    Thank you for this !! Without formal schooling in Music Theory, us "apers" can try to expand our wings a little bit by learning a seemingly mundane old song in a cool new way!! With this kind of styling a whole new song possibility opens-up "magically. I have saved this lesson and I will definitely tackle this one to "up-my-game". Love your playing style, I could listen to you all day, sir!!!

    I love Walter's intelligent approach, which (note well), doesn't mention "drop" chords, but instead decides exactly what inversion and voicing he wants. The use of "drop" chords becomes slavery to a fixed notion that is essentially not very musical. Instead, Walter exerts absolute control over what he wants by deciding the chord progressions based on musicality and the desired harmonic effect.

    so you can change the iii flat 7th to a dominant 7th chord that resolves home to the 1 CHORD OR MAJOR 7TH CHORD. all
    my wording makes it seem more difficult than it really is, i am sorry about that. a good lesson, thanks.
