Trust Shaw to be gracious with his competitors. No trash talk, no putting anyone down. A true athlete and a true gentleman.
I hate mcgregor
SlySy Similar to John Brzenk of Armwrestling!!
You should hear him talk shit in a private setting though. LOL I go to SuperTraining and have met Brian a few times and he has some great shit talking stories
@Jacob Dillon if I want to continue to be allowed to go to the gym I'm not at liberty to give details! I'll just say Brian has a way more competitive spirit then he let's on here
Brian is the definition of a gentle giant
Love brian, 4 time world's strongest man, all the time worlds nicest guy
Nice beard
@TheSwoleBroscientist yea we can never assume that hes good just by checking him on tv or yt. But tbh something tells mw he aint a bad person.
@TheSwoleBroscientist: It's true, none of us know Shaw personally, but sometimes you make reasonable assumptions about a person based on the way they are presenting themselves. For example: Based on the fact that you needlessly attacked Conor Laithe for a harmless statement, I assume that you are a rude and agressive dick. ;)
@TheSwoleBroscientist why are you an asshole
Yup, I met him a few times and always came off as the most down to earth guy. He was interacting with everyone. Meanwhile, the other popular strongman would take a few pictures and turn his back to the crowd, lol.
Strongmen seem like the coolest and most down to earth competitors. Love following this sport
Silas Gruene i was gonna say the same thing. When you are that big and strong you have very little to prove lol. Everyone knows they would get squashed if they ever pissed one of these guys off.
@@MrInzombia Lol true in terms of no average man is going to want to fuck with a man who is 6'8 350-400lbs and super strong...even a skilled fighter would not want to get into it cause of the risk. However if it actually happened life and death forced to fight ..there are plenty and plenty of much smaller men who would murder Shaw or Hafor in a fight with ease. example...any MMA mid-upper lvl pro and UFC lvl guys at Welterweight and Up would hurt these big guys badly.
Really with any basic training at all it would be hard for anything under a heavy weight fighter to handle them mostly cause its going to throw off the fighters to there generally not going to be use to fighting someone this big the really long reach the weight of trying to move them around all this is before you get into strength you have to consider that a light heavy weight fighting them would be like a heavy weight vs feather weight fight size wise but I do admit around a light heavy weight could win but its not a sure thing .
@@REXAZOR Nothing is with ease if you are going against guys that size, especially not in a life and death situation.
@@williambrinkmeier1772 lol sorry dude but if you train at a decent level you will see 150lbs men beating 240-300 lbs men who are highly trained themselves eg Marcelo Garcia has beaten world class trained men who were 6'3 250+ so skill makes a huge difference and that's just bjj. A strongman has zero training ..there not naturally 300-400 ..hafor was like 240 as a younger man so the size u see is not natural it's bulk added ..fighters fight best at their frame size extra bulk is not good......we even have a great example the 5x strongest man on Earth Marius pudz went into MMA..and got his ass beat by low level fighters ...he gassed straight away and lost 50lbs...no good fighter is 300+ none zero cause when u fight u will gas fast...even now he never made it far ..so 6'9 400 lbs man lol he would die of gassing and sloppyness fast .
Also bigger is not better that's a caveman mentality it becomes counter productive after a a certain size. Not a single heavyweight lhw mw is near as skilled as a fw lw top guy in mma cause smaller guys are more.technical . Anyone past 6'3 250 usually becomes veryyyy goofy unathletic for fighting hence why the heavyweight champs like Cain Stipe always beat Giants who were 300. Also weight classes matter when both guys have equal skill...Brian's is like a child v a UFC pro period. I've submitted 320 powerlifters easily and I'm 184...
How do I do it ? Cause once you pass 240-250lbs you have to much size to move and because you don't know wtf your doing you gas out and when Brian or hafor gas out they wolould be killed by even an average man . Also if you think it would take a LHW lol...middleweights in UFC are 6'2-6'3 220lbs + athletic lean and world.class they would kill a strongman ...Damian Maia is a WW 6'2 200 and would submit these guys easily ... maybe lightweights would have a problem.bit those are still 180+ men with world.class ability.
Brian really should be nicknamed the Gentle giant.
There was already one and will always be. ANDRE THE GIANT
Some people call him that especially when the have met him
I am really wondering why didn’t he play Hodor on Game of Thrones
@@torakka2ow640 I doubt he'd wanna be known for that role tbh. Yeah it has a sweet connotation in the end. But also in the end you don't forget the first 6+ seasons.
