what about a trackball? I have a mouse, a left-handed ergo mouse, a right handed trackball mouse, an apple trackpad, an apple mouse and a slimblade pro trackball on my desk. I also have a clinical case of OCD and own like 17 of everything. I don't even cook but somehow ended up with thousands of dollars of handmade Japanese kitchen knives prized by skilled chefs. I am not a skilled chef. I am a mentally ill person.
Trackpads on Windows has come a long way in the last few years. Just got a cheap external precision touchpad from a China site. Works buttery smooth and with all customizeable Win11 gestures out of the box - all with drivers build in windows - no odd drivers to install. It totally rivals that of the magic on a mac.
I prefer the Macbook trackpad, but if I find myself getting finger pain from too much trackpad use, I need to start learning more keyboard shortcuts and using Vim keybinds in my browser using an extension. By the way, to close tabs in any app, Command+w. I just always keep my left thumb resting on that command key at all times.
4:32 That's mainly Adobe's fault, not Apple's. Adobe's apps have an underwhelming UI and UX, especially when using a trackpad as a primary pointing device. Alternatives like Final Cut Pro, Affinity Photo, Pixelmator Pro work great with it.
I'm a MacBook Pro user and I still use a mouse! I hate using a trackpad, even if I am using a Mac! I'm also left-handed but I use a mouse (or trackpad when I do happen to use one) right-handed!
Better than trackpad or mouse is actually learning keyboard shortcuts. That turns you into a speed productivity machine. For example, instead of middle mouse click for closing tabs, holding ctrl+w or cmd+w will close the tab. ctrl+t new tab, ctrl+tab to switch tabs, ctrl+shift+t to undo a closed tab ;)
You can buy standalone trackpads, or a pen tablet. You are probably pressing too hard if you manage to get friction burn, it is exactly the same as a touchscreen.
Well depends on what you need and on the budget. I would go with m1 air 16 gb ram to be safe for long term and if you don't really need to do anything super intensive.
@@depresty From the fist Google results it seems like these software are not available on Mac, so if you must use them then the only option is a Windows PC or running windows on a Mac, which isn't ideal.
I work a lot with SQL (on windows) and forcing myself to use a lot of keyboard shortcuts..it's always annoying to use the mouse - since you have to - when you have both hands on your kb - so, I'll give the track pad a try. Edit: This comment was before the video - and literally in the first seconds of the video😂
Damn buddy you just think like me lol, I also keep using both things, But yes using macbook in bed and sofa with Trackpad is just another level. But again mouse is fast when you do more precise work like photoshop or illustrator. By the way How do you use your razer viper with mac? With dongle or something? Which mouse software do you use with it?
Yeah I just have a USB-A to C converter - it's not the prettiest setup and it sticks out from the side but it was the best I can think of. I use 3 apps to make all the annoying stuff like mouse acceleration go away: mac mouse fix, sensible side buttons, and linear mouse. I have 2 profiles that are on board of my viper that I've set up on windows so I don't have to install synapse on mac. So whenever I connect the mouse to the mac I just switch profiles. I have macros that let me quick switch virtual desktops and open mission control.
Even if I was thrown a Windows laptop by someone, I could never use Windows. Because I don’t like to perform Hackintosh, my only option is to go the Linux route. I mostly use macOS, but that is because I have actual Macs and not Hackintoshes.
yeah both of them has pros and cons. for sure... macbook's trackpads are the best. windows will one will get that close. as a widows user, my touchpad is pretty good, but yeah, it' mostly the software. if you practice.. i've seen people doing crazy things with both!
Any track pad that doesnt have external buttons is useless. The cursor gets stuck because your thumb is already on the pad. Unfortunately 95% o f all computers are like this now.
Yeah but you can't do that while holding the mouse in one hand and scratching your back with the other. If you were to do this only with the mouse then you'd have a free hand to do whatever you want with it. xd
You’re mentioning that closing tabs and opening links in new tab are major advantages of using a mouse, instead you can use keyboard shortcuts. I prefer trackpad rather than a mouse.
here's the weird thing for me, I love the trackpad on the macbook pro but I hate the external trackpad! I feel the external unconformable even should be the same. I use the trackpad on the macbook pro only by 10 years, no problems.
I have a trackpad for my desktop. I find mice are more awkward to use as they don't stay in the same place and they hurt my wrist more. No friction burns with a trackpad for me.
Scrolling back up to smash the like button automatically updates your trackpad drivers 👌
How the hell are you so underrated lmfao. I'm team both tbh, I have a mouse connected and use trackpad for gestures
Thanks!, I'm team both as well xd
1:02 Most important part of the video for me was learning I could even do that.
Nice!
Cmd-W to close tabs. And on firefox you can enable about:config option for double click to close.
How does Cmd-W knows which tabs I want to close
It will close the active one
Wait you can't use 3 finger taps for middle click on a Mac? Sad I use that all the time on Windows.

Mouse and trackpad together if you use programs like figma etc it is such a nice combo
dawg your VOs and graphics are funny asf
Ayeeee thanks man!

You can learn the shortcuts, press command w to close windows

Just use cmd+w to close browser tabs or any thing like a window.

I always use trackpad, even when gaming
Why only 9k subs, my homie should have at least million sub, I like his satire and sarcasm in the video.😊
Oh goddamn, thanks!
Hey man…great video! What mouse are u using the video?
Hello, thanks! I'm using the Razer Viper Ultimate
I use touchpad/trackpad in my laptop to prioritise keyboard shortcuts.
Clicking right and left button at the same time is the trackpads only weakness.
which is better for Video Editing in Mac "

Yess those are really good. I mostly use the middle click though to open links in new tabs which is quite annoying to do with the keyboard.
control or cmd click to open it in a new tab too
çok teşekkürrrrrr ederim

what's a middle click?
It's when you press down the scroll wheel

today i was years old when i realized u can close tabs by mouse middle click
1:53 ok so now gestures are apple special wooow
Windows have them for years😂
this thumbnail seems to be working
It's working on 4.8% of people, so I'm not sure if it's really working xd
My trackpad didn’t work how I can activation it
I like trackpads much more but I only use mouse when my laptop is charging because the trackpad glitches when it's charging.
Instructions unclear. Bought a trackball.
its just click with 3 finger in the tab

This question won't bother anyone after watching this video.
I suck at trackpad at this point because it's so slow to control than the mouse.
Any track pad that doesnt have external buttons is useless. The cursor gets stuck because your thumb is already on the pad. Unfortunately 95% o f all computers are like this now.
Lol, on linux you can configure any touchpad gesture in GUI via Touchegg and Touche.
I'm the weird guy who prefers trackpads over mouses 😭😭
i game with the trackpad
I thought this was an external trackpad vs mouse review not laptop trackpad. I feel clickbaited 😂
Oh, I'm sorry
Why mouse?
Because built-in trackpad don't have two buttons and scroll wheel.
Bruh i have both
moose by far

command w to close tabs fast, command click to open link in new tab, problem solved
