.
That you for watching and for your kind words!
You are so encouraging. I’ve been following you for about a month now and every video has inspired me to get out there. Thank you!!
Thank you for watching and for your kind words!
keep up the good work, dave
Thank you for watching!
I love walking but it becomes unpleasant in the build up in the tropics. So I learnt to swim at the local pool.
Mainly I want to say what a wonderful , caring idea of yours this is. I prefer to walk with natural sound but your voice would be most encouraging and enjoyable. HaPpY Sunday here in Darwin Australia. Kristina
What an encouraging comment. Thank you for your kind words Kristina…
Thanks Dave.....during the summer I swim 40-45 minutes early in AM. I've been doing about 3K steps after dinner and another 3K in the late evening. I have changed from my longer walks during the rest of the year. I think its all good. Appreciate your channel....thanks for taking us along.
Thank you!
How nice... Walking makes me feel like I'm alive. In winter it is difficult to go outside to walk. About 10 days ago I managed to do it and what I found at 70 meters: a lot of noise and debris + workers making a route....yuck...They cut off all my momentum and I got very frustrated. With what it cost me to mentally prepare and go out, having to go back...
Anyway, thanks for renewing the motivation. Greetings!
In the dead of winter, when it’s not good for either or my dog or I to walk, I’ll take him to a big box store like Petsmart. I’ll walk him round and round in there. At least we get to walk in safety and warmth
that way.
Thank you!
Thank you for the content!. Very inspiring.
Thank you for watching!!
I love you! You are so positive and encouraging. Yes, I need to walk for my health. Thanks.
Thanks for watching Kathy!
Thank you so much. Really helps.
Thank you!
100% agree with you. I also walk when my car is in for an oil change. I also walk the mall while my wife is shopping; easily getting an hour walk in.
Yes! There are opportunities for walks all around us. Thanks for watching!
I typically walk 2.5, 3 miles every morning. I also do water aerobics and kayak once a week. I’m 73 and in the best shape of my life. So grateful for my health…even though many body parts hurt! 😊
I love your commitment to fitness and staying active!
Just found you and have added your podcast to my list! I'm already a lover of walking and am looking forward to your optimistic style :)
Thank you!!
I'm going for a walk ! Feeling better already ! 😊
Awesome!
I have LOTS of excuses! I really like hiking in nature over varied terrain instead of on pavement in my own subdivision. There's lots of loose dogs around my house. I'm in the rain forest so its always raining etc. Etc. But I know how much better I feel when I get outdoors for any type of exercise and walking is the easiest, cheapest thing to do.
Yeah, getting started can be hard when it doesn’t feel enjoyable. I love how you’re focused on the benefits for motivation. Thanks for watching!
Wonderful. Thank you BIG TIME 😊
Thank you!
Thankyou walking always makes you feel better no matter what ❤
How sweet! Thank you!!
New to the channel…love it already! ❤
Thank you for your kind words!
I love walking. I walk daily usually early in the morning for about 30 mins. It does make a difference in numerous ways.

First I went walking, then I left a comment. You are completely right and very inspirational.🎉
This is so great! Thanks for watching
I have arthritis in my toes. Thanks for this video because I no longer can walk the long distances, and it's good to know short walks help too!
I’m so sorry for the pain you have. I admire your strength to keep moving forward!