Would like to see him get mad. Probably pretty scary
Talking about Hafthor @ 9:45
Ty
Thank you
Thanks man
TRUE MVP!!
eznir84 GOAT!!
I wonder if Brian says the typical parent phrase “oh you’re getting heavy” when he picks up his son lol.
Yeah when he's 17 haha
After a brutal days practice he'll notice the weight. He probably can hardly pick up his arms after a long day.... But great joke.
Lol
@@jessehardin8500 lol
When Brian discussed the support from his wife... damn. How lucky he is to have found someone that pushes him to pursue his dreams
How true - and I have to say that I have been blessed with the same and it means everything when your family is either there at the event or you know they are home rooting for you.
@Cool Grow up clown
If she's not doing that then fucking get rid of her.
True, but can you imagine the shzanski he pushes her with? 😳
True. But it should have been a NO brainer to have been their for his son birth. Not via video.
Reminds me of the Cat Stevens song "Cats in the craddle".
Basically his dad had all these commitments and whenever his son asked him for a little of his time it was "Not now, I'm busy maybe later".
So when he becomes an old man asking his son for a little time guess what?
"Sorry Dad, not now I'm a little busy. Maybe later".
I'm glad he has an awesome wife who supports him and that's their decision alone. It's just whenever I hear of these type of stories I'm dumbfounded. A birth only happens once. A competition can be done the next year.
Had the pleasure of meeting Brian about 6weeks ago..he is almost unreal looking and a even better personality. He talked solo with me until I walked away ( I didn't wanna cause a scene, crowd, or waste his time )....he basically said what's your hurry I was gonna tell you a story about my plans to break the Atlas stone record !! I'm 6 foot 235lb and like to think I'm in great shape as I've worked out and dieted for years, I really felt like a toddler and thought this man could rip me apart bare handed in like 3 seconds !!! It was crazy lol
brad padgett sane thing with me I'm 6'6 368lbs and he would dwarf me he's huge
@the giehf only in strength he would
I met Mark Felix years ago and thought "Wow, this guys huge!" Let alone meeting Shaw, it must of been a humbling experience.
I'm at the same height n weight, I'm trying to gain weight and it's hard, I'm still at 235lbs.
@@CALCOBRA94 it's all about diet these dudes are consuming between 12-15k calories a day at 2 hour intervals, it's more of a chore than the training, so reach for the fridge rather than the dumbbell if you have hit a bit of a plateau weight wise.
I really think you should get in touch with Joe Rogan and get on his show. You have such an awesome, considered conversation style, you are as elite an athlete as the sport has ever seen, and your podcast will go gangbusters.
Joe Rogan is a good fit to get Shaw more exposure of course, however, I would really love to see Brian on the Jocko Willink podcast.
Screw joe
Who are you talking to? lol, Mark Bell?
People think because there`s a video of someone they are the ones that posted the video lmfao..
Yessss. So much to talk about!
I've thought the same! He's a perfect fit for an interesting discussion.
How can anyone not like Brian Shaw. Even if you don't care about Strongman competitions you still gotta like Brian Shaw. Such an inspiring human being on every aspect of life.
Probably the nicest guy ever to compete in WSM. And a 4 time winner! One of the ATG's.
This guy is incredible. I can't think of a better person for young athletes (regardless of sport) to look up to. Totally humble, hard-working, and supportive of other athletes.
This humble behavior and simply this good guy aura almost does not fit his frame :D But I really like how down to earth he is and I wish him all the best. Great beast
Check out the Smashing Machine. ..Mark Kerr
A gentle giant for sure.
If you read my post above - how bodybuilding has been inundated with mass monsters now.... guys like Kai Greene and Phil Heath (a couple of years ago) - were cursing, and came near to blows on the 2014 Olympia stage. Even in the past - guys like Craig Titus thrown his award down on stage and flipping the crowd off - is just horrible. The whole sport of bodybuilding is a circus - it is a political nightmare. Strength sports like powerlifting an WSM seem to pull in the biggest, strongest, and most humble guys. I've never been in a fight, yelling match, or even HEARD trash talking in over 200 powerlifting meets that I have been a part of. Guys like Thor, Brian, and Eddie are the TYPICAL type guys that you see at these events. Top notch and truly class acts.
Sounds like your stereotyping but its all good man you'll learn that not all stereotypes aren't facts just opinions 🙃
You have no idea what you're talking about
I wish Strongmen competitors and competitions would take their rightful place at top of Body and strength related competition soon instead of aesthetically focused bodybuilding which has frankly in my personal opinion has gone from amazing to ugly now
How dare you bashing the pregnant look of modern bodybuilding?
Right1 like how is that bubble not getting them immediately disqualified... sure other things gets them points but such an obvious fault should matter a lot when the focus is on looks
Bubble gut bubble bubble bubble gut!
And Strongman are also WAY more friendly for audiences than Powerlifting.
I love how Strongman includes more diversity of movement and dynamic moves, timing and so on.
It's basically decathlon for strong people.
The "mass monsters" have now taken over bodybuilding - it is the post-peptide era. It is truly unfortunate that genetics, hard work (gym ethic), and diet have been cast aside by a specific set of 191 amino acids (gH). If you take a look at it (in depth), the mass monsters are considerably less healthy than the guys pre-peptide. They now use IGF-1, insulin, and a host of others that are just plain TOXIC to the system above what is produced by the body. Yeah - the guys pre-peptide used PED's but not to the extent of the ones I just mentioned. Even the classic division is being more and more inundated with guys using gH, insulin and alike. It's a shame - hopefully we (as fans) will put up enough of a front that we can have our voices heard.

What a professional. Very impressed to see Big Brian talk positively about his rivals. Not many have the strength of "Character" to do so. Respect!!
Brian Shaw needs go on the JRE Podcast...
That would be such a waste of Brian’s charisma and energy, lol
Joe looked soo small next to Robert. Robert looks soo small next to Brian.
Its so humbling hearing a strong man talk like this. Sounds like a very nice guy.
Haven't met him in person - but it seems like a trend among these guys. Thor and Eddie Hall are really cool guys as well.
@@Madswol63
strong men competitors are mostly really humble, chill and nice guys
its the bodybuilders that are mostly aggressive
@@curtizjamezjackson111 - Agreed brother - I have met (and trained with) Craig Titus, Tom Platz, Lee, Lee Labrada - ALL back in the 80's. These guys were AWESOME guys when they weren't getting ready for a show. Once they started to cut calories, increased drugs like Winstrol - THAT'S when they became difficult to be around. Think about it this way - when you have a friend that is starting to diet seriously - they become a bit more agitated - mix that with the androgenic "supplements" they take... well it's about 10 times worse than a regular dieter. Powerlifters and strongmen don't diet (usually) unless they are in danger of going to the next highest weight class. That being said - they don't go through the rough patch of serious dieting that bodybuilders do.
"I like basketball, but then I decided to be a bear." - Brian Shaw
There's an animated movie about it called Brave... although they didn't exactly willingly turn into a bear :-)
So what? If he self identifies as a bear then let him use the bear washroom.
The stereotype that big people are mean/aggressive is pushed by people who are three feet tall and mad at the world.
i never heard some1 say big people are mean or aggresisive,
dat manlet rage
Us small guys cant help it. Especially because having a competitive desire is also something you can be born with. Its frustrating to have a heart that loves competition, but a body that isnt competitive. Eventually you realize all you can do is talk shit, so thats what you do lol
Those big dudes whos aggresive etc are the ones using roids
Keep it clean and natural and thing will be chill
Never heard that "statement". 😕 I'm one inch shorter than Brian, and I'm really calm.
I always root for Hafthor, but Brian sometimes makes it difficult since he's just so damn likable.
What I like about Brian Shaw is he a cool dude. He’s approachable and not cocky. I respect and appreciate guys like Brian Shaw.
what a lovely person!! His humility comes from a position of extraordinary strength.
Thor vs Shaw at Basketball. That would be amazing. Both x ballers so...

how about Shaw vs Shaq
Eddie vs Hafthor gonna be an epic fight
What a humble nice man. This guy has something about him that makes me want to be his best friend. Love watching Brian compete. Never needed to talk crap to opponents to bring the fire. He has the fire inside. A genuinely great guy. You the man Brian.
I find it funny that the acronym for world's ultimate strongman is WUS. Lol 😄
oh lord lol
+Verisimilitude Dude
I was thinking the same. All this blood sweat and tears that Brian put in along the years, and all it did is turn him into a WUS. In fact all men in this video are nothing but WUS-es. :)))))))
